Another popular brand for low profile mechanicals is NuPhy. I'm actually considering getting a low profile NuPhy vs Keychron, and leaning towards NuPhy for now, because even though Keychron's understated and mature color theme is elegant, I don't want all my keyboards to look the same. :3 On my K8 Pro I'm using Everglide Aqua King v3, for some reason these pair so well with the Keychron OSA keycaps. The sound they give is a very sweet pop that isn't explosive.

The "Pro" Keychron keyboards have one big gotcha - if you need to use the keyboard in low light you're SOL. You can't just buy another set of keycaps, because the "Pro" series uses south-facing LEDs - so they won't work with the majority of keycaps (I've tried, it's been pretty disappointing). There are south-facing keycaps that are available but the better ones have the characters printed on the side of the keycaps - leaving the tops blank - so the problem goes from stupid to super-retarded. It's been very frustrating and disappointing to order a "Pro" Keychron keyboard to find out I can't effectively use a basic feature that comes on cheaper keyboards. If you need shine-through keycaps - get the non-pro versions of the Keychron keyboards, they use north-facing LEDs.

My biggest issue with the Keychron boards is that the backlight doesn't shine through the stock keycaps. Of course I could just switch them out, but honestly I'm not willing to go through the time and the extra expense of finding a new set of key caps. I honestly don't understand why Keychron would include a backlight in the first place if their keycaps are just going to defeat the whole purpose.
@CinceTheDay
11 ай бұрын
my biggest issue is that they're calling those caps "double shot PBT" which in my opinion is (even if it's true) misleading and probably done to hide another disadvantage. first of all PBT is good. it usually feels much better as ABS it doesn't wear of (big ABS problem) and it does not get shiny (big problem on all keychron ABS caps) so you basically want PBT but you also want (like I do) shining letters for night use. here is one thing PBT lacks and that's the ability to be transparent. so usually what's done here is to combine PBT and ABS so the things you want to be transparent (like the letters) are cut out of the top PBT layer for the light to shine through the ABS that fills the void underneath it. so even if they double shot the caps they're doing it with two non-transparent layers so there is no use in mentioning it in the first place now the part that's even worse: those customers who do put in the effort of replacing the caps are (literally) faced with the very disappoint reason for keychron's non-transparent choice. soutfacing LED - don't even let me get started on that.

All keyboards without a corresponding option/alt key are disabled to some extent in many languages other than English. And it is usually replaced by the FN key. FN key, here, really needed? I should probably be glad no one thought of putting the sleep button here. I know everything can be remapped etc, but that doesn't make any sense for a complete keyboard set out of the box :/ Yes, I'm sad because some time ago I became the owner of a Keychron K2 V2 and this keyboard would be 10/10 (backlight, operation, etc.!) if it weren't for that damn FN in place of Option. Awesome! Do you also have wrist rest with it? I ordered mine yesterday with blue switches and many reviewers mentioned just how tall it is, so I also paired it with the official wallnut wrist rest. I don't like the fact that the keys are not shine through, so I also ordered black topped Steelseries prism PBT caps to go along with it to really make the RGB lights shine. Not sure if the blues are going to be something I can handle for the long run (hopefully they don't just end up annoying me), but I've been using cherry browns for the past 6 years and I'm tired of them at this point. I wanted something more clicky and I tried some other blue switches in local electronic stores - I was blown away with the sound and feel. Seeing the other Gateron switch options, I would really like to try greens also. They are heavier and the click seems very nice with them. But I'll have to see, this is the beauty with hot-swappable switches though. :D Would be nice to try reds too, so maybe I'll buy those also at some point.

I got a K8 (office keys) , it looks and feels solid (well so far anyway, lets see in the long run), but for a "good" keyboard it makes me do a very large amount of typing mistakes. It is just the way the keyboard is, it just makes you accidentally press the wrong keys when you type fast. Also I got a feeling keychron's way of promoting these is via those youtubers and there is a bit nasty promotion tactics. I tried to post a 3 star review on their web site (due to the typing mistakes this keyboard makes you do) but it was silently rejected. I was debating the K2 Pro or Asus Azoth, I ended up going with the Azoth for my gaming PC. I got Blue switches and I have to say I'm very impressed with the Azoth, its got all the K2 Pro features but also has more damping and faster wireless. Yea it has an OLED screen as well but that doesn't do much for the typing experience. It's so quite the blues sound like browns. I may still get the K2 Pro for my Mac Studio as moving back to more of a normal, non low-profile keyboard, that Apple keyboard stays right now just for the fingerprint scanner. I did get the K2 Keychron wrist rest because it's closest to the size of the Azoth. I'm switching from a G915 TKL which is the gaming version of the MX Mechanical. It's been great but after a couple of year I have no visible letters on the keycaps and no real replacement options. I guess technically I don't need them but we all look down from time to time. Thank you for this review... definitely leaning towards picking up a K2 now as well! I may be strange but I like to switch my keyboard out from time to time just to change things up... odd I know.

Hey there, {{3}}! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I highly recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a compact and versatile tool that can help keep your desktop, living spaces, and even your car spotless. With its powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, it's a game-changer for maintaining a clean environment. Plus, the price is quite reasonable compared to other brands. Definitely worth considering for optimizing your setup! 😄🔧🖥️

I use a PC desktop and a Mac laptop at a docking station on the same desk as the PC. Is it possible to have this hardwired to the PC, toggle to Bluetooth and use it with the Mac without unplugging it from the PC? Every keyboard I've found that has "this function" needs to be unplugged from the PC before it will work over Bluetooth with the other computer.

Own the full size logitech mechanical, have a Keychron Q1 with knob. The Keychron is head and shoulders better than the logitech. The Logi is good, the Keychron is incredible.

When I hear „best“ and Logitech in same sentence, I know something is wrong here. Keychrons are just another level

He fails to mention that with the Logi Bolt receiver, the Logi MX Mechanical Keyboard is both FIPS compliant and works within the BIOS. You won't get that with the K8 Pro.

Loving my K2 pro, only use cable though and switched to Akko Lavender switches (though it was nice before too.)

What about the sensitivity of the press? At what point does the press get triggered? This is one thing I don't see talked about on keyboard reviews. I have a Logi MX Mechanical Mini and the slightest, tiniest bump of a key registeres as press resulting in many typos. I type just fine on my mac keyboard so I don't think I'm too horrible of a typer?.......maybe I just have fat fingers?

Just got my first budget mech keyboard today. I think I'm gonna sell it later. My fingers are too short for the keys. I'll stick to the magic keyboard.

the K3 keyboard's battery only lasts 8 hours, while the Mx lasts at least two weeks, both with the key lights on. I have both.

I strongly considered getting a keychron k3 or mx mechanical for my setup but I ended up defaulting to the apple magic keyboard for touch id. I’m super used to chiclet keys, but I wanted to try out a low profile mechanical keyboard.

No Logitech, I have Keychron K3(75% red), MX full size(Brown), I don’t know how to describe it but it feels way more smooth to type on the Keychron. EDIT - the Logitech MX almost double of the price…

I love my K3. I’d always used cheap keyboards , never spending more than $20 at Walmart. After killing my one, I figured I’d step it up a bit since I’d already upgraded my iPad. Blew my mind. I do have the blue switches, but I don’t think they bother anyone.
