That trailer isn't newly painted underneath. That is a brand new chassis. They likely had to replace the whole assembly. It's cheaper to buy the whole piece. Once it twists in an accident, it's not worth it to straighten it out. Get an alignment on that trailer and a fresh DOT inspection, just to check everything out.

I noticed that, too, that Yousiff was using those channel-lock pliers backwards relative to the direction of rotation. With those as well as crescent wrenches (a.k.a. "adjustable wrench") and pipe wrenches, whether you are loosening or tightening, you always want to have them oriented so that the back side of the "bight" (the tool's "opening") -- like the middle 1/3 of the letter "C" -- will tend to *PUSH up AGAINST* the piece of hardware (nut, bolt, pipe, shower head flange, air coupling/fitting/flange, etc.) that you are turning *rather than* have that mid-third of the "C" tending to *PULL AWAY* from it as you turn. If you have the tool oriented the other direction, such that it would tend to pull that back part of the "C" *AWAY from* the piece of hardware, then that means that the jaws of the tool are tending to stretch open (even if not immediately noticable by the naked eye), which also means the tool is loosening its grip on the turned piece more and more the harder you push to rotate it, which, in turn, means that either you are more likely to damage whatever peice you are trying to turn or, in the case of channel-lock pliers, you are requiring yourself to squeeze tighter and tighter as you turn just to keep the tool doing _it's_ job of gripping the piece that's being turned.

Sounds like it went off road when it rolled over and needed repairs underneath. Paint was probably for protection from the elements. Watch tire wear for alignment.
@KatherineCracks

Looks like a good buy, did you check the tandems slide properly? Also I’d definitely get a trailer wheel alignment, you don’t want your tires wearing out to fast or wearing unevenly. I’d also check the brake chambers thoroughly if it’s been on its side but a dot inspection should pick everything up From the damage I’d say the truck jack knifed and ended on its side, it probably had some frame damage at the front which has been repaired and painted all over probably as it got scratched up and needed painting to protect from rust.

@1stNoCleverName
2 жыл бұрын

I am willing to bet that this trailer is put together from 2 or more trailers lol and only vin is from the original. That is why you are not seeing damage on your trailer which has been turned over in an accident and has salvage papers. Man! You keep getting expensive lessons😬 Learn from others and ask, ask and ask! Before you dish out your hard earned money. Good luck P.S. Possible scenario…This trailer was in an accident, the cost of repairs was more than the value of the trailer, so insurance wrote it off and paid owner value of trailer(which was less than repairs). Messed up trailer went to insurance auction and someone bought it for super cheap with other messed up trailers written off by insurances and from multi-messed up trailers, someone put together(fixed) one trailer that looks good but is very far from good lol It is basically Frankenstein of a trailer made by a slick person who makes a very good living of selling junk.
