Where do scallops come from? I'm sure you've eaten one at some point but have absolutely no clue what an actual scallop looks like. It may surprise you to hear that they're beautiful...and I mean absolutely gorgeous. They have vibrant blue eyes, and click their shells together to skirt across the bottom of the ocean.
Today, we caught, cleaned, and cooked the scallops, all on the beach and ocean. HUGE thanks to Rob and Ray for making it happen. Tasting food that fresh is something that I urge you to try to do at some point in your life (regardless of what it may be, whether it's a fruit or a fish). This is one of the food experiences I'll remember for ever.
My method for cooking scallops is simple: sear in VERY hot oil on one side until you've achieved a thick, golden-brown crust. Then, remove from the heat and season. Only sear ONE side, or you'll overcook your scallop. Enjoy!

BIG thanks to Ray for the incredible knowledge and guidance. The scallops fear him.
