I'm from Austria and i work with such machines for 12 years now (we got two ET360 and oder emcos). I really like the Sinumerik 810 but the main problems with these machines is that original spare part prices are getting out of hand and that's why we're moving away from such old machines in our shop. However, this machine is really robust and doesn't break very often. In my opinion the machine isn't very good for CAM programms because of it's limited space for programms and also it's limited use in general. If you have any questions about programming it on the machine just let me know. Nice video and keep going!.

Thanks! The shop I got it from said it held tolerances perfectly and they have never had an issue that way. It is very heavy so I'm pretty sure it is made to last. I can understand how parts are getting hard to come by, hopefully I don't run into anything major. I got it sending and receiving data now so i just need to figure out post processor. I appreciate the offer, and I will reach out for sure if i need some help. (likely will!!)

I work daily on a 26+ year old lathe. Works like a dream and i got it hooked up to CAM, so production has increased

I love the older stuff. Always seems to be built better

A mate of mine has just done the same thing. He is a self taught machinist . Started off with a new 4 axis machine with a Siemens controller. He quickly found it's limitations so he's bought a couple of bigger old machines very cheaply. He is going to upgrade the controls with a modern controller. He uses Fusion 360 also. All for a very affordable price relatively speaking . Lots of potential there if you've got the space and the power supply. Looking forward to see how this develops for you. According to my mate it's pretty addictive.

Yeah i like the older machines myself also. Not just because the price point is better, but i think the machines are built better. I'm super new to cnc but love it so far!

stubs for the MGR axle hey, have you gotten decent power out of one, being they are wound for 600v? i know recent success with the latest openinverter firmware @ 400v makes it usable

I have really back burnered that project as customer stuff has been busy, but it is always on my mind. I am trying to retrofit another inverter as i have always had a minor issue with the resolver offset being so hard to nail in the openinverter. But i have also always had half and idea to try to incorporate the toyota or similar boost/buck converter to run at 600V

I literally love old cnc machines, I have a 1989 Mikron vf21d tnc 355 at home that I run through a fusion 360, which is interesting because it works perfectly on an unedited 155 post processor one day I will definitely take an old cnc lathe, I just don't know which model, but it must also have a C axis

That console interface looks like it is from the 70s not the 90s. I know we had to do some weird stuff with our Hass to get it working with fusion. Wish I could help but one of the other guys got it going and I was working on other things.

No problem, appreciate it anyways. Yeah it is old enough the crt screen has burned in!

Why not, much of the machinery I designed in the early 90 is still in operation. 50 + machines, not bad for a design team of three.

@519Kustomz that would work better for a rear engine Porsche 👍 even an AWD 911, using a prius or GS/LS inverter! 🤔

@@519Kustomz thanks for the encouragement! I had a breakthrough about 10 minutes ago when I managed to get the old software installed on a windows xp vm so here’s hoping
