Remember carburetor is choke on start for first 30 or so seconds then half choke for another 30 or so seconds then choke off. And if you give it too much gas it can flood the engine and you have to vent off the fuel. And never use old rotten gas when trying to fix or troubleshoot. Air + Spark + Fuel and you have bad fuel which could hide problems with spark or air mix.

That is actually bad for the spark plug coil, you should hold the plug against the engine and look for spark between the gap. Use a different plug if you suspect the plug is defective. A little silicone grease makes it much easier to assemble those rubber pieces.

Hey Spite. Got a quick story for you that I hope you see. It will definitely give you a laugh. I'm a subcontractor and have been working on and off at the same site for about a year. One of the guys there bought an SMCR a while ago. Talked to him about it and he loved it. Haven't seen it there my last few visits. Now today I arrive and what is parked in the same spot? That's right a Ducati Hypermotard. Ran into the guy and asked him what happened and he said it keep breaking and taking ages for the dealership to fix it and he just got sick of having to deal with the issues so he traded it in for the used Ducati. And even funnier this is the same guy that gave another guy working there shit about buying a CF Moto because it was a cheap Chinese bike that was going to fall apart. Almost a year of ownership later his 650NK has been perfect.

A couple of thoughts.. That airbox bottom also works as a mud deflector for the rear tire. It is useful to keep the whole thing in there to use as a box for accessories like supplemental fuse boxes, relays, stuff like that. Also, the Nibbi pe30 is honestly really big for a stock, unmodified engine. You can get it to work, but it won't be quite as crisp and good as a pe28 or even a basic vm26.

15:14 I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that metal bracket on the spark plug wire is supposed to mount to that boss just to the right of the bright red knob on the carburetor. Line up the eye on the bracket with the hole, thread a screw in there (maybe with a washer depending on the hardware you have available), and you're good to go. No more floppy spark plug wire.

@@spitescorner I have tons of "projects", in addition to my day to day. I still find it to make way more sense to test before replacing. start with the simple stuff first and work your way in to the more major issues. if a part ( like your coil ) is testing bad, it could just be a bad ground or bad wire. if it IS something that simple or turns out to be something further up stream, like stators or rectifiers. replacing a coil doesn't fix the issue. more so, if one of those components cooked the coil to begin with, you are just setting yourself up to fry another one. if you thought the issue was fuel flow do to a crusty carb, rather than just bolting on a different carb is not how you check that issue. you start by making sure you are actually getting fuel to the carb. pull the bowl and spray some carb cleaner and compressed air though the jets. taking a carb they is already set up to run off a non running bike with other issues 'how you sort that out. there is no such thing as a bolt on and go universal carb. they need proper jetting and mixture adjustments, at least to a baseline. going to a larger unknown carb just means you have no idea where that baseline should be for the needle and seat, jetting or air screw adjustment to make it run at all. and now you have an electrical issue to sort out. have you even checked to make sure the petcock isn't plugged so you know that you are even getting proper fuel flow? you did say the bike has been setting a few years. have you checked to make sure there is no corrosion on electrical terminals... IS THE KILL SWITCH OFF? you had spark. and then you didn't. is there a bad neutral, side stand or clutch safety switch that is interrupting the spark. the bike was crashed after all. you see what i'm saying?

I have a CSC TT250 which is pretty much the same bike with the exception of the suspension and the CG engine is counterbalanced. One of the common issues with them is that the igniter coil goes out which is part of the stator and it will run for a few minutes and then die. I had to replace it on mine. Also those carbs are pretty crappy in stock form but they take regular Kehin jets. Most people swap them out for either a Mikuni clone or a Nibbi. I got a Mikuni clone for about $30 and it ran a lot better. I actually put 16K miles on mine before I got it too hot and caused a bearing failure. I bought a Lifan CG engine and put that in. Now the igniter coil has gone out in this engine too but that's a project for another day. I would definitely check the igniter coil because it took me months to figure that one out because it would only quit when it got hot. I'd let it cool off and it would run for another 5 minutes....lol.

Fun project! Even if it's chinese, it should just be able to run. Around Asia there are a lot of small displacement bikes like this. Bet it'll be a lot of fun and maybe a cheap option to be able to off road as well without spending thousands and just have fun on it. If it remains reliable that is, shouldn't be much of challenge I guess. I bet you'll sort it out, a new coil pack might do the trick. But wouldn't one of a 250 Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha or whatever is available to you, fit? Usually a lot of these are interchangeable, they can't be that different.
