Now somebody is thinking. Sometimes I pick up free/next to free stuff I personally need like a hole in the head with my simple lifestyle. But not a year goes by and there is some family in the news whose house burns down over the Christmas holiday, or there is a penniless single mom needing to start over. Bedding, kids clothes, tote bags, etc. And I support a few grass roots organizations needing give aways and prizes every year and I don't have the means to sponsor them with cash.

So, in many facilities (including the one I worked in), things went on the pallets randomly; there was virtually no rhyme or reason for what when on them, other than "does it fit?" Now, if a vendor requested a pallet be pulled for liquidation, then that's where you'll see pallets of mostly the same thing, although sometimes some of those pallets will have other things added to them, if the pallet is not very big to begin with. The barcode on the Christmas balls you scanned is an LPN, which is not the original barcode that came on the packaging; that's typically placed on when a barcode has been damaged, or a product has been returned and put back on the shelf for resale. You are correct that some items are returned unopened, or even just shipment refused, and then it's immediately liquidated onto these pallets the moment it comes back in, especially if there are batteries in them, which were generally slated for destruction.

I made my money back but over a couple of years while also taking up a large part of my garage and far too many hours of my life. So glad now to watch others do it. :-) In the end you'll have easily gotten your money back in a variety of ways such as any monetization of this video; any incidental costs pulling people in for your sponsors; selling some items for even 25% of the retail value; selling many items on our local internet marketplace for only 1 or 2 pounds each and you'll still have lots to give to your charity. Hopefully giving a useful life to some of these items that would immediately end up in a landfill. Plus the good will of your wife and kids as they will get some free gifts from Dad. So win-win-win.

HDMI is a digital signal. Technically, you can get quality issues, but the drop-off is so steep that normally, it either works or it doesn't. You can have a marginal quality cable that works, delivers the signal just enough to work. Same picture as the expensive cable. They both degrade over time, at some time one of them reaches a point where the signal gets bad enough to cause issues. At this point, a tiny change (like, route is a bit different, straighten out a kink, etc.) can restore quality or drop it off entirely. The fun part is, even cheap cables will take long enough to degrade to the point of getting issues that all devices with these ports are probably so outdated it's no longer fun to use them.

How did you get in a position to select a pallet? Everyone I’ve seen does this before just gets sent a random one in a particular category (art or clothing or beauty or household etc) and they have no choice. Or they choose from a picture. I’m impressed you got the go to see it in person.

I saw a few I liked on Facebook and went down to see them myself, had a look around and ended up picking the one in this video
