There is a reference to 73 yards; Harriet says that the cctv camera was "positioned in a storage yard 66m away. 73 yards = 66.7512 meters. If this tape were not from a camera, but from someones memory, due to the distance, no matter the unit tech, you still wouldn't be able to make out the hooded figure's face. Also, when ruby is getting the cctv footage, there is a small snippet of the radio, which has a distorted screen, and has a similar voice effect to that of Harriet when she is listing the names of the gods. It also says on the screen "ce not available", which happens when the radio is surrounded by things, usually on a large scale, like hills, but it could be Sutekh, as it is referencing the same storm that Mrs Flood saw coming. Another point, Mrs FLOOD, aware of a supernatural STORM, as the god of DEATH approaches. Furthermore, when Mrs Flood goes to Ruby's house, she says, "It's nice for me to get out. I'm always hiding myself away!" One last point, Carla refers to Mrs Flood as Mrs F, and the gods like their anagrams and initials and such. The actual last point is: What is the tech the Susan Triad was going to give out to the whole world for free? She also says when she is breaking down, that "all my ideas come to me in dreams." Anyway, I liked this one.

when they detect the TARDIS in the footage, Kate also says that it's "20 meters" behind its original position, and I think that's a very specific thing to mention. especially with the CCTV camera being positioned 66 meters away.

This episode felt like vintage RTD first-part finale, with him using theories and twists to distract from the bigger twists coming down the tracks. It defintely felt like Bad Wolf or Utopia, with a gradually unfolding mystery being used to distract you from what it's actually building up to. I have a theory that either the Flux, through sheer scale of death and destruction, summoned Sutekh.
@maiahochheiser7628

I'd love if it was the flux that summoned him... Would make people ease up on the whole series. I saw people thinking Sutehk entered in While Blue Yonder, but that didn't make sense to me because of *how* the Tardis left in The Star Beast, like that seemed suspicious to me. So the flux would make sense. Maybe what 14 did with the salt was the final straw that let Sutehk through

NAH BRO I am in absolute awe, doctor who has just reached one of its heights im not even kidding. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had such a physical reaction to any show ever. That build up, the naming of the gods (did I hear the mara or am I tripping?) and THAT REVEAL. Like I was pretty certain as soon I saw the red lights beaming out of the sand storm thing earlier in the episode, but god damn it did not detract from that absolute masterclass of a reveal. Nearly cried. And the fact that the whole episode I’m going like “please please please sutehk” like I’m expecting this guy and when the brother actually pulls up it’s still the craziest fucking shit ever. DAMN Best season I don’t even care. Like yeah I’ve always said series 5, and it’ll always be in my heart. But this consistent run of quality, ALMOST unrivalled (in modern) Also I know the trickster was name dropped, but I wonder if he still somehow has a role to play. Like we all remember how his theme basically played out of Ruby, and Maestro was like “nah what’s he doing in there brev” (Direct quote) Like they were confused. Idk if they’d be confused if it just simply signified sutekh. Idk where this thought came from, but I just think it’s curious. Also it’s just sorta unbelievable at this point 14 is just chilling at home cooking a roast dinner for the family or something. Like where is he??? Bro sutehk is here, get your ass over here. Anyway I think I’ve a little bit lost my marbles, can form much of a thought that isn’t just pure hype, I am very happy. Cheers Russell. CLASSIC WHO SUPREMACY

I'm told by someone that watched with me that I spent the entire episode with my hands together, fingers resting on my lip like I was studying every word, every image, like Einstein trying to figure out the Theory of Relativity. I reached a point early in the episode where I was sure what the reveal would be, but still threw my arms up, punching the air, clapping and yelling when it was revealed!

