Greetings from Raeford NC. I just inherited family property that has been in our family since 1834. It’s not a large spot of land, 56 acres, but approximately half of it has been farmed for the last 70 years by the same family since my great grandfather passed. I want to begin a small farm out of it and build a couple of houses on it. One for my wife and I and one for my son and grandkids. I don’t want to get into a large scale operation but I would like it to be enough to provide for my family and grow vegetables and a few animals to possibly sell what we don’t need. I have worked for a few of the local farmers over the years, mostly doing cotton &some beans but I am lucky to still have them as friends to glean information on. Prayers for you all that you will have a great season with as little problems as possible. I think it’s wonderful that you are continuing your long family history of farming. Keep it up. Much love guys🤙🏻🤙🏻

You guys really work hard. So many folks think that if your not planting, spraying or harvesting, farms have lots of down/free time. Growing up, on a much smaller farm, there is always, ALWAYS something that needs to be fixed, painted, changed, repaired or replaced. Love how the Cornstar family is letting the rest of the world see how hard farming really is! This was a good one Cole, looking forward to many more.

During the winter I only have like a month off because my dad and grandpa's branch of the family farm is only abt 100 acres and we only run 4 tractors so we don't have a ton to do when not baling hay, mowing, or planting crops. But there is always something to do whether it's big or small it needs to be done

When things are neat and orderly, it is a safer environment. When things are organized more efficient work can be accomplished. Efficiency and safety do not equal OCD. Neither is wanting things to look nice and to be functional OCD. To have dreams and to work relentlessly to achieve those dreams is not OCD. Cole, it is easy to look at your vision, drive, and work ethic and want to attribute those honorable character traits to some other cause (OCD, ADHD, etc) in order to make ourselves feel better about not accomplishing our own goals. I watch you and your family work and I get tired thinking about how exhausted I'd be. The other day I was picking up trash along the road in front of my place, it was tedious and I wasn't very motivated. I honestly thought about you cleaning up the yard and the big house and all around the farm. I figured if you could keep after it for years I could certainly do so for 45 minutes. I love the idea that by the time you're 30 all the big projects will be finished and you and all your family will be able to move on to bigger and better dreams that haven't even occurred to you yet. Keep up the good work - all of the Corn Star Family - it's going to pay great benefits as you move forward in life. God bless and thanks for sharing your family's farm and life with us. Peace!

In your mind you say you don't have OCD but others who see your videos may not believe you as you want things in certain places, I know I personally I have OCD some time it is manageable and other time it can get in the way of your daily life your life is your life you are the only person who can manage your own life I really respect you for being you and helping your family run your farm you will be blessed in life in whatever you do in life it is nice to watch your videos as I know I will never be able to do this as I was never exposed to the farming life. My life is Blessed with my wife we have been through Alot of hardship due to her health which we deal with daily she still lives at home as our home is handicapped accessible and has lifts for her to take showers and be able to get back into her hospital bed after her showers ETC. I was a millwright and ski lift mechanic but like you guys I worked on everything. One tool I always kept on hand were these simple 4 inch brass calipers, used to get them for 2 bucks each at Princess Auto. Bought a couple pairs from China last year and I'm long retired. I made sure everyone had them in their pocket at all times. Instead of two or three trips sizing wrenches I could throw calipers at it and size it in one shot. And if someone was calling on a radio I could somewhat size I needed and bring it with me. Saved me a lot of time over the years.

I learned so much including how to cook for 6 absolutely starving men with bottomless pit stomachs after being out in 100 plus temps that were so much hotter on the blacktop and whoever else straggled up. The car hauler was some fancy rig. Full kitchen, shower and sleeping quarters all air conditioned. It wasn’t exactly roughing it. I have fond memories of those years!

Cole, to break up that concrete pad start from the outside edge and work the tops and bottoms slowly chip away towards the center. You need a void to break big chunks into. Then you work it back to the edges again.
@Georges3DPrinters

If you start in the center, you don't go up and down, you hit it at an angle, but takes longer to start. I have seen a smaller bobcat breakdown some big stuff when I worked with a friend doing concrete cutting demo and coring. This one place with huge printers, like billboard size in one piece had some thick concrete that printer was bolted to. We had gone in to remove a thick slab area so they could put in a bigger slab for a bigger printer. Only had 2 bobcats on job site because bigger machine didn't fit through the roll up door or something. Sometimes you use what you got.

A very old method of breaking stone is to drill into it and, using wedges of increasing size, drive the metal in until the stone cracks. If you arrange the holes in a line and drive the wedges in sequence, you should be able to crack that concrete pretty easily. Seems to me you have a good start with the holes you’ve already drilled. There is a video series on YT on how to build a Medieval castle, in one vid, they demonstrate the technique and equipment.
