For context on deep voice Fluttershy: In the episode Fluttershy really wants to perform with the acapaella group but has too much stage fright to actually do it. Then when Big Mac loses his voice during a turkey call competition, Rarity remembers that the poison joke plant they encountered in the forest during the first episode with Zecora way back in season one made Fluttershy's voice deep like Big Mac's and asks her if she'd be willing to use the plant to temporarily change her voice and fill in for him once or twice. She's still too scared to be on stage herself, hence the hiding while lip syncing. But she ends up enjoying herself so much that she keeps agreeing to more and more performances and ends up getting so lost in the performance that she accidentally reveals herself.

To be fair, the kids weren't afraid of Tempest (the villain from the last song) because she didn't have magic anymore but because she couldn't control. Look closely and you will see it sparkle. I love your explanation for 'Open Up Your Eyes'. I do wish that the film LITERALLY had more build-up for The Storm King's arrival to Canterlot. Such build-up would've been from the prequel comics with certain moments being animated & playing before the main title of the film or after the original start of the film (deleted scene) where Twilight Sparkle explains who she is, explaining about the Princesses, and her friends. The film could've been SOOOO much more.

@@COSun25 Yeah, the movie had so much done so amazingly well, the animation was amazing, the songs were incredible, the VA's knocked it out of the park, Tempest was WAY more amazing a character then anyone thought she was going to be But the story itself just, was not up to the task of making it all work when brought together. So many plot holes, so many things that it makes no sense why the characters are doing them beyond "it's what the plot needs to happen" and just, no real good use of build ups or pay offs along the way. The reason Fluttershy had a deep voice is because of a call back to an earlier episode where the Mane Six are affected by a weird flower that pulls pranks on people. In the first song, at the beginning the quartet sings normally and after Big Mac has no voice because he participated in a turkey shouting contest. All of the singers in MLP: FiM were (and still are) phenomenal, and, in all honesty, it's actually quite uncommon to have a character's singing VA be different to their regular VA. Twilight (voiced by Tara Strong, sung by Rebecca Shoichet, Rarity (speaking voice: Tabitha St Germain, singing voice: Kazumi Evans), Pinkie Pie (speaking: Andrea Libman, singing: Shannon Chan-Kent) and Princess Luna (speaking: Tabitha St Germain, singing: Kazumi Evans (Season 4 finale)/Aloma Steele (Season 6 and Season 9)) are the only examples I can think of (except for Sweetie Belle in Season 1, who's singing voice was provided by Applebloom's VA, Michelle Creber. After that, Claire Corlett, Sweetie's actual VA, did the singing herself). I think special mentions deserve to go to Ashleigh Ball, who not only voices two of the Mane 6 when they're speaking, but when they're singing as well, and Michelle Creber, who has a properly amazing voice, with some pretty cool music of her own out in the world. Additionally, a lot of credit needs to go to Daniel Ingram, the songwriter for the series, including most Equestria Girls tracks. Without his insane level of talent, none of those songs would exist. Finally, in case you weren't aware, two things: The Magic of Friendship Grows was the last thing we heard before the credits rolled on the final episode ever, so even today, nearly 4 years later, I still get teary-eyed, and I'm a man in my mid-20s! Second, regarding Open Up Your Eyes, that villain song from the 2017 movie, the VA (speaking and singing) for the villain in question, Tempest Shadow, is none other than the cinematic powerhouse Emily Blunt, the woman who brought Mary Poppins back, went boating down a tropical river with The Rock, and starred alongside her real-life husband in A Quiet Place.

For Fluttershy's Male Voice, it's actually a Call Back from an episode where they run into Flowers called Poison Joke where random stuff happen on each of the Ponies. Pinkie Pie's Tongue is in a way Twisted, making her words makes no sense. Twilight Sparkles Horn is "Limp" with Blue Spots, which is also a hidden adult joke. Rarity's Mane is literally like a Mop. Rainbow Dash's Nickname of Rainbow Crash is literal. Apple Jack became tiny, giving her a nickname of Tiny Jack of something. Lastly, I think, is Fluttershy's Voice becoming the opposite from Feminine Soft to Masculine Deep.