Incredibly suspenseful finale kick off. That reveal man OMG. RTD is just killing it. Here’s my theory for how it all connects. - The salt in Wild Blue Yonder (obvs) released the gods. - Mrs Flood has been orchestrating the release of Sutekh. - Ruby is the daughter of Sutekh and Susan Twist (hence god like powers of creating snow). When she enters the tardis, sutekh is able to latch on and break back into reality gradually. - this is why the tardis has been crashing into places etc as it try’s to shake off Sutekh. - In 73 yards, when everyone runs away after hearing about Ruby, it’s because they are being told that she is the daughter of Sutekh. - Whilst the realisation of this truth may initially position Ruby as an antagonist, it could ultimately be her that saves the day by unlocking her god-like powers and defeating her father? I love the way RTD is literally playing on our theories and sending us off course this season, who knows where we’ll end up next week 😅

This episode was HHHYYYYPPPPEEEE!! As someone who hasn’t watched the pyramid of mars, Sutekh seems like such a cool villain for a finale. The writing itself is very fleshed out and doesn’t feel thrown together, although there are some parts that made me cringe a bit Ngl. However, I can overlook that for everything else this episode does right. My favourite part of this episode is in the time window where the soldiers body is first shown: Kate Stewart actually CARES about the fact that someone that seems insignificant to the audience has died, and the look she gives to the doctor has soooo much sub-text. In a previous scene, where Kate comforts the doctor when he explains why he’s never mentioned his granddaughter, and she says he brings hope, but the look she gives him is almost an admission that the doctor is right when he says he brings death and destruction. I love actually feeling that the characters themselves are human beings. 9/10 episode, only flaws are those cringy bits of dialogue, and the main flaw for me is that they NEED to land the second half to make this one remain amazing, so I can’t give this a 10 until next week in case it makes it all for nothing, but I have faith in the boy Russell.

I really like the projection of the Doctor this season. It’s one of a kind and maybe underrated. For the first time in my memory, the doctor is failing so much, and not because he’s less smart or quick or whatever, but he is well and truly out of his depth with the power of the gods. We can see this major effect on him, he feels so defeated as he’s gone through so much hurt and loss already. I am truly rooting for him now, and can’t wait to see how he manages in the finale. He’s got a lot of growing to do, and I am so happy that we get to see this. It’s so fresh and interesting in the same way that the 10th was so conflicted between his good and “time lord victorious” side.

I wish I didn’t see that so I could have looked back on the past episodes and noticed them. But other than that I loved everything about this, the definitely legal way I watch the new episodes kept freezing and at one point I yelled cause it froze right when the sutekh cloud showed up. Secondly: it’s a bit odd that Sutekh went from a highly-powerful alien with delusions of godhood to the actual “god of all gods”, though it’s easy enough to blame that on time war / the Flux / the salt breaking to make the mythical Sutekh the real one But still absolutely fantastic as an episode! I especially liked how UNIT really felt like they knew and cared for each other.

I was absolutely blown away by this episode! Very rare to see a parallel plotline in a season finale in this show - the doctor with Susan Twist & Kate with Sutekh. Masterfully done. The time window scene was really well brought to life visually and conceptually; I felt genuinely nervous alongside all of the characters. Unsure how safe it was, whether the robed woman could actually see the doctor, whether they were actually changing the past, whether the past Tardis would become real in the time window...Fantastic tension and it all built up perfectly to the mysterious presence around the Tardis. Also the visual effects at the end of the episode were outstanding, clearly the Disney budget has done wonders. The reveal of Sutekh, the face prosthetics on Susan Twist, the assistant crumbling into sand - all immaculate. I'm really hoping that the second part of the finale doesn't let us down, because if the quality remains as high as it was in this episode, we could have a new best finale on our hands!

For me, The Eleventh Hour is the pinnacle of NuWho. It is the best episode of NuWho, mainly because of its simple concept of a 'crack in someone's wall.' I thought the 'Bad Wolf' concept from Series 1 with Chris Eccleston was genius, but the crack in the wall was even better. I'm ambivalent about Season 1 so far, but at least I don't hate it.

