Yep, I'm looking forward to Subnautica 2.0. I hope that we go deeper. I imagine that the depths we went to in Subnautica, were still quite shallow compared to what's really down there in the ocean. And - the "highly volcanic activity" in the crater is a perfect explanation, why we see so much lava not so deep down. I like to think that if we compare the crater to the rest of the ocean, really the whole crater is the "safe shallows". It's all cute compared to everything out there.

It would be great to have an update for the upcoming game in a few years, where instead of instantly teleporting back, it plays a soul screeching sound and an animation where you don't even see what's coming, you just instantly die in less than a second. Imagine that: R! (incredibly short but terrifying noise) *perspective tilts mad* *flash of red* *crushing noise* *black screen* in less than a second. I already see the "What was that??!!" responses to it. Just to feed the terror of what might be out there, I really like the theories that out there is only reserved for the true predators. I mean while the predators we see in the crater are nice, I like to think that they all look "cute" compared to what's out there. You'd be happy to see a ghosty or reaper or that cute little crabsquiddy the same way, you were happy to see a stalker later in the game.

Really interesting, building a base at the very end was a good idea - kinda hoped the game would freak out a bit more though, guess the 2.0 build holds together pretty well. The run-through at the end of the video was appreciated as well. Just in case you want to mess around in the void some more - was experimenting with Ghost Leviathans and they can jump up to six base units in height above the water surface. You can build floating foundations at that height to jump around and try to lure them into stuff but sometimes they lunge mid-air so it's a dangerous sport. It looks cool though, their physics weren't really designed for it.

This is super interesting, I remember before the update I decided to seaglide out to the teleport point but actually had different results. After the 1000 or whatever it is where the void ends, i was just in neutral seas where i just kept going all the way out to 8192. But I never got teleported back, in fact I could keep going past the 'limit', where the only change was that my movement became ridiculously slow. I had the coordinates up the whole time and I was just moving at an absolute snails pace, but never got teleported back. I was able to go a good chunk of distance over what should be the end, just progress was pain lol. I turned around and was super slow until back within the limit where i was able to just move normally. It was a while back so I don't remember what it listed for the biome past the void, but once it changed to that it never changed again that i noticed. Very strange stuff. I think i went off the west side of the world but i dont remember haha Escaping game limits is always cool. Especially if you start getting floating point rounding errors lol

When you go beyond 8192 depth (same is true if you fly vertically up beyond 8192, or 8192 m towards East, West, North, or South in a straight line from the center of the map), you get teleported back to coordinate 0,0,0 on the map, which is basically in the shallows. The reason is simple: Imagine the entire map is a huge cube with six faces, and each face (a face is basically a square) is of length 16384 and width 16384 (16384 is twice 8192). 0,0,0 is the coordinate that represents the exact center of the cube, and this is where you always get teleported back to. This is basically engine limitation I suppose, so the game resorts to teleporting you back rather than crashing! Take for example the square which represents the water surface (basically eliminating the z axis), so when you stand at point 0,0 (exact center), moving East, West, North, or South, the distance is exactly 8192 as stated above, but if you want to move towards the North East, North West, South East, or South West, you exceed 11585 (refer to the formula for calculating hypotenuse), and the distance keeps hovering between 8192 and 11585 based on the angle (from 0 to 360) of the straight line you choose to take from the center. Lucky for you, the game only enables structures to be constructed at 90-degree angle, so you always expand vertically, or towards East, West, North, or South, and no other angles could be constructed, unless it is a hatch from a Multipurpose room!

You can build a base spaning from the bottom corner of the map to the other side of the map (diagonally) and also on the top of the map. The result is a 27km long/high base
