In a world where the pocofone exists, oneplus looks like a dinosaur. And let us not forget their constant quality problems. Anyone In support of removing the 3.5 mm jack has never given me a valid point as to why. Phones are getting larger and larger in dimensions a good designer would be able to design around a small 3.5mm jack and it's components giving us superior sound audio and more options. When I'm forced to use my Jaybirds or beats wireless buds it's amazing how depending which pocket my phone is in the audio can drop and sounds 1/10 as good as wired. Maybe people have nice wireless headsets at home, but then why listen to audio through phone and not an amp or system? Keeping the 3.5mm is Freedom to the consumer to use as they wish. Removing the 3.5 is a huge downgrade with not one plus to the consumer.
@P.M_M
5 жыл бұрын
I agree on the "no actual reason to remove the jack" argument but.... on the point about cutting out audio depending on which pocket i had my phone in i can say i had happen to me also. I was using 1st Gen Parrot Zik wireless headphones, which were perfectly fine back when new (the amount of wired headphones i went through that had one ear fail or wires failing from excessive "bending" was daft, so i needed wireless) they were fine, but by the time i got my Pixel XL the Zik 3.0's were well and truly released in full swing and i experienced the cutting out with my pixel in the pocket furthest from the receiver in the ear. Used some cheap £30 over-ear headphones (which i fucking loved) but alas my curse with wired ones came back and after a year of joyful use, the left cup stopped working due to either a pulled wire or a connection worn... Great. Used my Google-fu for wireless earphones and came to rest on the Jabra Elite 65t's. Wonderful wireless kit and considered best in it's class for now and never have failed on connection with the pixel (now using note 9, nothing but perfection). All this is to say: buy decent well made wireless earphones (buds like mine or over-ear ones) that arent waffle like the Beats by Dre (sorry but unless your buying the top of the range studio ones for actual studio-esque things, the rest of the beats line are shit and even then there are WAY better studio earphones for your needs). The jaybirds you have are "alright" (w/e model) but you gotta upgrade to something better like i did which is sadly a requirement for going wireless. Maybe the fact i willing made the switch to wireless is coming off as a bit bias but if you search and spend decent money on wireless earphones the same way you'd spend on wired ones, you won't have such a bad time. Granted you can argue "but charge times means no music listening" but in all honestly where are you going that you are listening to 5+ hrs of solid music and wont have (at least for my buds) times when you can pop them into the small case that charges them. They have a 5hr battery life, case can recharge them twice and does a quick charge in 15mins for 1.5hrs battery. Unless you are an audiophile, make the upgrade dude. Sure no jack is a poor way to go, but you're missing out on good alternatives.

@@P.M_M I work for myself and my daily routine does permit 5+ hours of listening a day. I love podcasts and music so switch during the day often if I get tired out of either. Depending on my activity for example if landscaping wired buds fit effortlessly under protective ear muffs while the bluetooth headsets are larger and don't fit. For my wired buds I have sennheisers IE-80's and some lower end models which sound amazing. I purchased the jaybirds and beats as bluetooth sets that i could use everyday and beat on and not cry when they break. I'm just shocked at there performance. Sound quality is abysmal to wired.. sure the Bluetooth are convenient and at times I love no wire getting caught up on something but i'm shocked that with minimal distance they can drop signal so easily just seems like the technology isn't there yet. At home I'm set with a modest tube amp and an awesome planer headphones so bluetooth wouldn't interest me for home use just while working. Everybody has different uses and needs and removing the 3.5mm only limits those uses. Bluetooth in many situations doesn't work for me. Just sad a 'pre 2018' phone was more user friendly, sounded better, and was dongle free. Thanks for the suggestions. I usually wear out the jaybirds and beats in a year so my next bluetooth set i'll look into your suggestions but as for the removal of 3.5 mm jack I'm still waiting for somebody to give me a sound reason why it benefits the user.
@snipexd4964
5 жыл бұрын
@@dparag14 Well I'm happy for your 2 uses that you were happy with. I can tell you many where bluetooth is not justified. I have a Harley and when I ride listen to buds. Bluetooth sets don't fit under helmet.. wired does. When i'm working for a living and either by large machines or equipment Bluetooth don't usually fit under anymore protective measures.. wired do.. I charge a lot on the go which wouldn't allow me to use dongle when charging. Bluetooth sound quality is sub-par to wired.. When leaving the 3.5 mm jack doesn't affect phone design at all at the moment, doesn't make it cheaper, it doesn't seem you have any points validating the justification for removal.

Here's your reason: the manufacturer will make more money. That's every manufacturers priority. Make money. They save on installing the part, buying the part, labour, one less part to break, one less part to ship in to factory, dongles (with short life spans, likely to lose them) to sell at 1000% mark up, wireless headphones(also battery limited lifespan, likely to lose) to sell at 10000% mark up, and other reasons but you should get the picture

Newsflash, most of the time the ppl who say that are the same ones who buy phones as if they're buying a car. Buy the most notable and we'll known brand to show off and fuck everything else. That's why when you ask them why they bought the new iPhone, their answer most of the time is "cause it's the new iPhone" or "I want to be one of the first buyers". Now I'm not saying they shouldn't go out and do this, they have all the rights in the world to go out and do this/spend their money as how they see fit. But when someone gives a reasonable criticism about the phone and it's a big enough issue to split everyone on mainly two sides (either they're okay with the removal or you're not okay, some exist in between like me but that's a minority), and they only bought the phone for it's brand. Then sit down and stay quiet, have pride in your purchase if you bought it for the brand. But don't be a scumbag and say that the very reasonable and we'll documented issues that people are having as "overblown" or "Android fanboys" when very clearly they don't even understand how the iPhone is better than Android in other ways/circumstances. They could have said that iPhones are better for content creators or those who enjoy a stable and secure OS, but no. They bought it for the brand (which isn't wrong per se) yet they still think they can tell others not to complain for very reasonable complaints.

