Quinoa salad is one of my staples! Yummy and filling. I’m allergic to almost everything so this is a great option for me. I usually eat it with some kind of chicken.

A tip from my mom. You should add the salt and dressing later when you’re going to eat. It keeps the veggies fresher and they don’t get soggy as fast.

I use to eat quinoa salad all the time during my uni days too! Mine had cilantro, cucumber, lime, sweet corn, tomato, onion, avocado and i would add chicken 😋

Yes, it usually has about 1/4C of mint and can add cucumber, I used to add it as well as green onion. I think I have that gene that makes cilantro/coriander tastes like soap to me 😫

I absolutely LOVE quinoa and as a high schooler it’s one of my favorite things to eat. Like my obsession with quinoa is so bad to the point that if I was offered to eat quinoa every single day for the rest of my life, I’d gladly do so. Not only quinoa should be soaked - also all sorts of rice 🍚 should be soaked in order to reduce the amount of aluminium in it ... Further more any grains should be soaked before cooking.

Only oryza sativa variety has Aluminum In it & even then only if it is cooked in an Aluminum pan - & if the water used has Fluoride in it. It's not the same as soaking quinoa. Koreans eat lots of rice & many vegetables - they rinse their rice as do most people but you don't have to soak the rice Unless you struggle to digest it but that's something else!🙏🇬🇧

For my 70th birthday this past May, I went to a Lebanese restaurant and ordered a personal mezze of salads - including tabbouleh, fattoush, and baba ghanoush - and appetizers - including grape leaves stuffed with rice and mint and kibbeh. I love these light, tasty, vegetarian dishes (except the kibbeh; I love it but it isn’t vegetarian). Instead of finishing with Lebanese coffee with cardamom, I began the meal with it. And what a meal! ❤😊

Saute quinoa in olive oil, add water or stock, bullion cube, cover and cook til fluffy. Combine olive oil, lemon juice, grated garlic, salt for dressing. Store separately until ready to eat. Mince or dice tomatoes, parsley, green onions. add to quinoa. Mix well.

I worked in a kitchen and we are not allowed to have fresh garlic out or in oil because it can get salmonella. I also was under the impression that quinoa and millet are supposed to be soaked and rinsed to get rid of tannic acid or it can be hard on the kidneys. You should be ok if it’s refrigerated but wanted to let people know to be careful.

@@darlenegera8866 They used to crush up 10 of the garlics and add to a metal container on the side of the grill that was half butter and half olive oil. The chef would brush the butter mix on the steaks and seafood. And use it to cook mushrooms etc. We also had to make the salad dressing per order for Caesar salad and Asian salads as well because they use fresh garlic. We had to change the way we did drawn butter for seafood as well if it was garlic-based.

@@darlenegera8866 Something annoying is they required that tomatoes be stored in the cooler even though that causes them to be mealy so that is one reason you can’t hardly ever get good tomatoes at restaurants. Not unless they were delivered that day.

You most likely mean kisir, because we don't eat tabbouleh. They look similar but there's some difference. I'd say that kisir is lighter and easier to palate whereas tabbouleh is very herby, like a pico de gallo with bulgur.

I mean, were you buying it from the same store? The issue with you might be that your supplier has contamination issues. I know chipotle had major problems with getting clean cilantro and that's why they kept having ecoli outbreaks

Never once have I heard this. Any restaurant you've been to stores parsley for days on end, and most supply chains add at least 1-2 days to the shelf time before a consumer even gets their hands on it. Maybe you didn't store it properly.

With all due respect, this is a quinoa salad. not a taboule. taboule is a Lebanese dish. It's made purely with parsley, mint, tomatoes, green onions, onions, fine bulgur (not quinoa), lemon juice and olive oil. nothing else incorporated, and no garlic.

Omg this is a Turkish dish/salad but only difference is that we use wheat (bulgur) instead of kinoa. And it's called Kısır! It's one of the most common things we prepare for our guests. Oh and we add tomato paste, spices to give it a little more spicey taste.

That is almost identical to my fave, I also add loads of chopped coriander, extra garlic cloves and mint to the veggie mix … Simple, tasty and lots of iron in parsley I believe

Yummmm!!! I always do kale and feta with mine (sometimes sweet potato on top) and its my favorite 😊 I make mine into lettuce wraps and it is so so so good
