Story: Tommy was a feral cat, son of another feral cat. It took years for him to trust me. TO this day he doesn't like anyone but me (animals or people), and goes wild at the vet. Today we get along perfectly, this video is just we both goofing off, he doesn't have any bad intentions trust me (i would be unalive if he did)

We have a cat named Penny Dreadful. She had kittens in our yard and was totally feral. We got the kittens socialized and adopted and got her fixed and released. But then she just moved into the house one day and never left. It was funny because she was 100% feral but also just in our space with us. Like she took over the sink in out bathroom and would hiss and try to bite you if you tried to move her. We had to brush our teeth and stuff in the kitchen sink for awhile. She’s calmed down a bit but she’s still like 83% spicy. You can pet her for like 7 seconds.

_she just moved into the house one day and never left_ I had a cat do that, in the middle of a horrible and cold winter he just moved in. I had to pretend he wasn't there otherwise he'd get very nasty, lots of hissing and growling so I'd ignore him and just leave him food outside of the little cat house he took over. Over the winter I got closer and closer to him by bribing him with treats and other food. Slowly he got more trusting around me and then he would even play a little. When the spring came round he decided he didn't want to leave. I had him five years, he died just a month ago and I miss the noisy little so and so a hell of a lot. We think he was around 14 and obviously we have no idea of his life before he just moved in.

I miss my former feral sweetie. She was the best. It took her a few years to bond with me, but then when she did her attachment to me was so fierce. I took her everywhere including on vacation because the one time I didn’t (the first and last time I was away from her), she literally starved herself for the entire time I was away, and put herself into acute renal failure. Thank goodness, she started eating and drinking the minute she saw me. After that I never travelled without her. She lived to the ripe old age of 18. She would proudly walk through airport security on a leash on our vacations. And never caused any issues on long flights. My children and I still miss her.😢

@@christinelane2581 lots of these.❤️❤️❤️ I am sure your kitties were well loved and cared for. Yes, my kitty was the best. She accepted me giving her IV hydration for years, and yet remained playful and engaged to the end. Lots of people told me to put her down and that I was selfish until I would show them videos of her chasing toys or proudly walking through airport security on a leash. My vet calls me the the ‘best cat nurse ‘ out there and I often go into their clinics to show their clients how to administer meds to their cats. I am now owned by a very strong willed Tortie (adopted her at nine years of age) who some idiot threw off their balcony. I have been blessed. She is 16 now, and although she mostly recovered from that balcony incident, has arthritis in the leg that was injured in that fall. I am learning pet physio to help her with that. She is super sweet, but also super bossy of my other male cats. 😂😂😂

A feral cat would not even want to be in a house - they are more comfortable in the snow and rain! They are built for that. Strays adapt to it. Strays live near humans and need them. They need humans and the sources of food and vermin humans produce! They know to seek human assistance when things are intolerable. Feral cats are BORN feral and don’t want to live among humans any more than a human would want to live among bears - and we are way bigger and more fearsome to a cat than a bear is to a person! They would rather die in nature than live in a house…

@@zeebest1004 , we thought about that a lot. When we found him, our cat was an older kitten (3 months or so) in the alley behind the house. There was definitely a wild side to him. He caught enough pigeons and rats to feed himself. Why was he interested in people and playful? It is probably best described as a stray cat, but we don't know where it got human interactions in the first few months of its life. It is still most likely that it grew up in a house, and was maybe chased away before he was an adult cat.

Oh. I love little feral babies. They want love but from a far distance. I’ve tamed quite a few ferals in my time and it’s so awarding. I’ve also have had to accept that a cat will remain feral and love him or her anyway. My little Jack is feral even though he snuck into my house as a teeny kitten. My clowder raised him and I worked on taming his wild ass. He’s still feral but I can carefully pet him and love in him. No one else can get near and there are times when he runs from me. So, I steadfastly love him and do my best to take care of him. My sweet Jacky loves me back but he’s so fearful. I’m hoping I can catch him and have him neutered and, again, hopefully, that’ll calm him down. He’s a five year old cat though. Nevertheless, as long as both of us are alive, I will continue to do my best to take care of him. It’s not about me. It’s about Jack. You’re so very lovely for taking Timmy and caring for him without expectations. It takes a special man to do that. You’re a good kid! 💚

So she’s quite trusting of me and always just waltzed in the door when I opened it. Even though it’s spring/summer here we’ve had a very cold spell and I couldn’t stand the thought of her and the little 3 week olds out in the cold even though I had put them in a box with blankets. So in they came and mum of course. It’s been up and down. She’s been freaked out inside and also happy inside. Last night she slept on my lap while I watched TV, then slept all night on a blanket next to the kitten box. So I guess I have a new cat. He doesn't like being woke up, and will do exactly what your cat did. He loves being petted and loved, but on HIS terms. Your cat seems to be training you, good luck! 😆Even though my cat is cranky, over weight and constantly begs for food, he is sweet, and rarely leaves my side. If I am walking through the house, he is likely next to me walking with me. He is family, my best friend, and the keeper of all of my secrets, without judgement.

Okay, clearly no one has ever told you to NOT use your hands to play with your cat. Using your hands for playing teaches a cat antisocial behaviors that it is OKAY to bite the crap out of hands (yours, your friends, your family) . This is how you turn a potentially nice cat into a cat from hell. Get the cat some cat teasers (you know, wands with attached fabrics to chase). DO NOT ENCOURAGE YOUR CAT TO ATTACK YOUR HANDS.

For a feral cat, this is actually very well behaved. I remember back when I was 20 and lived in the Oklahoma Countryside a pure feral cat showed up on our doorstep and I kept trying to give him food. One of my aunts from the Miami-Dade metropolitan area who had never interacted with anything besides domesticated cats seem to believe it didn't trust me because "animals knew whether a person was good or not". God some so called "animal lovers" are such idiots.

Cats do not like over stimulation…by allowing your cat time to come to you, he will warm up to you gradually…I saved a feral female cat with 7 kittens…she would attack me on the first day each time I entered the spare room where I put her and the box of kittens. I would only enter to feed her and change her water so she always had fresh water. The spare room was empty of furniture and a good size room. I put the large box with blankets and kittens in the far corner so she had plenty of space between me and her babies. By putting her food dishes and litter box in an area close to the door, I gave her plenty of space between myself and her babies….in a matter of only 3 days she no longer felt the need to attack me, and in about 5 days she would come over to me and eventually let me pet her. She also allowed me to see and touch her babies…I was then able to change out the blankets and one by one take her babies once they were a little older bath them and get rid of the fleas…as I wanted to make sure they were as healthy as possible….anyway let your cat come to you and don’t over stimulate them by insisting on letting them when they don’t want you touching them…

If you do play with your hand like that, encouraging it to view your hand as some kind of prey/enemy, it will always view your hand as that. Made the same mistake myself with a kitten, then had to spend a lot of time detraining it from that behaviour.
