One interesting thing I noticed during the teardown was that they are using hall effect sensors for the triggers which is something that I never thought about. I think that Sony's adaptive triggers are probably much cooler tech but it did get me thinking that it would be cool if Nintendo finally went back to having analog triggers (or at least triggers that simulate that experience) simply to have a more nuanced experience when playing racing games or FPS games. While I'm not really a big fan of the latter, I do quite enjoy the former and I feel like Nintendo themselves could do some cool game design things with them aside from how it would also benefit third parties in bringing over ports with a similar feel to the other consoles that DO have analog triggers.

I just received my SNES version this last friday and i love it. And now that i have it in hand i dont have the same gripes that i see in alot of these reviews. The right joystick isnt too far down for me, the way the switch tablet is held in place feels secure (i know its not gonna fall out, and i dont have to press super hard on the screen to get it out if i want to dock it), and the rumble isnt as bad as alot of people make it out to be. Yeah its not HD rumble, but there are so many controller replacements out there for the switch that dont have rumble at all, or only have it on one side, that it makes me happy that they have a decent rumble feel on both sides. I also found that by turning down the intensity, it quiets the rumble sound enough for it not to be an annoyance. At least for me. Since i bought a limited edition version, it came with a charging cable, protective case (which is actually nice quality) and a micro fiber cloth to clean the screen. I only got my switch OLED just over a year ago, so i came to it late in its life cycle as is, so the timing of the nitro decks release also doesnt bother me much as i was able to get a limited edition version without having to go thru the after market process because i came in so late. Overall im relatively impressed by the nitro deck, and very happy with my purchase.

The amount of travel the sticks feels far to massive even compared to the pro controller and while I dont expect hd rumble, it really needs better motors or motor placement. Once again, this is yet another accessory that I will pass up simply because of the rumble situation. The right stick placement issue isn't dependent on hand size, it is dependent on your ability to hold it with your thumb at a proper angle. The Nitro Deck looks pretty neat, with it's new hall effect thumbsticks, and the build quality looks decent. It's got that Steam Deck vibe. But, that right thumbstick does look like a pain in the butt. Still, I'm sure it will be great for a lot of people. Although, I would not recommend it. The thing you need to understand, is that you'll never have that controller vibe, that in my opinion, is essential to playing any game. My #1 most highly recommended accessory you can buy for the Switch, is without question, the Fixture S2. The Fixture S2 is a clip-on, that attaches onto your Switch Pro Controller only, and then you slide the Switch onto the adjustable arm rails. It kinda looks like a typical phone controller clip-on, but this is no $10 cheapy phone clip-on that typically feel terrible. What makes the Fixture S2 feel so good, compared to many other controller clip-ons, is it's angular arm design position. The arm keeps the display hovered nicely over the front of the your controller, which creates this center of gravity and balance, that just feels perfect to hold. The Fixture S2 is an absolute Masterpiece. It's a must buy accessory for any Switch owner. Look, I can't stress this enough... No matter how hard you look for a great new accessory for your Switch, there is nothing that feels better than holding an actual controller. If you don't like the Fixture S2, then return it. But, I'll bet my bottom dollar that you'll keep it. I'm sure Spawn Wave has already reviewed it. If not, then it's time to. Anyways, Great Review Spawn Wave! Take Care Ya'll! Cheers! 🍻

I've bought a Satisfye Grip a couple years back and haven't looked back. That being said, I thought about getting this but the fact everyone mention the right thumbstick being uncomfortable/bad makes it a non-starter

Just to let you know on their website they have the GameCube Edition, the Mint Edition, Super Nintendo Edition, then multiple colors transparent, but they don't ship until December for those also the Super Nintendo Edition, the GameCube Edition, the Mint Edition and the transparent ones come with the case

I wonder if the triggers were made that way to future-proof the controller. If Nintendo releases a Pro Controller 2 with analog triggers, the Nitro Deck should only need a firmware update to act like one.

No rumble versus having no stick drift….I’ll take that trade off. Now onto the price of this item.

Hopefully Nintendo designs their new system in a way where something like this wouldn’t even be needed. Design proper joycons with a decent size for long gaming sessions and use halo effect sticks. One can dream.

I hate the idea of this not having offset sticks. Like, who actually want the vertical symmetrical buttons????

I was considering getting this til I heard about how you have to apply pressure to your Switch screen to take it out. That sounds to me like you could potentially damage the screen over time. I’ll pass on this. Ty as always for the honest review covering the good and the bad about it. Love your honesty !

Yep i just modded. My switch instead puti Gulikit hal sensor sticks in it myself and put a zelda themed case on it with bumps on the joycon pieces to make it more comfortable yep it looks way cooler i thought about a nitro deck but definitely thought better of it tbh im happy with the modder joycons

I picked up a Zengrip Pro for $20. Best accessory for the Switch imo. The Nitro Deck is NOT worth $80-$100.

Great product, by the look of it, but with the Switch 2 heavily rumoured for release later this year, it’s just too late for me to consider buying anymore regular Switch accessories.

As one of the three people on Earth that actually don't mind the switch joy cons, the appeal of the switch to me is being smaller and portable, and is the reason why I'd rather play it than my steam deck, say.

As someone without a Steam Deck and also is a Persona nut, I ordered the P3 and P4 versions both from LimitedRun. I’ve never bought a replacement for Joycons because I genuinely like them. Unless you count the NES and SNES controllers, and then the Smash GC controller, all of which being products Nintendo offers themselves and meant for specific games rather than out-right replacements. I figured that it would be a nice change of pace for play around the house (and also Persona is Persona)