I'm not a hater, and it looks like OnePlus is really trying... the moment I found a fingerprint sensor in the middle of the back side on my nexus 6p i fell in love. i find that an extremely ergonomic placement. I understand why some may want a front fingerprint sensor (so you don't have to pick it up off the table to use it, and i could see that being a big thing if you've got a qi charging dock like me), but I really don't understand why all the flagship phone manufacturers want to absolutely murder dead the top phone bezel... I really never had much of a problem having a little bezel at the top and bottom of my phone in order to accommodate very important things like the front facing camera, the ambient light sensor, color temp sensor, and most importantly to me, the top and bottom speakers for stereo front firing speakers (i loved that in the nexus 6 and 6p and others, and wish that more manufacturers would do that going forward but i can't find ONE in this generation that does and i'm sad about it), what's more, I'm not a fan AT ALL of the way that the last generation of android phones curved all the corners on the display removing active pixels... I understand this is an aesthetic feature, but really this makes small things in the extreme corners incredibly difficult to view and interact with needlessly... For example if i were using my phone for remote desktop I sometimes have difficulty hitting the close window button on maximized windows when they are zoomed out... i have but a few pixels i can touch and most of them are gone from the corners now. this bugs me to no end and I don't see a reason for it... even if they wanted to do this, I would suggest doing it in software and allowing us users who don't like to to undo it in the settings... as I understand it, they just put a matte overlay on the display and hid the pixels from view... it's a small thing to rage about it, but I can't find a phone this generation that doesn't have the stupid rounded corners. - don't get me wrong, I'm all about options, different people are going to to have different preferences about stuff, and I'm really glad that there are a bunch of choices from a bunch of manufacturers to choose from, but they are all making the SAME STUPID CHANGES! (notch, lack of headphone jack, rounded display corners, lack of front stereo speakers)... honestly if they were to take the nexus 6p's shell design and display, remove the logic board, and replace it with something that had a snapdragon 845, a bit more ram, qi charging capabilities, and the camera from the pixel 2 xl, maybe making it more waterproof somehow, I would buy it in an instant!

Nowadays we use cloud services and streaming services and everybody is okay with that, its even better than before. OnePlus says there is No space for a headphone jack!!!?? What's wrong if they just say they've decided to copy Apple.. Vivo Nex S has alomst the same body size as OnePlus 6T, a 6.5" screen on Vivo and a 6.4'' on the 6T. Yet Vivo also has the under the display optical fingerprint reader, a 4000mah (FOUR THOUSAND) Battery, A Motorized POP-UP front facing camera(if you need to see how this Motorized POP-UP camera system takes space go see JerryRigEverything teardown of the Vivo) and Still the Vivo Nex S has the Headphone jack... These manufactures have just found a way to make people pay more(airpods, pixel buds, bullets) in the name of the future/technology. Well this is not a goodbye to the headphone jack, Its a goodbye to Quality Audio that could be improved to come close to Hi-Fi studio quality audio on-the-go as LG phones do provide.. a least there is a last man standing(LG) It's business strategy not engineering issue... Some of you know Strange Parts, the guy who put back the headphone jack on iPhone 7. It's clear that engineering isn't a thing here.. And after all the 3.5mm jack its just a standard audio interface as some compare it with death of PCI, floppy disk and other old tech. It has nothing fancy like MBps throughput or whatsoever. So whats dying isn't the headphone jack, its good quality audio and reliability of using these phones.. Thats what's dying.

I switched to android an i used a couple of some Samsungs...Then i bought the LG V20 and here is when things got interesting. I personally do own a pair of Bluetooth in ear headsets, B&O earphones that came with the v20 and also the audio technica M50x. During my casul listening back n forth across my headsets i can clearly hear a difference. May be if i had the latest Sony Bluetooth headphones i couldn't find a difference.. But at their price i find it pointless to buy them over the beyerdynamic dt 770 for example sice the v20 has this thing where you can find a way to use the HiFi DAC to its full potential.. So this compared to Sony Bluetooth the difference will be night and day i know for sure.. Everyone has their opinion on this Headphone jack saga but the truth is.. Real quality audio is kinder dying.. I don't know... May be I'm wrong but as far as i know how audio works, i think its a problem. All I'm waiting is to see how headphone manufacturers will react.

Lol everyone is complaining about the headphone Jack, wireless Bluetooth technology is advancing to the point where you can't distinguish between a set of good wired earphones and wireless ones. Audio delay is the most upsetting downside for me, but seriously, this phone is 550 dollars, and you get top end specs and >85% screen, for the sacrifice of having to carry around an adapter. Grow up. Edit: oh yeah, forgot to mention that it needs room for not only the in screen sensor but the 400Mah larger battery which, paired with OxygenOS, gets around 7 hours of batterylife Checkmate
