You don't fake blues like this. You don't learn it from a book. You don't take lessons. This flows through you like 1.21 gigawatts of lightning, going where it pleases, arcing and sparking, brightly then dim, and Gary was the real deal. Glad you saw this one, Mr. Boo

Love me some Gary moore. The Loner (music video) and Empty Rooms live 1987 are my favorites by him. Though I still think that Pink Floyd's on the Turning Away and Sorrow are probably the most emotional guitar solos I've heard.

Gary is awesome, but check out his contemporary, the legendary Rory Gallagher. His blues are amazing and his rock is fabulous. Rory was counted up there with Clapton, Hendrix and Beck;the Rolling Stones tried to recruit him. But he was all about the music, not the fame or fortune. Take a listen to cuts like "In Your Town", "Bullfrog Blues" or "Off the Handle" for an introduction into his blues inspired rock. You won't be sorry!

If that guitar sounds like a million bucks, you are selling it short. We don't know what it sold for, only that the bid it beat was 1.2 million. Rumors are Kirk Hammet of Metallica paid as much as 10 million for it. It was a gift to Gary from Fleetwood Mac's Peter Green and that out of phase pickup (Wired backwards) is so legendary, some new Les Paul style guitars today sell with a switch to put it out of phase.

@johnhernan9238
Жыл бұрын
well not actually pronounced « Tin » …. when looking for a name, the group thought about « Tin Lizzie » but thats a character from a comic. So they settled on Thin Lizzy - people outside of Ireland often think it’s pronounced « tin », its because Phil spoke with a Dublin / North Dublin accent which gives the impression of « Tin ». For some reason You tube has contributed to the ever growing myth that it’s « Ton » - nope

Weaboo...Kirk Hammett of Metallica has that gold Les Paul guitar that Gary is playing in that video. Research the history of Gary Moore's guitar and you'll enjoy the info you find!
@davidc2733

Unfortunately not true. Hammett does have 'Greeny', the Unburst (faded sunburst), not Gold Top, Les Paul previously owned by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac prior to Gary, but this one on this video isn't it. Greeny always had Nickle pickup covers - this guitar has exposed black bobbins, (covers removed). He had a few nice guitars!
