Bratislava was the second largest city in Czechoslovakia, now its capital of Slovakia.Tesla Bratislava was specialized on making radios. There is a way how to retune FM part to standard 88-100+ MHz. Or if you have strong FM signal, you can recieve 88-95MHz due to mirror reception, because if you add 2x10,7MHz, 65-74MHz band is mirrored as 86,4-95,4MHz. The music is not typical pop music from 60s. Both songs are connected with russian occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968. First one (18:55) is called Morituri te salutant and the second one (19:05) Let peace stay with this country. It became a symbol of that time.

If you have a US digital to analog converter box then from what I have seen of Shango066 and RadioTVPhonoNutt's videos, these typically output on channels 3 or perhaps 4 . The channel 3 audio is 65.75 and the channel 4 autio is 71.75. Which the radio ought to piick up well. Living in western Europe I have picked up a lot of Band II DX, one of the best was Radio Rijeka from Croatia, but regrettably never any OIRT, as yet. In Russia it is mainly the state channel Radio Rossii still on OIRT, not sure about Belarus, and in Ukraine the current focus is probably on AM as these transmissions are most easily received in shelters. All the other countries that used the band have moved to band II (87.5~108). Long wave is almost dead and I'm not surprised you didn't bother mentioning it or if you did it was such a brief mention it didn't register.

ECL86 is the output amplifier. It's a combination tube of a triode (preamp) and a pentode (power amplifier). The naming scheme is as follows: E: 6.3 V heater voltage C: The triode L: The pentode 8: 9 pin noval socket 6: model number/variant The main component keys are: A, B: Rectifiers C: Triode F: Pentode H: Heptode L: Power output pentode M: Magic eye I hope that this helps, greetings from Germany

small correction. A,B are general purpose diodes and double diodes. Single diode rectifiers are Y and double ones are Z.

Whats interesting is how different this is for American sets. We had a fairly simple convention. It was the voltage of the heater first followed generally by two letters. And these naming conventions changed over time. Early US sets had mostly just 2 numbers like say- a 27, 42, 81. Later two letters were added. Like 35Z5 for a rectifier, 50L6 for output, 12SK7 for one of the IF tubes.

@@misterradio5035 This is based on german system, so its systematic. The first letter specifies the heater, but not exactly by voltage. For heaters connected in parallel heater voltage was specified, so A is 4V, E is 6,3V and D is 1,3-1,4 V for heaters running from battery. But there are other variants - for serial heaters connection. So P is for 0,3A current (used in lot of TV sets, hot chassis), U is for 0,1A current (used in european hot chassis radios). The second and other letters describe system. So if you have tube with diodes and triode, it may look like PABC80 - so its 0,3A heater with diode, 2 diodes with common cathode and triode in one tube. Often combination of 2 systems in one tube was used - like the ECL86 or ECC85 in this radio. Then there are 2-3 numbers. First number is socket type. No first number had old european tubes with side contacts and top g1 pin, 1 is german steel 8pin, 2 is loctal, 4 is rimlock, 8 is noval, 9 is 7-pin. Last numbers are for exact model. So if you just look at tube name, you know what kind of tube it is. It was used all over Europe including eastern block except soviets.

I stopped drinking about six months ago for no reason. Like you, I lost a shit ton of weight (24 Lbs so far) and also like you, I'm eating candy like crazy. Chocolate covered raisins and chocolate covered almonds. Likely equally bad for me. Keep me away from the bulk candy section of Winco 🙂

I brought an early 80s East German transistor AM/FM/shortwave back from Europe with me, and though it was made for 220 volts it performs perfectly on 110 volts without any changes whatsoever. And the word you had trouble with is the name of a large central European city.

I don't know how true it is, but I heard once that the British accent has changed since colonial days and the American accent is actually closer to how the British used to sound.

Its fairly specific. I am originally from the southern part of the US and there were parts in the mountainous regions where some of dialect was closer to 17th century English. Many of those areas were completely cut off from the rest of the country. It wasn't until the middle of the 20th century when the freeway system came in that some of the remote areas became more accessible. Much of that has now disappeared. The closest is now in some of the dialect used in southern African American communities. Pretty interesting.

@@misterradio5035 I spent much of my childhood in Germany and Italy. When I listen to people speaking German in some of the areas of the US where the German Churches were so strong, it's understandable, but very much stuck in the 18 and early 19th century. Fascinating! I think it's cool that there are places where earlier English dialects were preserved.

Tube substitution revealed here: ECC85 is 6AQ8 , EBF89 is 6DC8 , EAA91 is 6AL5 , ECL86 is 6GW8 , EM 84 is 6FG6 per Howard SAMs tube substitution handbook. I hope you find out how to adjust the coils to tune our standard FM band across it's dial. I know it can be done but the numbers on the dial won't reflect what you are tuned to when completed. You are getting to be a hoity - tioty foreign radio collector Seth. I approve only because you show them getting the old "once over" like this Tesla on your channel! Steve from IL

The 66 to 73 MHz FM is the OIRT standard that was mainly left adopted in the eastern bloc countries when most western countries adopted the not necessarily so much newer standard ca. 87-108. AFAIK Ukraine, Moldavia (sp?) and Belarus stick with the OIRT standard, while OIRT joined EBU after the fall of the Soviet Union and most other eastern countries have since converted to "western" FM. Also in Russia the national Radio Rossii still has OIRT FM stations but the Republic of Karelia has decommissioned them.

One recommendation, do not use WD-40 near radio circuits. The film it leaves behind especially when combined with any dust already present seems to form either capacitance or conductance that can really affect the radio performance especially on FM. Had this happen on a few radios I worked on in my early days as a technician, mainly stereo receivers. It took me a while to figure out why several of the receivers I had worked on would end up with awful radio reception even if they had been working perfectly previously, this despite not having worked on the radio circuitry. Turns out the WD40 I was using to clean volume pots or other such controls would drip down to the PCB and from that point on the radios would never function the same even if I tried re-aligning it. The only way would have been to get the WD40 out of every nook and cranny the oil had seeped into.

Great show I just add some input if you dont have 240 volt out let in your garage you may be able to intergeat 2 120 volt lines with heavy duty. Extension cords going to separate circuits rated at 25 amps or more to separate 240 out let box. Once you intergate the extension cords to the box plug each line in on separate circuits then you will have enough power high voltage application

Glasslinger and David Tipton could both restore that cabinet for Seth to perfection. As, I suspect could Seth's wife with him, it that were important to him. Of all the brands VAG acquired during their expansion mania, Škoda was the only one which turned out not to need gigantic amounts of help learning quality control. I got to spend a lot of time as a young girl in Europe and Czechoslovakia (no longer exists, of course) was one of the few countries under Soviet domination which had a relatively advanced technology sector.
