The "some people need to face danger sometimes" resonated with me hard. As a combat veteran I've seen some stuff that forced me to prioritize the things that actually matter in life. Even if it seems unrelated, it did helped me on my mixing career and my approach to my everyday life. Cheers from Puerto Rico and I really hope you get better and healthier. \m/

health is wealth my man. sending my best wishes over your way! unfortunately our job is highly sedentary, with long hours, and the stress of running our own businesses. It's the literal blue print for health issues popping up. i'm glad you're talking about taking care of your health because I think so many people in this industry will run into issues at some point or another if they don't actively try to take care of themselves.

Wow, Colt, I am a follower and in a media field like yours. I had a birthday yesterday. I turned 61. I've been down this road and that meal/snack. The lifestyle continued, and last November. I did have a stroke. You are really speaking truth to power. At 61, I am religiously listening to this message, wondering if I would have, should have, or could have. Thank you so much for this message. It took the better part of a year to recover. Because of my discipline, I have been producing good products and services, keeping me focused. I am improving overall. Life seems like it will never be the same.

Colt… thank you for your transparency. This literally hit me hard in the face. I am a workaholic by nature, work with 80+ guitar students every week, tons of music and podcasting clients every week and all the small business things. 100hr work weeks non existent sleep, a pattern of not prioritizing nutrition, skipping meals to work, 1800+ mg of caffeine a day. Feel like crap in my 20s. I’ve had multiple instances of being nearly on stroke level in the last year. The high blood pressure, blacking out, vomiting, twitching ect. It’s making me rethink life as well as I just can’t keep going like this. Been running like this since my teens and it’s destroying my body. It’s made me even think about leaving music for something more viable and doing music as a hobby or side hustle. I don’t know what the solution is but I know I need to slow down. I can at least say this year I am prioritizing more sleep, cutting out caffeine. Thank you for putting out this video though as I have almost been thinking this as things are getting insane again and I can feel a lot of symptoms creeping up again and then you just posted this! Stay healthy man! I have taught multiple guitar students that have had serious strokes and it’s not something I would wish on either of us or anyone watching in similar spots!

..I really wish you well and hope your problem eases the hell off!! I understand if you dont read this. Went through similar myself this past couple of years. I've gone to my NHS GP's surgeries to have my asthma monitored for the past 10 years and the past few they said "we need to get your blood pressure down!" Trouble is its the NHS and when they say "we" they mean "you" and give you no real support. Sometimes they tell you to go to the NHS website and find a factsheet but thats sometimes a bit too generalised. ..I've also been in the position of explaining how physical my job is (my job s my gym - 11 full hours a day of walking, dragging, lifting and hauling hospital waste) and they just say "oh you need to do more exercise!" OK great, can you help me figure out why the job isnt enough? Again no answer. I ended up in an ambulance over a month ago where my heart rate sky rocketed and I collapsed. All kinds of tests and no answers. ...I've ended up trying to read up actual science studies on diet and exercise these past couple of years to get a feel for what I can do. Self diagnosis doesnt feel right tbh. But at least it isnt facebook research. One interesting study looked at the effect of fizzy/carbonated, high sugar and high caffiene drinks on the oesophageal track and how it causes inflamation. This leads to indegestion, and I was getting serious heartburn for a long time. Cut down on sugars, cut back on fizzy and caffiene and its now stopped. Human beings have only really ingested caffiene and sugar like this in the past 50 years.

Colt, don’t beat yourself up by playing the “what if” game. You had no idea you would’ve gone through this experience. I was an alcoholic and heavy cigarette smoker since my teens. I also drank a ridiculous amount of soda and energy drinks daily. It took me getting diagnosed with Leukemia around this time 2 years ago to quit everything. I can tell you that after 2 years of being sober and smoke free, I feel great and am more focused on my families needs instead of my own. So for me it was a blessing and great thing that I went through that experience. We’re the same age (I’m 42) and it’s becoming more common for younger adults to become ill with uncommon health issues. My advice to you is to look for the positive in this new chapter in your life and don’t regret making the changes you need to. I’ll definitely keep you and your family in prayers so that you can live a long, healthy life and to be there for your family. Turn your trials into testimony, you can save someone’s life.

Health is the most important thing Colt, good that you are sharing this. Opinions don’t really matter because there are billions of people who all have different opinions, who cares. Only we ourselves care about opinions, it’s something that shouldn’t matter. We genuinely should care more about people and far more less about their opinions. Good choice you made, to take care of yourself and change your life style. I think not eating processed food will be a major benefit for anyone, a lot of what we eat is actually just junk. Wish you the best and a good healthy recovery ❤️🩹

Hi Colt, You're still so young, but I wanted to share a bit of what I've been through. As you might remember, my life took a complete 180. I had to close down my IT business, and I spent 15 months in 'forced' rehabilitation (medical gym) after having a stroke at 59 caused by a blood clot in my brain. I've lost 30 pounds and now stay active with regular gym sessions and long walks in the forest-sometimes off the beaten path. I'm still not allowed to drive and don't know if I ever will again, so we sold the car. I manage to get by on less than $50 a month, but I keep writing and releasing music. You don’t want to go down this road, so keep fighting the good fight-not for us, but for your family. It's okay to scale back on KZitem. We’ll still be here, even if you only post one video a month. Eventually, you might need to make some tough decisions, like whether to focus 100% on the studio, or go for an 80/20 split between studio and KZitem. Whatever you decide, we’ll understand. I'm really glad you're taking this seriously because life can change in an instant-just like it did for me. After the stroke, I realized I could have avoided it by making better choices, like not eating fast food. After almost two years of strict eating and gym time, I now wake up to a can of coffee, which lasts me throughout the day (about 4-5 cups), and that works fine for me. Take care, my friend.

