I live in Atlanta so it's not like I can just run out and do this. When I'm visting a city like Pittsburgh I have limited time so I concentrate on what I feel are the most interesting roads that are worth filming. I can appreciate that you might want to see certain things but in all honesty what you are asking for is not something I'm likely to film.

So pretty out in that area. It really doesn't feel like you're passing by one of the most important major cities in the eastern half of the country, while driving this route. Nice to see that PennDOT finally completed that interchange at I-376. It was still under construction when I drove through.

It's a pretty area though, lot's of hills, forests, and farms. Trust me I'm from up in that area and I've rode on it a lot. If you're really loking for a good ride, take I 80 to PA 66 and take it north through the Allegheny National Forest. That's pretty in the mountains, especially in the fall.

Love the scenery when driving I-79, particularly when you hit WV state lines with all the mountains you pass through and the towns. I am not sure how many miles I-79 is, but it runs from Erie,PA all the way to Charleston, WV

Great video. Hard to believe you're passing by a major metro area with that scenery and traffic density.

@aswchris Thanks, I agree, I've not experienced that feeling driving that close to other cities that size.

@aswchris Agreed. It's to the point I think the speed limit is under-posted. Even if they don't post 65, they should post it for 60 in most spots. I guess 60 MPH has to be legally allowed (state law only specifies 55 and 65 as options).

I’d consider this one my home video, as Exit 66 (PA 65, Emsworth/Sewickley) is where I currently live. 🙂

That would be too long of a video to pit on KZitem, and quite frankly the rural section of I-79 between Cranberry & Erie is not all that interesting, I doubt I'd film it.

Where Exit 59 is, that once was the southwestern end point for I-279... before they decided to make that all I-376 from I-76 at Monroeville, through downtown Pittsburgh, past the airport, and almost to Ohio at I-76 again.

SuperPat88 Yes. Interstate 279 went from the point through Mt. Washington, through Green Tree, and Past Carnegie to get to Interstate 79 then on the other side was US Route 22/30. Then the Beaver Valley Expressway was PA Route 60 and that went from Crafton through Robinson, up toward the Airport, and continued North Through Beaver and New Castle up to Sharon, PA
