America is founded on "greed is good" while i don't agree with it, i think people will always see that. I feel like, a way to solve a lot of these issues is you are forced to hold stocks for X amount of time otherwise you suffer tax penalties. That way, politicians can't quickly buy/sell stocks for quick investment wins, while allowing them to still contribute to capitalism. Just a thought. I know it's meant to be in jest but Democrats really need to STOP saying "We're bad at messaging." and just do better. Stop asking journalists, media personalities, and even local organizations to "Help us!" when there's trained communications professionals, storytelling strategists, cultural workers, media makers etc. who they could hire -- who they probably have hired or consulted with previously yet ignored. Them Democrats don't have a messaging issue. They have a mission, vision, and goals issue, and for as long as neoliberal capitalists run and lead the party, there's no messaging or storytelling or visual design they can employ to convince people when what they're actually achieving is bare minimum, often too late (the need has become more severe) and doesn't have lasting or transformative impact. Yet, they're able to move fast, aggressively and definitively for corporate entities and millionaires and billionaires.

On the other side, I think that Biden's government has done so many things, really much, with huge effort, which had been completely forgotten/left out during Obama's reign out of laziness, naive good-will towards the Republican side. Tbh, Biden's policies have been fullfilling Obama's 2008 Message so much better than Obama hast ever done it himself. Biden's presidency has by far been the most progressive since the two Roosevelt presidents a century ago. They've secured homosexual marriage, done the historic Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Bill, and tried to pass a new Voting Rights Act. Now, it seems that they want to try reform the Supreme Court. Of course, it propably won't be successful, but afterall they've got really shitty, slim majorities to work with. It's important to remember that people in rural areas are often less educated due to underinvestment in education in these regions. Politicians and the billionaires backing them exploit these individuals to undermine the middle class in urban areas, which poses a real threat to their power consolidation strategies. Because the only thing leftists love more than fighting against centrists people is fighting against other leftists You literally have someone in this very comment section agreeing that "She wasn't pure enough" lmao Leftist infighting killed Elizabeth Warrens campaign. Had Bernie not run, she could have actually beat Joe Biden because she appeals to more than just leftists and actually has a chance in the general.

Why do I even have to file taxes in this day and age, even if it is free? Can't some government service just aggregate all my tax forms from my employers and financial institutions, crunch numbers, and tell me how much I owe or get back? That should work for at least 90% of people's tax situations

real answer, because the IRS can't know every detail of your life even if they have all your income recorded. They don't know if you signed your kid up to some program that allows for a tax deduction or if you've take some other action that would make they give you money back. in addition there's always the chance you did some off the books work that didn't produce a payroll filing with the IRS.

I feel the same.
