That water can be brackish from the ship channel (buffalo bayou) it depends on the current or tides. They been catching reds there for years

Water is not brackish in downtown Houston. Red Fish and Flounder can survive in fresh water. Reds become sterile if they stay tool long.

Got my first redfish from a bayou just like that. I’m in southeast houston and we have some bayous that feed into clear lake. Those reds will be waaaay up there sometimes.

Sweet vid we should def hit up crystal beach to bull red fish and shark fish! I got a go pro 11 I was about to start making vids with and three surf set ups! Deadass I come down from Marshal and usually go alone with my dog 😂 just an offer... one surf pole is set up for BIG sharks but I just got it so I havent got to fish with that beauty yet😂😂

There were schools of bait fish all up and down the beach and the water was clear enough I could see the baby black tips swimming around eating them. Thats when I caught that Jack Crevalle on my pf pic. I got a setup you can use just lmk haha

Because redfish will go through brackish water to feed with no problem and can even survive in fresh water, they just can’t spawn in it apparently 🤷🏾♂️…
