rouse as in house, ex BTCC driver andy rouse started modifying cossies for ford themselves mk3s had 1.1 ohv, [fiesta lump] 1.3cvh, 1.6cvh, + the very rare 1.1cvh [with metro points, no electronic ignition]. the 1.4 was a later "economy" version with different pistons + head the mk4 dash is plastic, so doesn't crack, mk3 is hardboard tranny will have been used at airfield, so only came out to practice fire-fighting rangerover is same as mine, [rotbox] bought mine in 2002, £200 inc 1/2 tank of petrol...

I especially like the way you only include the hammer going down and the important final price rather than other videos make us suffer the whole bidding section. My dad use to work for Ford and one of the vehicles he worked on was the P100, one thing he had to do was prove it could do 100mph carrying 1 Ton in the bed, they did it on the test track that Dunton he said it was the scariest thing he ever did😂 they also built a 4x4 one but it wasn't green lighted by the board so somewhere on the Dagenham site there's a 1 off 4x4 P100 rotting away.

There was 14 ,1.6 & 1.8 CVH engines. I had a 1.8GL Sierra Sapphire in the 90's. To be honest the 1.8CVH was known to not last. Mine died at around 80-90K miles. The problem was ford opted to use the 1.6 CVH block and machined it into a 1.8L. They also had another 1.8L OHC engine on previous models that was much more reliable. for Performance I would say the CVH was a little better.

HI. Yes there was a 1.3 CVH engine, aswell as the 1.4 & 1.6, which eventually was turbo charged. S1 & S2 Escort turbos. The (Andy) ROUSE sport sierras are extremely rare, 304-R would designate the 4WD and the 302-R is the RWD cars iirc. I believe they were modded as well, not huge power, approx 270ish bhp, which was similar to most stage 1 chips. Andy Rouse BTCC RS500 campaigner back in the Grp A cossie days. 1989 & 1990 from memory. Eventually went on to build a very competitive Mondeo BTCC car, driven by himself and Paul Radisich.

Rouse Sport Chap Converted @Coventry Wkshops 302r & 304r cars. Changes consisting of: Smaller turbo + Rouse map Tyres Interior Exterior Plaque build number Retained warranty from Ford back in the day & with Ltd numbers left they now has become an extremely rare Cosworth. Andy himself might be interested as I did read some time ago he may consider getting one, tbh what a shame he could not of twisted FMC arm back in the day for him to have a car on the house so to speak. Also like all the MSport business owners from the 80’s/90’s why he doesn’t have a car collection baffles me, especially with his development input with the Sierra. Should have a beautiful car storage off main house with his championship cars imo & at least 1 of his Rs500 cars. Rare car & looks incredible, great era as back then all manufacturers where providing performance cars to the market & these cars had MSport pedigree so the connection to the consumer was perfect.

Just to add to a few other comments (being a bit of a Ford fanatic & a mechanic who cut his teeth on these engines) the Mk3 escort had a choice of 3 petrol engines 1.1 ohv 1.3 & 1.6 cvh and I'm sure a 1.6 diesel aswell but don't hold me to that. On the Mk4 there was a choice of 4 petrol engines 1.1 & 1.3 ohv and 1.4 & 1.6 cvh plus a 1.8 diesel. But I have to disagree somewhat with a quote that the engines were rubbish. I think the problem 90% of the time was poor maintenance on the owners side. Where I saw countless times where the oil was never changed and it would gunk up and block all the places it needed to be. 😮💨 🤦♂️🙂

don't forget the 1.1 cvh, we had 3 on our fleet, 1982, they used metro points, but the condensers were special order, ford only. oilchange every 6k, cambelt 36k, good engines them cvh, if you serviced them... [apart from the 1.1]

My 1989 Mk 4 Escort van had the 1.3 OHV as did all our 1.3 Escort cars. We LOVED Them. Stay Away from the CVH engine. OHV is Far Better. The CVH 1.6 was Crap also. the Mk1 fiesta 1600 OHV was way better. The 1100cc OHV was the Best Engine for a Mk 3 Escort. £4,000 for that Red CVH ? i Would pay £5,000 for a 1.1. i ran a hire fleet of mk3s, the 1.3 cvh was the first ford escort that would do a genuine 100mph, never had any bother out of them the 1.1 ohv used to burn valves all the time, or crack the head, or snap the sparkplugs lack of servicing / knackered VV carbs was the cvh weak link, i knew how to sort those carbs. the mk4 1.3 ohv was actually a fiesta 1100 based lump, latterly known as a HCS [high compression swirl], + was a backwards step, rattley +underpowered, fitted because it was cheaper every day for 3yrs i had to do a 70 mile round trip in 1hr, GGP626X, a white 1.3cvh, did the job + never missed a beat, + i have just checked, it lasted 10yrs...
