nice explanation. My only correction: there are more chemical mediators released by mast cells than just histamine (prostaglandins, eosinophil chemotactic factor of anaphylaxis, platelet activating factor, and basophil kallikrein). All of them trigger the release of secondary chemical mediators, such as: bradykinin, serotonin, heparin, and leukotrienes. Leukotrienes actually compared to histamine are 100 to 1,000 times more potent in causing bronchospasm...
@almachan260
8 жыл бұрын
+Бойчук Катерина this isn't correction. what he said was correct. he just didn't mention these mediators for whatever reason.
@stomponstep1989
8 жыл бұрын
+red hood This was a situation where I was trying to simplify things a bit. Most of the questions on the exam are on histamine so I focused the video on that, but I probably should have at least mentioned some of the other chemical mediators to avoid confusion. Thanks to both of you for the correction!

very fine video. And a good overview of the topic. Though I would suggest to be more illustrative. For example using a "marker", or make the video as a cartoon kind-of video. Where we see each cell being drawn as you move forward talking about the different kinds of cells etc. - Thanks for the video, needed to fresh up my memory :)

Holy crap, were you in Globe Med at FSU? hahahaha Edit: Also, solid job on this series/program dude. I'm impressed. Basically DIT for free. Let me know if you'd like any help with anything, i'd love to get involved (it'd probably even me help for step in 30 weeks haha) Edit 2: Rheumatoid Arthritis should also be classified under Type 4 since it's mediated by both mechanisms. Not sure if you caught that in FA 2015 but i think it's important that most people don't just associate RA with only Type 3

Thanks!
