As someone that is working in the game industry and all of this seems very familair, how big are the changes of succesfully switching industries and getting clients when freelancing? If we take this project as an example, how much time will a client give you for this? And what would you charge (i know this is a very dependent question, but ballpark?) Would it be enough to have a few projects like this on your portfolio to get actual clients? Or would that be impossible and would you need inside contacts from working at studios? For someone that is already experienced creating 3D models, materials and has the technical capability to create a scene like this in UE5 but is new to ArchViz where would you tell them to start? Would it be by interpreting building plans? Is it required to have knowledge in CAD programs, I'm assuming that is one of the resources the client will provide for you to work off.

First of all I want to know if there is like an online version for unreal engine or would I need like a powerful PC to run it. Secondly for the modeling part You used 3DS max. I created a house on sketchup about 13 years ago and exported to lumion. Can you export from sketchup to unreal? Thirdly you mentioned something about adding furniture and grass and all the free stuff. Are those available in unreal? Whats the best software to place things inside the building? I'd appreciate any help on this thanks...

You should check out my videos on Twinmotion. Consider it Unreal Engine light. Still takes a pretty powerful PC to run (no online version) but it can do everything you need. It has all the stuff you would want to add too. Sketchup will be fine. It is very similar to Lumion, but it has VR capability

Hey Adam, awsome product !!! One question: so lets say the client wants changes like diff mats, other furniture models or even design changes etc ... would be that a big or a medium headake to go trough ? How would you approach this, u would go in 3ds max and do these changes and import again in UE ? and if u do, would u have to redo the blueprints, lights and stuff all over ? Or u can somehow update the UE file with the new changes ? If u would have a client with an interior & exterior house design, with a real location context, like a suburban n-hood for ex, would u also create the surroundings in 3d ? If yes, how would u approach that ? I subscribed & liked, ur answer would be much appreciated.
@Learn-archViz
10 ай бұрын
To your first question, yes, Datasmith allows you re-import your geometry from Max without disrupting all the work you have already done in Unreal Engine. In fact, it can even be setup as a live link. You just have to get the workflow right, but it does allow for changes without losing work. To your second question, yes, I would create most of that in 3ds Max as well. The thing I save for Unreal is a lot of the natural surroundings, because it has such great tools and assets for those types of things. It is not so good at modeling hardscaping, surrounding bldgs and custom objects, etc.

Hi Adam, i interested in purchasing your tutorial in udemy about compositing 3d object into drone camera using 3ds max and AE, but our workflow on the rendering is using UE5, my question is is that lesson can be beneficial to us ? How to bring the drone tracking into UE5 ?
@Learn-archViz

I have never figured out how to adapt it to UE5, but I suspect there must be a way. I suppose you could do it by using 3ds Max as an intermediate step, then exporting the animated camera into UE5. I think my course would be helpful, specifically for the After Effects part, but I think it would be hit and miss after that.

The most flickering I experienced using Lumen was with light emitting objects or self-illumination. I was able to fix it by limiting that and lighting with Unreal Engine lights instead. With that set up, Lumen performed very well.

This one is hard to say, because I spent so much time "designing" and modeling in 3d. If I had the plans for it already, and wasn't spending the time making all those decisions, it would be much, much faster. So, basically, however much time it would take to model all of this, plus maybe 10-15 more hours to set up all the UE5 and interactive stuff. The UE5 stuff can go much faster once you have it figured out too, because it can easily be applied to other projects. I think if this was a normal client project where they provide all the plans and finishes to me, I would look at this and estimate 40 hrs for completion. Obviously, that can change a lot too with how many custom objects/materials you need to build, and how much back and forth there is with the client.

I have had an Unreal Engine course for a long time, so the course has a lot of things in it. It started with an extensive UE4 project similar to this one. When UE5 came out I added a full UE5 project using Lumen, Nanite, etc and rendering out cinematics. Now, to add in some of the blueprints and interactions, I am demonstrating with the project you see in this video. Some has been added already, but more coming in the upcoming weeks/months. The same interactions I am using here are already shown in the course, but using the UE4 project as the example (blueprints have not really changed). Hopefully that is helpful. Check the links in the description if you're interested.

I don't know because I have been working on it on and off for a really long time. That said, the most work for sure was the modeling and materials. When you are creating from scratch, there is a lot of going back and forth and trying to get things to look just right. Once everything is looking good in Max/Vray, though, it is not too crazy to put it into real time, because things translate well. Blueprints can again be time consuming, but only when you are trying to figure things out as you go. If I were to do this again, I could get the blueprints up and running quite quickly. If I were to build this again from a set of plans, all the way to interactive walkthrough, I would estimate that it would take me maybe 30-40 hours with 70% of that time spent in 3ds Max / V-Ray.

Is it possible to use those Archviz projects and interactive projects and turn into a game?
@Learn-archViz
9 ай бұрын
IDK what the difference would be honestly. This is created using the same techniques and software as a game. It essentially IS a game. The only question is how much interaction you want to add, and if you want to "gamify" it more using additional blueprints. So, the answer is yes. There is nothing special about a "game" that could not be done here as well.

I haven't counted, but I bet I have around 100 lights and framerate remains good. The key is Lumen. It gives really good quality without a huge hit to frame rate. It does struggle in a few areas on the interior, mostly on light emitting objects. The exterior works beautifully with a simple HDRI setup.

This one it is hard to say, because I actually developed this model off and on for a really long time. Adding all the interaction took quite a while too, because I was experimenting A LOT, but no all these principles can be merged with future projects. I think that now, after having figured out the workflow and the blueprints, I could take a finished model and have it up and running with these kinds of interactions in maybe 10-15 hrs at this same quality. A lot of that time would be adapting materials, lighting, and blueprints to the specific project.
