Hi Kev! This video made me decide to get round glasses. I wear glasses since highschool and always choose square ones. This is the first time I looked on youtube for recommendations and luckily the algorithm chose you. 😁 My myopia increased from - 1.75 to - 2.50 in just 1 year and a half. Good luck on your next videos!

@katydid5088

@@kolbymeyers66 Not the original commenter, but I have a good 1.74 index lenses and when I have a high prescription (beyond -6 diopters in both eyes and astigmatism that is thankfully, mild). The lens thinning definitely helps with the lens distortion. I have an emergency pair of glasses that I got in a 1.64 index material that while being a similar prescription are WAY thicker and have more visual distortion than my current lenses. My advice is to go with lenses that don't reach outside your face. To put it more clearly, get lenses which match the natural width and height of your face. (Lens height is important when trying to fit a high refractive index prescription. Your clinic will tell you if your choice of frame will fit your level of correction.) The more the frames reach outside that range the more people will see the distortion. Best of luck!

Don't buy like this. Get a prescription, buy online from US online stores. US$50 would get you a very very nice pair. Wait for the promo. While you're at it, because of the cost of shipping, buy two more cheap no frills pairs priced $6-$10 (frames + lenses included, no coatings, high index, sunglass clipons etc). These days, I only buy those $6-$12 max, and buy 2 or 4 at a time. AND I get my whole family and some friends, and place everything in one order to spread the cost of shipping. I have so many pairs at home now. 😁 My prescription is just under -7. That thing about high power lenses and frames being super expensive? We've been had. Online "normal" power runs all the way from +6 to -12 !!!

How'd you get AX 14 and 173? They measure to the nearest degree in Australia? Or is that from an auto-refractor? In Malaysia, they just round to the nearest 20° and call it a day. @danielch6662

@@premarora7539 no. Don't do it. High myopia eyes are not defective. We do not have poor vision. Our eyes are simply tuned to a different focusing range. We receive eyeballs shaped like this because of our lifestyle. Specifically, when we were growing up. I am now nearing 60. As you get older, you will get presbyopia. Everybody gets it. Unavoidable as death and taxes. It usually becomes noticeable around the age of 40, +- a couple of years. As you get past the age of 50, our accommodation range will trend towards zero, at which point you would realize the advantages of having eyeballs with a fixed focus range that is much closer than 1m. What about before that? What is the advantage of having a focusing range from 5cm to 3m, instead of 20cm to infinity? Your eyes are like magnifying glasses. You can see things that people with "normal" vision cannot see, if you can get the object close enough to your eye. High power myopia is like high powered magnifying glasses permanently attached to your face. The higher the power, the greater the "magnification".

See how close you can focus. Place the object as close to your eye as possible. I'm now nearly 60. My lens is now as hard as a crispy fried bacon. My accommodation range is nearly non-existent. But when I was in my 20s, I could focus down to less than 2 inches (5cm). I discovered myopia gave me a superpower. I could see things normal people could not, without a good and expensive commercial grade magnifying glasses. THAT convinced me NOT to get LASIK.