As a fellow YT'er, I love the message you are sharing here. I think in the end, no matter our niche, rule number one is to help others in any way we can. I'm in my early 50's now and in the best shape of my life. I have always been crazy active, but when we are in our 20's we feel invincible and frankly don't have the brain power to process the grand scheme of life. I gotta say, I'm shocked that so many trolls give you a hard time. When I see your vids your are just a positive beacon of light and sharing your knowledge should be appreciated at the highest level. I'm only 1.5 years deep on YT, but I have discovered that happy people that are achieving in life would never drop a negative vibe. The ones that do have nothing else in there life, so good on you for staying away from that. And just to share thanks to you...I think I am going to drink less or stop all caffeine in the afternoons. ha. I know it's gonna be hard, but I have 2 little dudes I gotta see grow up. Let me first say that I appreciate everything you do for us to present things in a real fashion. You are I think a self driven individual and we benefit from that a great deal, your wife and children come first before us. I’m very thankful to be alive to text. You is very close last year. I almost didn’t make it. Do what you have to do to keep the center of your life and focus and if we can enjoy your insights from time to time, that would be fine. It would be a true blessing. Thank you for being so straightforward. I wish I would’ve heard this a year or so ago it would’ve changed my outcome. Sorry to hear that Colt, really bit shocked... I wish you all the best for your health. Best wishes from Switzerland. Its really reality that we people are too much inner stressed or just overforced in many things in our life... That has not even only to do just with your music life now or so.. The modern world we are in is not healthy in many ways. And self control this become most difficult yet. Also in my job wich has nothing to do with music is stressful many times, I am driving trains... I make music basically only as a serious hobby to relax since 35 years.. And so I think any Job has this side being stressed, doing the wrong things we think to can handle it then. But that can come to a point of no return for health... Self experianced that finally until the day X arrived wich my body collapsed out from nothing, I was the day work, just came home, feel normal, good mood, wanted do bit music at the evening. But needed go early sleep again, cause early work again next day. But then after my small dinner , I vomiting my soul out 4 hours long and had a pain my middle chest I never had in my entire life not. I was alone nobody could help me, I felt dizzy then, the next I know is I was also out of sense, lay on the bathroom floor, I dont know for how long, few minutes or longer... I had could die there, nobody had noticed, but as I awaked could finally myself alarm the ambulance. Crawling to my phone for that in the bedroom.. I never experianced that before like that. The checked me also for stroke but it was not, at least not acut.. But the problem is, its in my family as well. My father died after second stroke he was heartside half paralyzed.. My Grandfather Motherside as well, died on second stroke.. So its basically inside of me I think. And that was the day of change the things from one day to another... 10 Days in Hospital, operation at gall , they found out, liver problems and few other things and 4 weeks at home after the operation. Fast food and sweet soda all the time is a killer ... That was in my job many times the only way to eat, with crazy working times all time in the week, night shifts, early, late, sunday is a health killer and stress in social life, cause sometimes its just nothing possible for me , cause I have to work when other go to party, concerts or just a simple beer.. We have only one health and its sad to know, but most people dont are thinkable of that, they robber their body on devil come out until its final breath.. Thats just the sad truth. But we are many also forced to this in our modern world.. How I wished also just lay in the sun at a beach in the phillipines and just drink a watermelon juice.. If I could do, I would, I had not the problems as well that I have... We work far too much most, finally we need money, and pay all the bills we have to pay.. And for the life sweets we want. And that brings us to these points we start to eat unhealthy, too fast, cause no time for eat, all must go fast and in hurry, and need energy then for hold through the day... coffein, sugar, bit alcohol in my case after work sure only, other need nikotin like a smoking coal powerplant as stress canceler , some go even on drugs, etc. Even I not done all of that, the bit what I did at least with the wrong food was enough to fail to day X.... In my 20s I thought also I can do everything I want, in my 30s I worked overshifts days by days, but now with 54 my body say NOPE you cannot.. And everyone read this, note that, listen to your body... theres always signs to follow, do not ignorate them, it can be the last thing you ever did..

So I changed some things and my blood pressure has been good for five years now so hang in there. I know that I’m not the only one pulling for you. I have all the confidence in the world that you will be just fine mostly because you had the guts to assist and adjust the problem and also to share. Stay Well ❤💯👍

Colt thanks for sharing so much with us. You’re actually the second content creator this week that has mentioned having health issues. This has been eye opening because working from home, being a content creator, eating unhealthy and living a sedentary lifestyle has affected me as well, specially gaining weight. This is definitely motivation to make life changes. Thanks for all you do and I hope you continue on this path and are feeling better. Wishing you continued success

Colt, I really appreciate all you do for this community and Im sure you will find the answers you need. My mom was having a blood pressure problem too, so I started trying to find a solution. I started listening to Barbara O'Neil and she suggested taking a little Celtic salt with water to help high blood pressure. Because the myths surrounding salt causing H.B. just my not be true. Anyway adding some salt worked for my mom and she's 90 years old.

What an incredible story and it’s so good that you’re taking these steps. Many never take them and don’t make it. It’s so easy to eat poorly and work way too hard for too long in this country. It takes a toll on you if you let it. Your transparency here is awesome and it’s why your channel is one of the best on the platform.
