You made a great decision at the time. Why people don't look at used cars more is beyond my understanding. The killer deal of the century now is a used model 3 performance for 29k from Tesla or Autotrader. How do people not understand this...

I got 2018 model 3 LR dual motor for $25k with 80k miles plus there is $4k IRS rebate for used EV’s. It’s a fun car, very fast, especially with acceleration boost plus saves $$$ on fuel. Definitely best car I’ve had.

Nothing wrong with buying used. I picked up a 2019 Dual Motor LR back in January for the same price and it came with the Acceleration Boost (a $2000 option) with about 95,000 miles. It still gets great range and I upgraded the hardware from 2.5 to 3.0 and use the FSD Beta. And it still has about 25000 miles of warranty still left on the battery and motors.

I just picked up a 2022 Model Y with the FSD software license. If you shop around, you can FSD in a used Tesla for only about $3000 extra. Now all I need is for them to come out with Hardware 5, and do the "FSD transfer" promotion again...

This news was just announced and finalized today, but starting in January, there's not tax requirement and you don't have to wait to get the $7500, because you get it within 72 hours of when you buy the car. I know that won't help for you for this current purchase, but hopefully for anyone watching this.

One would have to scrutinize the paperwork to make good and sure the dealer is actually tallying the Credit properly. Effective 2024, the IRS rules stipulate that the Credit can be signed over to the dealer with the agreement that the price of the car will be decreased by that $7.500 Credit. Many Dealers/manufacturers have already anticipated this rule and increased their EV MSRP's to overtake that potential credit and I have no reason to believe Tesla would be any different.

Hi Cameron, I went ahead and made my purchase. I pick up my vehicle tomorrow afternoon. I have a quick question in regards to the screen. Do I have to reset anything? I did not buy it from Tesla. I bought it from another car dealer. Any pointers or tips you can give would be so helpful. From what I read because it’s not a Tesla dealership they may not have a lot of information for me. I just need to make sure I get set up for charging and I’m able to access my screen with my information and not the previous owners if for any reason, it didn’t get reset. Sorry that’s a lot.

You can still drive the car with the keycard you will be given. You can also set the car up in the Tesla app to add your profile (Payment for charging, etc). You just add the VIN to the app, add a picture of your drivers license, and Tesla will transfer the car’s ownership to you.

@@cameron_owensI’m still nervous but bit the bullet. Any other precautions? I’m also scared about the charging. Some say don’t charge for more than 80% and then I hear about fires. The last thing I need is my house to catch fire 😮
@joewiley6927
11 ай бұрын
@@blushifyoumustthat is the last thing anyone needs! Statistics show EVs are less likely to catch fire than ICE vehicles. The 80% charging bit is focusing on battery health and long term capacity retention. Certain battery chemistries are less likely to degrade if kept from reaching the extreme ends of the charge cycle, empty or full. So keeping the battery charge between 20%-80% will most likely help maximize the cycles the battery can do in its lifetime. There are newer battery chemistries, mainly LFP type packs, that are less susceptible to the degradation on the extreme ends of the charge, and are ok to be charged fully and drained beyond 20% more regularly. When dealing with the 20-80 chemistries, you are able to charge to 100%, but it is recommended to not leave the battery fully charged for any length of time, so if you charge to 100%, plan on driving the car shortly after reaching full.

Wait a minute... So standard auto pilot doesn't comes standard? Like all its just basically lane keep and adaptive cruise isn't it? My 2018 honda fit ex has that. How in the world are they charging 3k for it? I thought you just pay 8k for the enhanced auto which does the lane changes or if you want FSD for like 15k

Autopilot comes standard on Teslas, but mine was an “off the menu” spec that was $35k when it was brand new. It is essentially a Standard Range Plus with a software locked battery and no autopilot. I can pay Tesla to unlock the battery for $2k and buy autopilot for $3k.

I bought a M3 LR from 2022 with 20k miles. It has the AMD chip, upgraded cameras, USS, double pane windows, premium sound, and has the performance boost. All for $36k. In total it comes around to the amount I would have to pay/spend if I had bought a new Vision only 2023 M3 RWD. (And test driving vision only M3's were terrible and unreliable) It was a no-brainer.

Also, I believe the standard range model 3 only has a partially tax credit currently due to the type of battery they are using, so you would only get around $3750 back instead of $7500. I could be wrong on that.

If the tax credit continues through 2024, I’m hoping that I can find a 2022 RWD under 25k next year. I’m not too worried about the mileage with the LFP battery as they don’t appear to degrade as quickly and can be charged to 100% without accelerating degradation.

4 yrs old EV for 72000 mls for 29000 USD, or new for 36000 USD which never has been driven and no one sat in? Plus 4 yrs or 50000 mls warranty (battery & drive unit 8 yrs or 120000 mls). Think first... then buy used ICE vehicle instead, if finances are in play.
