Anything to help reduce motor movement on the N5x is so important especially to avoid the serpentine belt and power steering pulley breaking from movement. When motor mounts fail, collapse, or start to have movement, the serpentine belt *WILL* start to have issues, if not very big ones. This is very good insurance. and hopefully avoids a considerable headache.

I just did this a couple of weeks ago. I had Revshift 80A Motor Mounts on both sides and it was a lot of NVH. I also had Revshift transmission mounts which added to that. So I took the driver side out and replaced with stock 335i Genuine BMW mount and filled it with this 3M stuff to see if it would reduce NVH. I might have reduced it a tiny bit. So I replaced the Revshift transmission mounts with Rogue Engineering mounts and that also helped a tiny bit with the NVH. The only thing that really stops the NVH is raising your idle speed to 900RPM. Once the Revshift 80A passenger side mount goes south, I will replace it with the stock 335i mount with this 3M stuff and see how that feels. And I will also restore the car to stock idle RPM of 600. How is your car holding up so far with the mounts? Still good?

in all honesty I would say you are just increasing the tendency for vibration in the car. As far as performance I would say that urethane will squeeze out of there in no time. Or sooner if oil gets in contact with it. We would do something similar to this with the W124 126 and 201 Mercedes mounts. The bottom line problem is the URO or any other Chinese made product. Aesthetically, they look sufficient, until it is installed.

What if you just put that silicone inside of your broken mounts? It should stiffen them up a bit...right?
@alloutofdonuts3998
4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think silicone would be as stiff plus it has to dry for a few days before adding more(like 1/4” bead at a time) unlike urethane. That would take a while. I’ve heard the mounts also collapse a bit. If that’s the case you’d be better off just getting the cheapy mounts and putting the urethane in em.

Hey I've used 3m Windo-Weld on rear diffential brand newbushings on my 2008 335i and it UTTERLY FAILED!!! 3m couldn't hold and broke out badly. I let them dry for 5 days in AZ 110+ heat but didn't work. Filled them in all at once. Just wondering what gives??? Somebody chime in why 3m didn't work out? I also bought Uro motor mounts for this exact job but my confidence is slashed about the 3m.
@alloutofdonuts3998
4 жыл бұрын
What do you mean ‘broke out’? Did just the 3m urethane come out or did it rip the rubber part of the bushing out? Things that come to mind, brand new bushings have mold release residue on them. Cleaning that may help. Another thought, if the urethane isn’t supported or ‘captivated’ on both sides it will not stay in. In this vid it’s filling a cavity. As opposed to just a cavity open on 2 sides. A bushing that is made specifically for an application is always supported somehow.
@dduktube

@@alloutofdonuts3998 Broke out i mean 3m didn't hold while new bushing held fine. I filled in the gaps and filled them all around. The new bushing is liquid filled pouches i believe and it flexed like it should. But 3m got PUNCHED THRU and broke the formation, pieces dangling. I was very disappointed 😞 It might ok for engine mounts but differential RWD might not be good. I push about 400hp. But from looks of things I doubt it can handle 300hp stock. Unless it's not genuine 3m but I bought it from Amazon 3rd party seller in Las Vegas. It got broken on the same day I test drove. You see? I did buy new engine mounts and filled those in from left over 3m...almost 1 momth of drying now. Did you use 3m on differential of your car? What kind of car.

@@VehicularDIY - How is it possible to have lifetime alignment on a BMW? Unless you use a nonBMW service provider like Firestone...who do not have the ability to align as per BMW best practices, and also cannot align to M3 specification if you have m3 suspension upgrades. Even on non M3 specific alignment, BMW certified shops use weights to weigh down the car under driving conditions and then they use BMW specific alignment prongs to attach to the little holes on their wheels.
