After doing tons of research looking for a little car that could carry decent size loads and still be reliable and affordable, I recently purchased a 2004 Xb with only 93K miles on it. The paint has some scratches but otherwise, the car looks new inside and out. I've had it for 2 months now and love it. It has a bit of a cult following kinda like a Volkswagen and I get fellow owners stopping to chat about the car all the time. We don't have much money but we've already decided we want to keep and personalize this car, bit by bit for as long as we can. In 2005 I bought a brand new scion I adored that xar I sold it a year ago it was a roomy car especially for tall people. I carried so much in the back when moving because of the height. It zipped around it was a manual shift. I got just a few miles shy of 300,00 miles I replaced a muffler spark plugs tires regular oil changes and tune ups. It got over 30 mpg. I replaced the original battery in 2016. That was a Panasonic battery. That little car engine is a tank. I am glad you rescued it. I did hug it when I traded it in even cried. I am getting ready to stop working and felt I needed a new car before it would give me problems. Be good to that scion

I wish I had held out for more $. Guy bought it from me $1,700, detailed it and scraped my stickers off the back window, put in a new engine mount and turned around and sold it for like $3,200. It ran decently but had NO power. I always felt unsafe if I had to get out of the way of someone speeding towards me as I pulled out of my neighborhood or was trying to merge onto the interstate.

I just bought my 2006 xB release series 4.0. It’s the car I didn’t know I wanted. bB is the Japanese version of this same car, shares lots of parts with the Toyota echo of the same era, lots of things to customize if you want and that squeal sounds like the main serpentine belt tension. Adjust the alternator. Also with the 1.3 L 4 cylinder, pressing the pedal doesn’t make it toast faster. Excited to see you restock this!

I bought a hail damaged 2010 xB. It’s more like a normal toaster with the 2.4 that’s in the Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Matrix, Vibe, etc. It had good power , got decent gas mileage, and carried a ton of crap. The shifter was kind of weird and it needed another gear, since the engine revved too high at highway speeds, thus lowering gas mileage a little. Still a great car. Toyota marketed them for the younger generation but I see mostly older people driving them. I guess they’re cheap and easy to get in and out of. My sister has it now and she hates it. Go figure.

@@dillonh321 its unfortunate. I also liked the Scion TC also. They both looked so good.

I had one just like it, air ride suspension and nasty triple 15" subwoofer wall. If your power steering doesn't work, it probably ate the belt off. When I dropped mine, it would rub the power steering belt on the sway bar until it roasted off.
