When most think of the Vanderbilt legacy and the Biltmore Estate, they think of regal décor and a high-class mentality. George Washington Vanderbilt made his way to the high mountains of North Carolina to aid his mother’s illness with the fresh mountain air and fell in love with the scenery in the mean time. The Biltmore Estate once owned a variety of livestock to sustain the family, workers and guests of the massive property. More than 100 years later, the estate still possesses a registered Angus herd to support the farm-to-table tradition established long before the current administration.
