I use the nx drivetrain on all my hardtails. I’ve had a lot of luck with it and I can switch my rear wheels back and forth amongst bikes. The nx price is low to help my bike builds. I’m 59 and I think the nx quality and tech is pretty high vs. what I had in the 80s-90s and early 2000s. Being able to use a hg wheel keeps compatibility good. I thing the nx is on par with the shimano 6100 series. When you go higher on sram you have to go sram wheels and when you go higher shimano you have to go only shimano wheels. That limits your switching around from bike to bike fast.

I’m sure you may be beyond this point, but if you are running the Lyrik base (Rush damper) that could be part of the problem with setup. From those that I know who have it, it doesn’t setup quite like a select. If you put on a fork you’re familiar with it might be a game changer

I ride a 2021, not MX, 27.5 Nomad that I absolutely LOVE but yeah, the PRICE!!! Anyway, you already know this but a Fox 38 up front and a coil DHX2 shock will supply all the plushness you could ever dream of no matter what tires you run, but maybe at the expense of losing some of that overall snap and poppiness? It will certainly add more expense in a monetary sense, lol! Also the root beer color is cool but I cannot fathom why Santa Cruz did away with their coolest color ever; Oxblood! Root Beer comes pretty close to Oxblood, just a little less sinister. ;-)
