Maybe you should think of your original plan and move in with your parents for a little bIt. It will give you time to think about your next move without the pressure of paying for housing. Just a thought.

Omg you’ve so much going on. Don’t rush into anything like sell the property or change jobs. Maybe moving home will give you the breathing space you need and the back up too. I know it can be hard to ask for help but you know if one of your friends was in a similar situation you’d be the first to help, with kindness, compassion and most importantly without judgment. You are very brave to share all this with us and you give hope and encouragement to others who may feel stuck/lost/confused. Don’t apologise for no transfer either because this is real life. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Have a good week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏💪👍🙏💐🐈🐈⬛

Some people say hang on to the rental as it may provide good "extra" income in the future. A "house" whether you live in it or rent it out is always going to suck money from you - the older it gets the more things have to be replaced - and that's outside of the "wear and tear" some renters inflict on YOUR property. I would sell it to give myself a financial "cushion" and then take some time really delving into what I wanted for my life - job wise, housing wise, salary wise, and location wise. Move to the area your heart is happiest in...then go from there. Don't let fear push you to make desperate decisions because that sets you back in all areas - but especially finances and mental health. Slow down and BREATHE!

Decision fatigue is real. Personally, i am accountable for so many decision at work that I literally become paralyzed with decision making in my personal life. There are pros and cons to the 18th or end of month. Neither will be a "bad" decision. When will your review period be complete? If you decide to stay through the end of July, maybe you can "front load" trips before you move and if you end moving farther away you won't have to drive back as much. Also, i would consider how is the sound after he took the speaker off the ceiling? I love the relationship you have with your brother, maybe you give him the factors and let him decide so it's one thing off your plate. If you don't like his answer, maybe that'll tell you how you really feel and then go with that lol

You were weary about the apartment from the beginning and you were weary about the job from the beginning. That tells me you need to move AND look for other jobs. If selling the rental property gives you enough cash to buy yourself some time, do that. Settle where you want to in Maine(hopefully with the cash from the rental) and then look for jobs there. You’ve been working for years to be in a financial place to give yourself options. Take advantage of those options. Sending you all the good vibes!

It might be rough right now, but just keep pushing forward. Don't make any rash decisions. Plus they said they would work with you to get you to your preferred location. Don't let it slide or slip their minds. Ask to be notified or wait listed for it. Might take a bit of time to get back into the groove of this job. Try for at least 6 months before throwing in the towel. If after 6 months nothing has changed then gtfo and have a solid plan b laid out.

I feel so much for you and I think you are very wise in already looking at this experience as a lesson. I really do think you need some time to decide what you want to do longer term without the added strain of the lack of affordable housing. I still think you should move back in with family to allow you the space to make your decision from a stable and stress free situation. Perhaps defer the sale fo the rental property if the market in that area is still strong. Let it appreciate while your future develops. Enjoy the summer months and remember to love yourself. Hi Rachel- I know you mentioned potentially "unloading" your current rental property- I would hang out onto it-even if you are only breaking even with it. Unless there is more to it of course. For example, causing you too much stress/losing money. Obviously I don't have all the details, but really think through that one. It could be an excellent source of future income 10-20 years down the road. Jeff

I think it's unfair that they are taking so much money off you for rent when they duped you into taking such a terrible flat. With the next place, take the easiest option - ie your parents - for now, and take your time. Rushing will invariably mean you end up with somewhere you don't like. If you can take the pressure off yourself, especially when you are still settling into a new job, I think that will be better for your long term plan.

Thank you!! Some of my happiest jobs have been working as a field tech and working directly with fish (breeding, raising, counting, sorting, trucking them around, etc.). Typically these kinds of jobs are seasonal, don't offer benefits or pay much at all. When I've had these kinds of jobs in the past, I was NOT financially secure at all so the pay was not enough. But nowadays, my situation is different, my high-interest debts are all gone and I need less money to live than I used to so I could financially handle less pay now. I just have to wait and try my best to find these types of jobs again!

Dear Rachel, you have been through so much change and upheaval in the past few months … it is no wonder you are feeling anxious and lost. Focus on kind and gentle routines you can implement in your life, as this is in your sphere of control. Spending time in nature, healthy eating, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, minimizing exposure to media/people/experiences which impact you in negative ways. Read and listen to words which comfort, reassure and inspire. (I’m currently reading ‘The Wealth Money Can’t Buy’ by Robin Sharma - it’s a lovely read). Day by day things will get back onto a more even keel, and once they do you will be in a better headspace to make those decisions you are contemplating about work / home / selling your rental property.

This job seems so miserable, aside from the ocean part. You said you make your decisions based on yr feelings, like you said you could feel that you shouldn't be living somewhere. Isn't the getting/feeling sick part of that? Well hope it gets better...also fwiw I just got an apartment, and I hate it too...but can't get out of lease cause don't have the extra money to pay the penalty. Don't understand why people who live above you in an apt are always stomping around. Also with this place somebody upstairs is bouncing balls or something...concrete floor and you can still hear it. Complained, seemed like they stopped for awhile, but quietly doing it again....sorry for the complaining lol...take care

you are entitled to a reasonably livable apartment to live in. your landlord in the commonwealth in MA - has obligations. send them a letter informing them that if the noise does not become acceptable to live and sleep - you will not pay rent & they will be forced to evict you. Eviction process can take years in the comm9nwealth. very hard to evict tenants. there are tenant rights . you do not need to be a victim of this landlord.. once you go to court any and all judges will be very much on your side - you deserve the right to some level of peace in the apartment you pay $1500/ month for.

I’ve been following you for a long time and am having a hard time following and understanding you. I thought you left the nuclear plant to get back into the field? Now, you’re over being on the ocean immediately and hate where you’re living? You interviewed and knew exactly what the job required as you’ve done it before. You seem to be all over the place. Maybe you should move back home with your parents, reset, and really marinate on what you want your life to be like and what would be the best fit for you career wise.

So yes, now I'm back in the field but unfortunately struggling with seasickness. But like I said, I am going to give it time to allow my body time to adjust. And the specific apartment situation is unfortunate but certainly not something I saw coming or was planning on. I'm just trying my best to figure everything out.
