She looks very pretty and a lovely portrayal, more power to her! This performance gives more credence to the incredible vocal superiority in terms of phrasing, diction and bell like vocal quality of probably one of the greatest coloratura sopranos of the 20th century--Julie Andrews. Thank God we can enjoy her performance of his song live from many shows in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, and concert performances. If anyone gets a chance to hear her singing this song from her Japanese concert in 1980 and 1992, please do so! It is a real treat when Julie soars above the orchestra in the last 2 bars of the song like no tomorrow, slicing through the air and into our ears.

vintage babe- Your wish has been granted. A revival is set to premiere in May of next year. While they have not cast Eliza yet. It has been confirmed that Bartlett Sher will be directing. The same man who directed the revivals of South Pacific and The King and I at the Vivian Beaumount theatre. :)

Absolutely! If the key to career longevity is the joy of working. Anna will be here until she retires. Her fan club remains amidst the smaller crowd. But it is a heck of an enthusiastic one! (I'm guilty as charged) I to plan to marvel at her with every career venture she tackles. Be it a starring role in theatre, her big break in film, recording another album, the concert and recital repertoire or returning to her classical roots. I'll be there as a fan through and through to cheer her on. Wonderful to see I am not the only who shall also be doing such and reveling in her talent. :) P.S- About to head out for a late shift at work. But will be sure to reply to anything tonight when I get home. Catch you later my fellow fan. :)

Silver54ful It saddens me some that Anna's fan base is small, but I am extremely happy to hear that their are fans who adore her like you and I! While I would love to see Anna get the publicity that she righfully deserves, I must say that it will be an uphill battle if she primarily stays on the Australian stage. What I believe she needs is to find a way to land more roles on West End or Broadway. I know that this may sound silly, but I am truly hoping that Andrew Lloyd Webber casts her as Christine in a 10th Anniversary performance of Love Never Dies. Most likely that way, he'll move the show to a larger theatre. Now, you and I both know that Anna should not have to deal with Webber's bias toward anyone who is not "You Know Who", but he does have a large fan base. Thus, it is highly likely that more people will become aware of Anna. What do you think?

Hello again. I'm with you on that. Only it doesn't just make me devastated for Anna. It's for every performer out there who has been neglected in favor of the more famous. Not just referring to that one topic we covered that one day. It's the mainstream public as well. How they want to dismiss someone just because they are not aware of who they are. How else can you discover new talent if you don't give them an honest chance? It's helpful when performers do projects that are more high profile in expanding their fan base. But I still believe Anna should seek out quality scripts. Ones that she feels drawn to. Anna clearly does not seek fame and fortune. She wants to feel fulfilled as an artist. One of the primary reasons I respect her so much. It's also why I get hyped up about sharing promotional videos and such. I figure that every little bit helps. One more fan goes a long way. I do it with all my favorite musical theatre artists. And I don't deny I become tickled pink if that person ends up adoring the artist. Then that person can help spread the word too. Remember how I was so overzealous with excitement when I introduced you to Laura and her Princess Medley? I was on cloud nine practically all day when you reciprocated in admiration of her talent. I'm the exact same way every time I spot a new fan of Anna's on this site. I can't help myself. I just feel the need to post my joy verbally and welcome them into the fan club. If a performer does not wish to do film or television. Traveling around the globe to work on various stage productions is the only way to build up the fan base. But you are correct that by doing the West End or Broadway is considered the fast track to becoming recognized. If not hitting stardom. Anna has addressed the idea of moving to New York or Toronto Canada if she were to procure a role in a musical she wanted. As of right now, she has not found one. She stated that Australia (in particular Melbourne where she was born and raised) is home first and foremost. London following in a close second. Anna is one of those people whose philosophy is slow and steady pacing. I respect that greatly. She knows she has fans and acknowledges us. Among staying true to improving her craft. For as much as I would love for her to become a world wide super star. If she would rather be the person who remains under the radar but continues to do work she proud of. I can never fault her for that. But I have no shame in faulting those in casting who continue to turn a blind eye to the true triple threat talents in an agenda of picking the famous faces. The "those who shall not be named" stars. Now that will forever be a pet peeve of mine. No doubt that ALW can have a major impact in getting performers noticed. Same with Cameron McIntosh and Hal Prince. Their casting decisions and the anniversary specials are given spotlight treatment. As such carry huge influence. As he new expression goes "It's about who you know. Not what's on your resume." Does that anger me? Yes! Still it remains undeniable that being cast as the star in a commercially successful show has enormous advantages down the road. As we know with a certain somebody. Be that as it may. To be hand picked by Dame Julie Andrews for such an iconic role can not be ignored. Anna hit the jackpot! It wasn't just Australian actresses who auditioned for Eliza in this current pivotal production directed by Ms.Andrews. Women from all over the world went in. (There are even rumors through the grapevine some actresses we know of had their hand in trying out) Anna being the one to be chosen as the principal lead speaks volumes. This lady was certainly not picked on a whim. She earned this honor. This will make her force to reckoned with. :)

When did she do this? That isn't the costume for this song, is it? Eliza sings that after the ball just as she returns to Higgins' house. Her voice is marvelous. It doesn't really compare with Julie's though. Julie's had a better tone and quality, but Anna is very good. It must be hard to be compared to perfection.
