Thankyou Sir! This is great for a Lake lover like myself, this is the best Lake video since CKFlyer in the Bahamas! I have to admit, I’ve been falling for seaplanes lately, mainly Helios and Maules but I love the idea of a Lake! I’ve read that flight time is basically 4 hours and it’s time to land, has that been your experience? P.S. I wish they were faster, any way to increase the speed? I’ve seen some pictures and a video of a modified Lake Buccaneer IO560 and retractable sponsons

I'm glad you enjoyed the series. The trip back from Oregon was amazing. Unfortunately the only way to make Buccaneers go faster is to point the nose down. :) Towards the end of production, the Lake LA4-200EP was produced. 43 were made in total. They incorporated a few modifications to the engine housing, extended the prop, and added batwings. The result was a slightly faster plane, but overall it just looks better and has lower slow speed capabilities. The Lake holds 54gals with the sponson tanks. A prudent person plans on 11gph in cruise so, at 4hrs, you're down to your 1hr reserve. Safe Skies!

There's a turbocharged model out somewhere. I don't know how many were built, but they supposedly go up to 150 knots compared to 115-125 of other models.

Don't understand why people find the need to have annoying music backgrounds in their videos.

Any plane will try to kill you, however Lake’s are most successful in doing so!

Looked at float/amphibs back in the 80s 90s but was awfully vague back then about where and where not to land. having to find the agency actually in charge and numbers to call for permission. Even the SBA wasnt much help. What about now, any easier? Yes im a pilot who had to put it off for family and flight school closing and taking everyone money but Im always amazed at a pilot that is wore out buy flying an airplane. Maybe there was a lot of actual hand flown IFR I didnt see so ill give you that. Thanks.

Where did you get your Lake specific training? I'm in coastal Georgia and I see you're up north of Charlotte.

There are a few instructors on the approved list in the area. Harry Shannon in Bartow, FL is great and definitely worth the trip to meet.