I'm not sure if it's relevant at all but the line about a woman being 66 meters away could possibly be a reference to 73 yards? Because it is roughly the same distance. It's probably just a throwaway line though. This episode also really made me want a UNIT spinoff, especially when they were talking about their previous cases. Anyway, Great episode, I'd give it a 9/10

This was a great episode. A lot of people I've seen have moaned about it being mostly set up but that's the whole point of two parters, set up and pay off. I'm glad Gabriel Woolf came back to do the voice, that must've been a special moment for RTD and the crew. Ruby had some great moments in this episode, along with Rose and Mel. Kate feels better written by RTD than the Moff (please don't attack me Moff fans). Lenny as Morris was a great new character, reminded me of Lee Evans from Planet of the Dead. That Sutekh reveal was amazing, I did have a feeling he was one of the options. It was either Susan Foreman comes back but with a vengeance (dunno just thought it would be cool) Sutekh Or just someone new called Susan. I didn't want to give my thoughts on the finale villain and just go into it blind which I think helped. I'm hyped for the next ep but sad to know it's like 6 months before we get another episode after that. All in all it was a fantastic episode with great references sprinkled throughout (got the 73 yards one straight away)

My only nitpick is that Sutekh’s eyes are red instead of green like in the original appearance. I’m assuming the production team went with red to match his original outfit color scheme. So I understand the change. I’m hoping he doesn’t stay clung to the Tardis with his face out animalistic style for the whole of the next episode and we get a new/redesign of the iconic Sutekh mask and outfit, him strolling through earth in that more humanoid style reducing things to dust as The Doctor frantically tries to figure something out would be hype. Also please give us some good Gabriel Woolf voiced monologues. You will kneel, KNEEL BEFORE THE MIGHT OF SUTEKH! 9.5-10/10 Please don’t fumble the finale.

Superb episode! I can't wait to know what's gonna happen with Ruby and her mother. I have a silly theory: the woman that leaves Ruby in the Church is Ruby herself 😅 I think it could be awesome. And on-brand. What an amazing episode. And what a twist! I have another theory. Lady Next-door is the Dream God (or maybe Dream Lord?). You can't have death without slumber: Hypnos and Tanathos. I mean... Everything that happened since The Blue Yonder is like dreams and you even have a character that is all these characters, but for her are dreams? Idk... Sounds like something is messing with dreams. Even the time feels like in a dream. The way that the characters experienced a bunch of things... Things that we have never seen. The Doctor being aware of the fact that it is a show. The sudden dance crew dancing twist... The giant Doctor and Donna, the Bi-generation, the Toymaker, the Ruby/old lady thing... Too many things that could be dreams. They have not much logic or reason, everything operates like with the supernatural and stuff... Like dreams? I mean, do you imagine if the Next-door Lady is actually like the Santa Claus from Capaldi's series and the season was a dream provoked by those nasty crabs or the Dream Lord or something? The entire season? That would be a hell of a twist!

I'm just wondering where Shirley is. Apparently Morris was a a late addition because they didn't want to waste the actor on Space Babies, which makes me think All of Morris's lines were actually Shirley's lines. The next time trailer also shows his Segway shooting rockets, which was something that Shirley's wheelchair was established to do. On a second note... why does UNIT employ literal children now? Rose and Morris both are teenagers

And man, RTD said the intro was meaning something in regards to the storyline... The Tardis is spreading dust in the opening, spreading Sutekh all over time and space. Maybe that's also why the Tardis doesn't materialise anymore in RTD2

Came here as soon as i finished it because oh my god. This fucking episode. I haven't experienced a good dr who plot twist like this in so long, and jesus christ did RTD deliver. I was one of those people thinking that the "god of all gods" might've been the trickster, but oh my days how wrong I was. I absolutely adore all the classic who throwbacks shoved into this series, and with the fucking sutekh reveal.. I was honestly blown away. I was initially kinda hesistant about this season, cuz the first two episodes didn't hit as hard as I was hoping, but since devil's chord it just kept getting better. RTD just never misses. This series is definitely one of my favourites and I absolutely adore your reactions and comments on episodes. Keep going man, cause I cannot wait for your reaction to part 2.

