I've been up and down this road many times. Me wife and son would stop and get something to eat then have dinner at the view point and watch the sun sets. So beautiful

You can't see Humphrey's Peak from Flagstaff. What you are seeing is Agassiz Peak. Humphrey's is behind it.

My man. I used to jump on this highway after a bad day at work(retail at the time, never again) and either go to Sunset Point, or keep going to Sedona to relax. Having since moved back to NC, I do find myself missing the serenity of it...

2 hours is often the time it takes to go between Anthem and Sunset Point on a Friday afternoon in the summertime

"Watch for Ice". Not just yet. The elevation signs are a nice touch. 4000, then 5000 a few miles later. Didn't see 6000 (must have missed it), then 7000 at AZ 89A. My COPD is talking to me. From desert to high country in a little over two hours. Great views and a pleasant enough drive. I-17 follows the corridors of old AZ 69, AZ 79 and alternate US 89 the last few into Flagstaff. It was one of the first parts of Interstate in AZ; started in the late 1950's.

Great drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff. This looks like a smooth drive without too much traffic here. The view is beautiful

38:18 I noticed on the left shoulder, those flags that business normally use to promote specials are being used for construction/warning signs? That caught me off guard.

I-17's mileage is weird because it used to start from an old routing of US 89.

The pre-interstate route was US 89A Flagstaff to Cottonwood, State Hwy 79 Cottonwood to Cordes Jct. State Hwy 69 Cordes Jct to Phoenix. Per 1950s maps.
