I have a 2012 V-Wagon very similar to this - Crystal Red Tintcoat, Recaros, sunroof delete (aka 'slictktop'), stock except for an Airaid intake. Best car I've ever owned. A blast to drive and extremely reliable. Thought about selling due to crazy market right now, but I just couldn't part with it. FYI - those paddle shifters are aftermarket, not stock, so can't blame GM on that thing falling off 😉, also that supercharger snout is not stock either. Ventilated seats were only available with Recaros. Not just fast in a straight line, these cars handle curves way better than they should with their weight - mag ride suspension is magic.

My father had one in sedan form, easily one of the coolest cars I've ever experienced. I likened it to the Hulk in a tuxedo. You could tell through the exhaust that it had some incredible muscle, but it was so polite and subdued about it. Really, my only two complaints about the car were the Recaro seats being uncomfortable, and the rear seat had horrible headroom. Otherwise, the car really is legendary. I personally love the screen setup. It was functional, but very classy, and very unique. I still remember the test drive: my dad got on it and I said "that's pretty strong, what is that, 90?" "Believe it or not, that's 120." I'd experienced plenty of seriously-fast cars at that point, but none that were designed to hide it. I'll never forget that. Anyways, he drove it to around 110k flawless miles before trading it on a Trackhawk, which has been another home run (currently around 80k miles). I think those two cars are ones that you look back on and smile feeling immensely satisfied that you owned them and actually drove them.

I was going to buy a CTS-V2 (non-Wagon, the wagons were impossible to find and double the price if I could), but after driving them I decided that a Chevy SS with an LSA blower was a better choice. The construction quality of the Cadillac was just so mediocre and the Chevy SS feels much, much better. It's a shame they never offered a wagon-version of the Holden Commodore in the US As far as that car goes, polish and coat that right headlight and it'll be hard to notice it was in an accident
@Baltzy24
2 жыл бұрын
As someone that has both, you can't be anymore wrong. I absolutely love the Chevy SS, and I have owned four of them and have detailed about 60 of them. My V wagon is 25k miles, but 2011, and the build quality is night and day compared to the SS sedan. I wish so much that GM produced anything show worthy. The fit and finish of both cars is absolutely trash compared to its European counterparts. However, the interior of the V is soooooo much nicer than the SS, from a quality standpoint. The exterior is the same way, and even removing bumpers and body panels is better and easier on the V. With the SS, the way the clips are on every panel, it tends to warp the panel with the pressure needed to remove the clips. I use the SS as a mobile detailing vehicle, and it gets a ton of attention at the occasional car show, because it's jungle green, but in my opinion it's not show worthy
@MartinJones123

The 2 door, sedan and wagon V's all ride on the same chassis only thing different are the body's. If you drive them at the speed limit they will get appx. 17 mpg around town, 22 mpg on the highway, If you hammer them, mpg will drop to 16 mpg. Push the Shock icon on the dash and it will go into Sport mode and the ride will get firmer. Push the traction control button twice and traction control will deactivate. Your car has a smaller pulley on the supercharger. There was a recall on the superchargers due to the shaft connector rattling, the replacement has a solid connector. They replaced the entire supercharger, free. My car has appx. 75,000 miles, only the shocks and the supercharger have been the only issues. You are right, a very good car for every day use, a 4 door Corvette. Requires Premium fuel. 3.9 0-60, the next gen V's are 668 hp, 0-60, 3.8. This is my absolute dream car and one that I will own before I die. I technically owned one for about 2 hours...I bought it from a dealer in SoCal and started to drive it home to the Bay Area. We hit traffic going through East LA and the car randomly started shifting weirdly, almost like someone learning to drive stick for the first time. Long story short after pulling off in "da hood" and getting a shop with a scanner to check the code, the torque converter had failed and we had to have it flatbed towed back the dealer. It was quite the ordeal ending with the purchase being annulled and the tow truck driver giving me and my friend a ride to LAX so we could fly back home. Sir Hoovie, there are two Blackwings...the twin turbo V6 AND the supercharged V8 with 668 HP! The Blackwings are superior in everyway to the CTS-V Gen 2 Wagon. Although the wagon is way too cool. The TT V6 is faster than the Gen 2 CTS-V' and driving a Blackwing will change your mind about how special these cars are. Just saying:)
@eloritetitus2376

I agree the blackwing is one of the dopest cars I've ever driven and I've driven some dope exotics and muscle cars but this car drives amazing and I swear this car is going to blow up soon due to how amazing both are the ct4 v and ct5v blackwing.

Agreed. Haven't driven a BW, but own an ATSV and I like it even more than the M4 it replaced. No lift shift with the 6mt is the greatest thing ever! The only thing I would replace it with is a CT5 BW, once they start showing up CPO.

I also have a 2012 CTS-V Wagon with about 70K miles on it. The only real problem I've had with it is the front suspension and steering, ALL of which, rack included, was replaced at 65K miles. There was also a bearing recall on the supercharger a few years ago. I put Corsa cat-back mufflers on it; expensive but very satisfying sound. I have a manual transmission and wouldn't have anything else. It's my retirement car and I am thoroughly enjoying it (although that Lyriq doesn't look too bad.....)

Paddle shifters falling off is a good thing. The car is rejecting that goofy boy-racer gimmick. I remember when those ridiculous things first came out on the Pontiac Grand prix many long years ago. Also remember the goofy commercial highlighting them. Of all the silly car trends to not die off after one model year on one vehicle... Also, no one is buying EVs now (end of 2022). Why? Good luck finding one on any Dealer's lots for anything _remotely_ approaching a decent monthly payment. Currently all the incentives in America have dried up! Nearly $1K in monthly payments!? No thank you! Currently EVs have reverted back to being rich men's toys.

The Catera was Cadillac's derived model of the Opel Omega B. Holden took cues from for the VT Commodore which then semi-translated into the VX, Monaro etc. All though the Commodore was more derived not just a re-badge like the Cadillac was which is probably why it was so bad- ironically after 1998 a year after Holden's derived car was on sale, they were instead importing the re-badged Holdens for Opel. So no it wasn't an Australian shit box, it was a European shit box that the Aussies happened to improve as per any other model the Commodore had derived from Opel for Commodore models previously. Usually turfing their mechanicals or improving them. The very sporty SS VT Commodore would like a word with you too.

I believe this is my old car. kzitem.infouz1cmOkAXDA?feature=share If so, it is a Ported and Polished Supercharger. Tuned by Hawks Motorsports in South Carolina. 550whp. I had them tune the car for daily driving. 12.4 in the Quarter Mile was the best it could do. The paddle shifters were crap when I got her, always fell off. So i bought after market paddles, they also Sucked. Does the back of the drivers seat still come off willy nilly? I sold the car years back and have regretted it ever since. Glad to see she is still alive and well.

Wow, he bought this model that I drove for a few years when it was new. It never needed new tires because it broke down about 8 times in 2 years and sat in the shop for long periods. However, it still had a better track record then my new ATS that broke down 16 times in one year. Oh, and that great Escalade was the winner in being the biggest piece of junk. It broke down or was recalled 52 times in 3 years. So good luck on buying GM products. At least it's not a Chrysler!

Typical Cadillac, my Mom used to buy a new one every year, i went thru many tubes of GE silicone to re-glue all the trim parts that always fell off, the fake plastic wood panels i had to re-glue so often, looked like they put about 50 cents worth of glue to hold them on, and still they kept buying them! even had to re-glue the rubber bumper tips, i don't even remember all the parts that came off, what junk!
