Sa'd bin Ebû Vakkās (Arabic: سعد بن أبي وقاص ; (592,[1] Mecca - 675, Akik),[2] He is one of the ten companions who were given the good news of Paradise and one of the first to accept Islam. He became a Muslim through Abu Bakr. Thanks to his talent, he held positions such as commander and ambassador in the Rashidun forces. He founded Kufa as an advanced outpost city during the time of Caliph Omar and became its governor. He was also the commander of the army that captured the Sassanid capital Medain in 657.
Sa'd became a Muslim at the age of seventeen, and he was the seventh person to become a Muslim in Mecca. During their stay in Medina, he participated in all the battles under Muhammad. He participated in the Battle of Qadisiya as army commander and conquered the Sasanian capital Ctesiphon in 636. After the Battle of Qadisiyyah and the Siege of Ctesiphon (637), Sa'd served as commander in chief. He was a member of the Rashidun army in Iraq, which conquered Khuzestan and built the garrison city of Kufa. He was later deposed by Caliph Umar due to complaints about his behavior. During the First Fitna, Sa'd was known for leading the neutral group that included the majority of the prophet's companions and their followers who refused to participate in the civil war. According to the traditions of Chinese Muslims, he is said to have introduced Islam to China during a diplomatic visit in 651, although these accounts are disputed.
