Great content as usual. Thank you. I totally agree on marketing hype as far as cables are concerned. This is equally true for audio where manufacturers try to sell you cables for $100+/ft. Yes, get a great quality cable and spend some money on it, but c'mon....One thing that I have found to be a factor in cable selection goes along the lines of what you mentioned re.: stiffness. I have found that rather than using coiled cables, which add significant weight/ft, I prefer thin and ultraflexible cables. This is especially true when using my gimble. These cables have very low mass and are easy to tame. I am not affiliated with Monoprice, but they have a great "UltraFlex" option, which is superthin and still supports 4K@60Hz HDR 18Gbps YCbCr 4:4:4, yadayada....Just my 2c

Hey Gerald, a new fan from Canada here! Looking for cable recommendations to connect a GH5 to a MixPre6 II. 1) HDMI to micro HDMI. (To send timecode and start/stop signals from the GH5 to the MixPre.) 2) 3.5mm to 3.5mm. (To send audio from the MixPre to the GH5.) 3) HMDI splitter. (To split the HDMI out from the GH5 to the MixPre AND to an external monitor.) If you or one of your savvy viewers has some recommendations for good quality cables that can be found on Amazon, I'd be grateful. Thanks and keep up the great work!

The thicker cables must be to manage voltage drop and enhance shielding. It would be useful to see if there is a problem if you go through multiple adapters. For example, stiff cables could cover the main distance across the floor or zip-tied to your boom, but then a F-F adapter could let you switch to one of your half-meter thin flexy cables as you get close to the camera and mounting hardware.
@azharariff9997

If you're looking for thin 4k HDMI cables, search for "fibre optic HDMI cables" or "HDMI 2.0 fibre optic cables", they're thinner and have more flex and can run up to 200m. I've seen a 300m fibre optic HDMI cable in Ali Express. Personally, I've bought a 100m fibre optic HDMI cable from Ali Express for my Multi-cam live feed outfit. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Gerald, great video, but at least here let me put in some considerations. I mean this is the only field where I feel skilled enough to write a comment about... 1) For cable performance, just refer to the frequency they are able to manage at a certain distance. All the cables you mentioned are consumer cables. If you choose pro-cables the price rises a lot, but the longer the cable, the less performance you will have (no matter the brand!)... it's somehow physics...) 2) Try to consider (if your goal is to go far away with thin cables) the fiber-HDMI cables. They are not very for on-the-fly usage, cause they are a little more fragile, but they are great for static installation. And you can get a fantastic result with non that much thickness. 3) Second solution, if you really wanna go further... Consider SDI conversion or LAN conversion (TX-RX). Higher costs, but you can run 50/100/200m... This is my opinion, with humility!
