Indeed it was, especially for Raiden! I also believe that Bloodsport starring Jean Claude Van-Damme, was another inspiration for it as well!

Christine is the most underrated film because I’m a huge Stephen King fan. When I watched it the first time it was crazy and I wanted to view it after I heard from the book the car played Foreigner.

Carpenter’s best films are Halloween, The Thing, Christine, Halloween 2 (I count it as a Carpenter movie because he wrote it, did reshoots and I’m fairly certain had his hands all over it), In the Mouth of Madness & Big Trouble in Little China in my opinion.

Ghost of mars and vampire are shot very similar I think about the scene where the people on mars are mutilating themselves and the way it’s filmed it really reminds me of a scene from vampires when the main vamp and his crew are like preparing to fight.

You lost me at Vampires. That's actually a good movie and John Carpenter's hidden gem. Saying Ghost of Mars is better is just an insult. I would rate it way below Starman. James Wood is badass as the leader of the vampire hunters and Thomas Ian Griffith is quite intimidating as the head of the vampires. That massacre at the hotel is shocking and terrifying.

I’ve got still got a good chunk of his films to see since I want to see his “Golden Age” (70s and 80s) before watching his stuff from the 90s and 00s but here’s my ranking so far: 1. The Thing 2. Big Trouble in Little China 3. Escape From New York 4. They Live 5. Halloween 7. Prince of Darkness 8. Christine 9. Assault on Precinct 13 10. Starman 11. Dark Star As great as Halloween is, when John Carpenter works with Kurt Russell and/or Keith David some of the greatest art in cinema history is created

I agree with some of your picks and disagree with some, it's kinda 50/50. For me, Escape from New York is a masterpiece while movies like They Live and Big Trouble are just okay. In the Mouth of Madness is amazing though. I would rank it as one of his masterpieces. It's neck and neck with Silence of the Lambs as the best horror movie from the 90's.

So what is the proper way to say the title of one of his movies, can you just say they live and vampires? Or do you need to say John carpenters vampires and John carpenters they live? I feel like it’s the ladder.