I loved this episode and I love that theyre bringing Sutekh back. Only Doctor Who can continue from a story from 49 years ago, and I love that. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this one. I will say I think the next episode will make or break this episode. This can't really act as a standalone episode, so I'm excited for next week. A lot of people were complaining about the anagrams with the glitchy text, but honestly I loved that. Yeah, it's a bit silly, but also it's such a Doctor Who thing to do. Also the Master's theme was used in the episode, soooooooo I'm wondering if that was just used for tension or if it's hinting at something else, but the Toymaker's tooth was picked up at the end of The Giggle, so RTD must want to bring him back at some point. Perhaps the master unleashed Sutekh somehow. Idk how he escaped the tooth though lol. That's just my wacky theory and tbh I'd rather the Master didn't come back straight away.

I am so hyped for this finale and I'm absolutely devastated that this season is almost over. The only major complaint i have for this season, really. I like the idea that Sutekh and the Beast are the same god of death type figure, but I would be mad as hell if they confirmed it. It's one of those things that works better as an unconfirmable fan theory than it ever would as hard lore.

I love the simple fact that the Doctor and Ruby are proactive in solving the mystery! Even with my favorite NewWho series arcs, the Doctor doesn't really do anything about them until they sneak up on him at the end of the series. The way Susan's been set up this season rivals the way the Master was in series 3 for me!
@kevinjmccloy5865

When has he been proactive? This is literally the only time this series the doctor has actively tried to solve the “mystery” and he doesn’t even come close, all that happens is the doctor spends 40 minutes going “oh my god, I don’t know what’s going on” and unit are all like “it’s a trap” then it turns out to be a trap. I get opinions are subjective but did anyone watch the same episode I did? It was boring af and sutek’s reveal was a waste of a cliffhanger and a waste of a character, RTD will not give sutek a story worth watching, he’s simply dragged him back for nostalgia and only that

@@kevinjmccloy5865 eh, I didn't think the episode was a 10/10 or anything either, I was just commenting on the start of the episode when they go to UNIT with the express purpose of finding Susan. As opposed to, say, Bad Wolf, which the Doctor dismisses as coincidence in Boom Town and really just motivates Rose to find a way back to the future at the very end of Parting of the Ways. (Not to say Bad Wolf was bad, this was just a nice change of pace)

@@jamiemccreath3959 I’ll concede to that but as an arc it felt like there was a missing episode because why has the doctor just suddenly gone “I’m gonna find this woman and figure out ruby’s parentage” when the rest of the season it’s barely been a focus

I have to say, the ancient Egyptian god of war, storms, chaos, disorder, foreigners, the desert, the color red, eclipses, thunderstorms, earthquakes, sandstorms, and redheads was NOT on my list... but there were SO MANY redheads!! (edit) Seriously, I'm going back tomorrow to watch every episode since the specials, because there was always a redhead, and it was even commented on! Also, please look at the quote "my parents were a postman and a dinner lady". We know Sixties Sue was a cafeteria worker, and the Tardis almost knocked out a postman... I'm looking at everything.

The reveal didn't really mean much to me since I haven't gotten to that part of Classic Who yet. Tho I have to say I was basically sure the reveal would end up to be the beast from The Satan Pit and was a little disappointed that it ended up not to be. This episode was a lot of set-up really, so it's hard to have a strong opinion on it. I did find it very odd that the Doctor didn't immediately run back to Unit HQ when the Tardis and all of his friends were in danger. Just kind of felt like RTD couldn't come up with a valid reason for that to happen. It was still mostly entertaining but with the setup nature of it all and a villain reveal that didn't mean much to me, it's one that can only really be judged with the second half available. To be honest, it felt a bit too classic RTD finale-esque to me, right down to the nonsensical puns on screen. YANA (You Are Not Alone) kind of material.

I didnt believe the Sutekh fan theories because it seemed fairly outlandish, even by RTD standards. I should've believed as soon as they 1:1 paralled the Pyramids of Mars in The Devil's Chord. I just wrote that scene off as a way to establish why the Doctor cant just run away from problems for new audiences, and a fun call back for the oldschool fans. I find it interesting that Sutekh has experienced power creep / power scaling since his introduction in Pyramids of Mars. Originally an extremely powerful, near god like ancient alien, to 30 years later the Satan Pit implying Sutekh and the Beast are just manifestations of one ancient evil, to this latest season outright saying Sutekh is a full paranormal elder god style being.
