The Thames is relatively clean and belived to be the cleanest river that flows through a major city. It gets dirtier the further east it goes but Max was clearly a long way west where he caught that trout.

This makes it more, or less, British when you realize rainbow trout are an invasive species. But, they are native to British Columbia, and their existence in the UK is a result of British colonialism, which is just about the most British thing I can think of!

They’re native to North America in general. Recently some rivers and streams where I live were restocked with them, really has helped clean up the rivers and provided better fishing opportunities

True, trout is almost never used for fish and chips though, too many bones and the skin is meant to be eaten

@@UncannyLivingThat’s more because Trout is prepared similarly to salmon. People fry trout all the time in America it’s just not a fish that’s economical to sell in restaurants as fish and chips. Catfish is one of the most popular meats for fish fries but they have bones in them and are fried like the trout in this video.

How sure are you about that? Pollution wasn’t mentioned without a reason, it’s not just air pollution, there’s a long list of chemicals that all work their way into nature and animals that, while in small doses, all contribute to risks of cancer or bad health in general. Especially micro plastics is what I’d be worried about here as it’s already proven we have small amounts in our blood due to similar situations

Downriver would be in the North Sea. Up river would be up to 16 short of the Bristol channel. I would love to know which part of the Thames actually has fresh rainbow trout. And frozen chips. Importantly, the most famous British dish is not rainbow trout. Or cod. It is roast beef or chicken tikka masala in some places.
