I like guys like you, You remind me of guys like me. I restored a 1969 Z28 with my best friend. He had been looking for a Z for months. One day while driving our way to Austin from Killeen he spotted the roof of a camaro next to what looked like a warehouse, which turned out to be a barn. We turned back to take a look and it was a 69 Z28, all original. It had been rolled in a drag race, the original motor was in the trunk. We made an offer he accepted, and we were off to the restoration. We had to replace the roof, hood and both rear fenders, all parts we were able to purchase off of car magazines at the time (1978). It took us 2 years of working on weekends and holidays. I taught myself how to weld and he did most of the mechanic work while I assisted. I haven't seen him in years (I moved away). I hear he still drives it daily, red with white stripes. Then we resorted my 1969 427/390hp Corvette. I sold it years later. Then we restored my brothers 1971 Challenger 340 with 202 heads, Plum Purple...what a blast. I'm old now, but those are some of my most cherrished memories.

Saw your whiteboard in this video. Don't Mod the E63! The AMG engineers got the M156 motor about as perfect from the factory as you can converting a purpose built DOHC race unit for street use. I started modding mine and found the motor, computers and sensors have much tighter tolerances than other cars, you'll probably be chasing codes and misfires forever. Even changing the air filters to aftermarket on mine threw codes. I mean heck the thing will already hit 200 mph stock with a tailwind. Just my 2 cents, Second owner 2007 W211 E63, 4 season daily driver 115K now stock (again).

just watched a video on the the valve issue from the engineers actually and the valves being titanium plus the manufacturing tolerances on the valve seats and guides being wrong were not properly built due to being outsourced. titanium would wear everything and eventually cause the common ls7 valve issues

Hi Chris, I just found your channel yesterday and have been binge watching all day today, great work and knowledge. I purchased an 04' C5 stock Vette LS1 engine with 10,500 miles a couple of months ago after selling a '03 Boxter. You seem to be very knowledgeable with the Chevy engines and was wondering if I might PM you with a couple of questions. I am looking to boost the HP a little with intake, exhaust and maybe a few other suggestions from you. Not looking to go to crazy but would like to work on the (new to me) Vette. I enjoy getting my hands dirty and I am a welder from way back in my construction days. If you can help with some ideas I would be most appreciative. Thanks Kevin Sheehan

Subscribed Chris. You seem very level headed and knowledgeable and I look forward to your rebuild of one of the great performance cars, the C6 Z06. I am in the stock is best camp but I prefer originality...especially if the plan is to flip the car....consider that if changing the wheel finish or wrapping the roof. PS. No telling why the motor grenaded. Previous owner could have run it out of oil which is common if an eye isn't kept on it running high RPM at the track, could have missed a shift etc. Will be real curious to see the status of the heads...how you pull the motor out with the torque tube etc. Best of luck
