Someone should organize a cross country rally where you can only use the most unreliable cars ever built. We make a top ten list that people vote on and those are the only cars allowed. I think this one might make it on that list and do really well and by well I mean it probably won't make it out of Kansas. What other cars should be on that list?

Doing business as a vehicle, manufactured home dealer or salesperson in the state of Kansas requires a license issued by Kansas Department of Revenue, Dealer Licensing. A vehicle dealer constitutes a person who purchases a vehicle with the intent to sell for a profit, or sells 5 or more vehicles within a calendar year. In this Dealer Handbook you will find complete instructions and licensing requirements for Kansas Vehicle and Manufactured Home Dealers and Salespersons, as well as forms necessary for your business operations. We hope this will be a valuable source of information for those licensed to manufacture, distribute, or sell vehicles or manufactured homes in the state of Kansas, as well as for those involved in the enforcement of these regulations.

The rear window pinch issue. To reset it. bring it all the way up. Then hold on the button in the up position for say 20sec. Then bring it down and repeat. Sometimes you may need to try a few times. The dashboard christmas tree lights flashing for ABS ASC CEL etc could also be due to a weak battery for the E65. For the doors closer that don't hold its position, its normally due to the orange colored rubber bushing that disintegrate over time ( found inside the door panel) . Try that first before replacing the door closer shocks. You can get the orange bush at Ebay or Ali for a song. Hopefully it works for u

That 7-Series DIDN'T start the super-luxury car trend. That honour goes to the early-90s Mercedes-Benz S-Class that replaced the W126. Think about it, no cars had double glazed windows or massage seats before that one. And, although the styling was pretty hideous, it was definitely a better can than that generation of 7-Series, even if they did have more than their fair share of problems, especially for a Merc...

I know a lot about these cars. The major issue with these cars are expensive parts and service in addition to ego-driven middle class people who can afford to buy these cars but can't afford to service them. I worked with a guy who had a 15 year old BMW. Ran like a top and zero was wrong with it. However, he had it in the shop for ALL preventive maintenance, all work was done by BMW, and when something did break, he had it fixed right away. Now... obviously this guy spent three times as much as the car's original MSRP after 15 years of service when it was all said and done. He knows I am a car guy and he loves talking about the car and showing me his paperwork. However, this guy ALSO makes well over six figures and can afford to buy and service the car. I also worked with a guy somewhere else who made mid $50k. Bought a pre-owned BMW from a dealer. Financed it. Got the oil changed at those fast lube places and only had the car serviced when it was broken enough he could not drive it. Always had it serviced at one of those "foreign car specialist" repair places. He always bitched the car was a real piece of sh*t and that he hated the car but in the same breath would always brag he owned a BMW. Always had it detailed though. So like I said, BMWs have a bad wrap because they allow people who can't afford to fix them to purchase them. You don't see that issue with Ferraris do you? Oh and JR, don't get any ideas!!! Been watching your channel long enough to know when I might make one of those comments that turn on one of those light bulbs you got in your head. LOL

I've considered getting into this generation, but they're just not as pretty as the E38's, so I'll continue to drive my 01 E38 until I die, because no one seems to be able to make a large, comfortable, classy sedan any more.

I'd really like to get into an Alpina E65 but other than that I'd take an E38 all day

Great to see Gabe again! Nice summary on the coded faults. Between BMWs not holding value from new and expensive repairs I plan on keeping my Ford and GM cars. Do enjoy your vids though.

John. Create a WatchJRTech channel where you do car and non-car related tech projects... Like making the BMW diag software work on a Thinkpad... T400? Or was that a T61?

Love the ThinkPad. Bonus points for using the TrackPoint. I'm definitely not hardcore enough for that.

It's crazy to think about the depreciation over 16 years. My 03 accord is worth more!

What the heck? My Lexus LS460 has soft close doors and power shades and heated steering wheel and navigation and all the goodies I can’t list em all. All of that came standard on the bad LS, but it you have the LS460L ultra luxury package or executive packaging you get the shiatsu massage rear seats heated ventilated rear seats etc. plus it all still works lol, nothing is broken except one of the power folding mirrors is slower than the other.

In Australia, there are some places where you can get struts rebuilt, less expensive than replacing them. The one near me gives a 12 month guarantee on the refurbishment.

On the e39 you can scan the engine with the cable you have. To scan the other modules you need to plug it in to the diagnostic port under the hood. You need an adapter for it.
