Getting the smaller rear cab is great to get the bigger bed and still have a good turning radius. This might be the best mileage you ever get because once you take the Michelin tires off your mileage will go down. If your digital mirror is like mine on the Power Wagon you can add a rear trailer camera onto the back of any camper setup you get and still have great review visibility using your rear view mirror.

Can’t speak on the newer Tundras but I drove a 2011 I purchased brand new until about 4 months ago. 13 years of ownership, 170,000+ miles and not a single issue with it just general maintenance on a lift and 35 x12.50 most of it’s life. Was a great truck. That was with the iForce V8 though, don’t know the longevity of their new engine but I’ve heard good things. Enjoy it! Yotas are great

Hi Talon, I have a very similar truck as yours: 3rd gen Tundra Limited TRD Off-Road, Double Cab, 6.5 ft bed. I like that you chose a double cab. It has a better stance than the crewmax in my opinion - more like a sports coupe vs a sedan. My Kimbo is being built right now. Collin tells me that I will have it by mid-April. Fyi, I got Air Lift 5000 airbags, Rough Country 1.75 front leveling kit and Falken WildPeak AT4 285 65R20 tires. I was thinking about putting 295's on but didn't want to risk rubbing especially with the Kimbo on top
@TalonSei
5 ай бұрын
Nice man! I agree, the double cab looks more "trucky" and I like that a lot. I don't have the need for big back seats for passengers. I think you will be completely fine with 295s. I am going big with the tires which will require a little bit of trimming, but with a proper install and airbags on your truck, I don't think you will have any issues.

Love your videos. I've noticed that most don't take the engine break-in period in the manual seriously. At least in the all the past Toyota's I've owned, it advises against "driving at a constant speed for extended periods". From the manual: Breaking in your new Toyota: To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended: ●For the first 200 miles (300 km): Avoid sudden stops. ●For the first 500 miles (800 km): Do not tow a trailer. ●For the first 1000 miles (1600 km): • Do not drive at extremely high speeds. • Avoid sudden acceleration. • Do not drive continuously in low gears. • Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods What are your thoughts?
@TalonSei
5 ай бұрын
It’s a recommendation that has been around for years and years. With how vehicles are built today, I follow it loosely and just try not to beat on the truck and keep it in lower RPMs whenever possible.
@Fernweh_8
5 ай бұрын
Most people seem to feel the same way about it. I've even had dealers say that it's not a big deal. I'm a bit ocd and figure the engineers put it in there for a reason so I follow it....With that said, it's pretty annoying...LOL Nice truck, man. Can't wait to see what you do with it. @@TalonSei

So now that you have the Tundra, you're still keeping the Tacoma as well, right? (or trading it in for the 4th gen when it comes out). What about keeping the Taco as your crawling/technical overlander, and building up the Tundra for more of a remote expedition vehicle? IE not geared so much towards technical terrains, but built up for really long-range adventuring far from home. Like Alaska and such
