@@bbmadelineFate? Destiny? Supernatural intervention? Two things! My fiance? She is also Puerto Rican, but we didn't know anything about me til after I took the test. The other thing is, being Black American I've speculated the PR must've happened during the 1800's (slavery era or shortly thereafter), because no one in my family knows anything about it. As for the East European portion (unless there's some sorta Haitian connection. Polish soldiers helped Haitians against the French in their fight for freedom, and they later became Haitian citizens and mingled in the population) IDK, as Eastern Europe was not really involved in the slave trade. Unless MyHeritage DNA is confusing (or lying) that that Eastern European DNA is really Ashkenazi Jewish DNA. They did settle early parts of America, and many came from Poland/Germany. Anyway, just some food for thought. Thanks again.

Ethnicity is not the same as nationality. Just as American is a nationality but not an ethnicity, Mexican is also a nationality not an ethnicity. The original intent of ethnicity estimates was to tell where your ancestors lived 500 to 1000 years ago, before intercontinental travel. Since there are no living people that old, each of the DNA companies create reference panels of living users who claim that all four grandparents were born in a specific location. On 23andMe, ethnicity estimates are presented with a confidence level default of 50%. If you change the slider to, say, 95%, the estimates will change. On AncestryDNA, the ethnicity estimates are shown in a range. If you click the percent number, it will show you the range. The only way to know where your family lived is to build a well-documented tree. The auto-generated Family Tree on 23andMe is similar to the By Parent split on AncestryDNA. They cannot tell which side is maternal or paternal. You have to figure that out. On AncestryDNA, you can build family trees, but you can't see the records without a subscription.

Those regions in Turkey used to be a majority Armenian. Most Armenians used to live in what today is known as Turkey before the Armenian genocide. During the genocide around to 200,000 Armenian women and children were forcibly converted to Islam and integrated into Muslim households. Young women and girls were often appropriated as house servants or sex slaves. These Armenian women who were taken ended up in Turkish or Kurdish households. So the current population of eastern turkey still have some Armenian ancestry. That's why most Armenians get regions in Turkey when they do DNA ancestry tests. In most of Latin America after they got independence from Spain there were this cultural movement when the new governments tried to erase everyone's identities and encouraged them to mix so that everyone would become this new national identity. Before this most Spanish settlers were still 100% European and most indigenous people were still 100% indigenous. After this everyone was mixed and everyone just started identifying as just being from the country they reside in and not their specific ethnic background. So today many Latin Americans will say they are fully Mexican, Puerto Rican, Dominican etc. even though everyone in all these countries are mixed Spanish/Indigenous, with a little bit of African. Poland and Lithuania used to be the same country. Even as recent as a hundred years ago the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, was still a majority Polish. Though most Poles were repatriated from Lithuania by the Soviet Union during the 1940s. So it makes sense for Polish people to get regions in Lithuania.

The reason why a lot of people didn’t know about the Armenian Genocide or recognized it. Due to it being in our 1st to 2nd Grest grandparents era. Some people their 2nd to 3rd great grandparents era(mostly today’s kids and teenagers. Rarely 20 and 30 years olds). Ihe Great War was 110-106. Which is the time period of the Armenian Genocide. No one is still alive to express PRSD in 2024 compared to there are still some people still alive that did experience and have express PTSD of the Holocaust still in 2024. Türkiye doesn’t want to pay a tolement like Germany did for the Holocausts as well. Typically things that a hundred years oe more typically get forgotten by the public that aren’t historians. History is just seen as boring to a lot of kids these days. Even to a bunch of young adults around my age. Even things that aren’t 100 years like the war od 1939-45, the Korean War 1950-53, The Vietnam War 1955-75, and the entire war against Communism of the 20th century are slowly being forgotten by those whom aren’t alive or were too young in those war eras. Ignorance is caused by a lack of lnowledge and stupidity is caused by a lack of education in society. Also people don’t feel that the Armenian Grnocide,Pontic Genocide,Holocaust, and Uganda or Rowanda Genocide are ompoetant as they didn’t happened on US and Canadian soil. Yet several Jews and Armenians and Greeks came here to escape those tragedies to gain a better life. I think maybe that’s the reason why,I could be wrong yet thst’s okay to be wrong?(
