Being a trumpet player in Middle School band made me jealous of the woodwinds. But damn, the oboe ain’t easy, huge props to them.

As a trombone player, I realized that brass kicks a$$ because we ARE the instrument. No reeds or dumb sh*t, that’s why we can growl and get dirty and not sound like a p*ssy flute or a piece of wood flopping around

I play the oboe, I’ve been playing for about three years and done many concerts it’s a very hard but beautiful instrument!

First year playing it, and I don’t understand how people play for an hour straight of songs. 10 minutes in and my upper lip starts shaking and I can’t hold my mouth normal without it opening up. Is it just an over time resistance thing or am I just trying too hard?

Reminds me of one time in band when me and my friend shoved a pen up our clarinet which shows you should never go fast because it can get stuck

As an oboist, that was a very good first try (I think it was a first try). Most new people struggle to make any sound at all when they first start because the reed is so weird.
