and this is what I've tried to explain to other axe guys that forge axes harden your poles especially on wedge bangers I have timber faller buddy's on the Oregon coast that would buy them in a heartbeat

That was brutal! If anyone were to ever do that to a badass hand forged axe in any normal situation they must have had previous head trauma. I'm very impressed with your product. S7 is some tough steel!

I can see why you harden the whole head, I have an old plum rafter with a hardened pull, the pull is in good shape but the cheeks have deformed over the years and bent a bit, I could see your rafter holding up better long term.

That is exactly why I harden them. Definitely don't want them deforming with time.

Did not know you hardened the entire head. I like it! Love the stamp! Love the axe. I need one 😁

Thanks, the theory is my stamps will last longer with a hardened body if someone 50 years from now decides to hammer with the side of the axe.

Awesome test of the axe! Impressive tools. Is that a poplar wedge? I started using white oak in my splitters because my poplars would always come out. I think the repeated smashing compresses the poplar too much. White oak seems to hood up a bit better.

Thanks, it's a jatoba wedge. I was experimenting with not gluing the wedge and learned glue is actually important.
