Not bad for what it is but nowhere near a U87. I honestly wouldn’t use it for a anything except for comparing it to other “budget clone” mics. The Warm 87 is nearly identical to the U87, although I prefer the U87 over it. But it’s about understanding recording techniques and how to use your gear. Set up a studio last Friday, had great gear but it was all wrong. After I straightened out the spaghetti and got rid of not needed junk, the place looks and sound better. He literally had 3 interfaces connected to the computer. He did agree to replace the Scarlet mic with the AKG 214, based on his needs. And now he is just using the Apollo One for his interface. Cheap is rarely good. Depends on what level you’re trying to get to.

I took my Temu clone U 87, that I received yesterday and recorded a practice ACX audiobook audition. I took the raw recording, done through a Behringer UMC22 audio interface and then submitted the raw, unedited recording, and it passed the ACX standards check. I was home alone, sitting in the front room of my house closest to the street. I have never had an ACX check get approved the first time. The only variable was the mic. The sound floor is quite low, and I like the bass in my voice during the recordings. My simple, but real experience with a U87 clone microphone.

Yeah...you can hear a difference in it ....the imitation has more of a high and mid-range boost ...whereas the original is warmer and more leveled out.....yet....it sounded like they were kind of getting close (could be because of youtube like you said....I do think they might have reversed engineered it to come up with something close..... however.....we never know what is really used on songs until revealed by the users....and we know that it's the user's skillset that determines the outcome.....Which is that old axiom...It's not the tools but the user and/or how you use it. Major hits were created in small home studios but sounded like they were in a high end studio. We can only see how many bite on this and actually use it. There you go @BoloDaProducer ......do a song demo video using both mics and post a playback. 😁😁😁😁

There is a powerful message to this from a (global perspective) Japan or China or wherever this mic came from is letting the world know these products are being used in general and hyped up in weight and other added internal trinkets to place (Huge Price Selling Point) A $3 mic going up against a $3K mic and sound somewhat comparable becomes (snake Oil). We as consumers need to take a closer look at the products we use; the Temu platform carries a powerful message of what the world is leading to in terms of products, coming in over big names like Nike and Adidas, to name a few after all these companies buy from companies like Temu in the first place!

A lot of U87 clones are manufactured in China too, and it's not unusual to find them sold without the Western branding. Alctron does a great cheap 1073 style preamp that's apparently the basis for a couple Western "boutique" clones, and they made the original UA-710 switchable tube/transistor pre and sell their own version that seems to be slightly upgraded though cheaper to buy. The fake SM7B I have is so close in sound and look I seriously wonder if it's from the Chinese Shure factory (if there is one). You're absolutely right that with a little research into the Chinese manufacturers you can get a killer setup without breaking the bank!

Without knowing what was being used, most people would not be able to identify the differences let alone name the mic/s used. If you told people one was the real deal and the other might not be, few would be able to identify either. There are audible differences and with some very minor EQ, the Temu would be usable on some sources. It may not handle higher SPL and sound as good as does at lower level sources but again, its three bucks. depending on the application, the audible differences may not even come into play.

It has a very thin and brittle sound, but once you added compression it seemed to attack those bright frequencies and leveled it out a bit.

It definitely plays a role in performance based on vocal tone

the $3 mic sounds very usable! 🎤

it wasn't too bad but it was definitely thinner on the low end.

I'd pay $3 for the cable! Seriously though, the mic doesn't sound that bad. Throw it up against an AT2020 like the one Billie Eilish sang Ocean Eyes on and see how it compares?

I agree with most comments that $3 mic stood its ground and i might just get 1 for the mic closet.

TBH I’d use it because with some EQ and COMP here and there it can sound extremely decent. Sure I’d have to make some harsh sweeps but it didn’t sound completely off. Imo🤦🏽♂️

I mean it would be a great mic to start a podcast or do something that you’re not needing the absolute best audio for but I thought it sounded amazing for a sub 4 dollar mic. Not sure what you would find in that price range to match its sound quality.