@MattTOB618
Жыл бұрын
To clarify what Poison Joke is if you haven't seen the show: it's like Poison Oak, but instead of giving you a rash when you touch it, it'll play a prank on you (make you shrink, make your hair and fur really long and shaggy, make your horn go all limp and floppy, etc.). The joke it plays is different per person, and it'll go away if you take a bath that has a certain herb mixed into it. The thing it does for Fluttershy specifically is that it makes her voice really deep (hence the name "Flutterguy"). So in this scenario, since Big Mac has lost his voice, one of their friends (who's really good with making potions and stuff out of herbs and plants) makes a mix that will give Fluttershy the deep voice on purpose so that she can fill his role from behind the curtain.

Just a little context with Hearts Strong As Horses, Scootaloo's wings are likely handicapped. She can't fly, and this episode is where that's addressed when the bullies call her out on it to ruin their efforts to get on the team. That said, she's able to use them to scooter better than anyone else. So, her pulling the others all the way to the competition is showing how she's turned what she has into a strength, and now sees it that way thanks to her friends. Ponies cut deep, man. Also, when you've seen the show, Magic of Friendship Grows hits harder with every detail you notice. Example, Applejack's wearing her grandma's scarf, and we don't see Granny Smith on the farm. Only explanation is she died sometime between the finale and this epilogue song. Other than a couple villains, the only deaths even hinted at in the show are in the Apple Family, and it hurts seeing one more, especially after 9 seasons getting to like her

For some context on why Scootaloo was upset at the beginning of the Hearts Strong as Horses reprise, the episode has their bullies mocking her for her disability (being unable to fly) and she becomes so focused on flying in a routine they're putting together that Sweetie Belle and Applebloom get frustrated and say it would be better if she just doesn't come to the event at all. Rainbow Dash helps them get back to her and they apologize, go to the event, and perform.

Honestly all of those songs bop for different reasons and I love them all. And heck yes I still get wet eyes with the ending song, seeing everyone older, Granny Smith is gone, Pinky married Werid Al and had kids, I just love it all and it's so emotional. And the movie song is sang by the best named villain ever; Fizzlepop Berrytwist.

The reason that the ponies in the flashback were scared of her is because with her horn broken, she couldn't fully control her magic so it was dangerous volatile and explosive.

Years has passed since mlp has ended, and that last song still has be bawling my eyes out. Mlp has been a part of my life since I was a kid, from Gen3 to Gen4. And seeing it end still breaks my heart. Mlp lives in my heart rent free

You are still missing out until you hear the movie songs "One Small Thing" & "Time to be Awesome", and from later seasons: "Lotta Little Things" {royal sisters}, "Friendship U" {Flim & Flam}, "The Magic Inside" & "Equestria, the Land I Love" {by the guest VA & character who did "The Spectacle"}, and especially the former-villains bonding number "We're Friendship Bound" and the current-villains attempted-bonding number "Better Way to be Bad"!

After seeing that finale again... I really wish G5 was a direct continuation. The Mane 6 could be older, and Twilight could be the mane Princess of Equestria, but the story could follow the new younger characters, still living in the same Ponyville we all know. I miss everything about this show, including how they were able to handle more mature themes. This show wasn't for children, it was for all ages. I wish it continued, even if it was different.

@@bea2323 Yeah. I've been trying to give G5 a chance, but it really feels like it breaks continuity. And overall it just feels less appealing to older audiences. Like it's specifically targeting young children, especially those who use Tiktok and follow streamers and influencers, etc. Friendship is Magic was something truly special, no matter what age you are. And I have so many questions about the canon in the new show. Where are the yaks? The gryphons? The changelings? Where is Ponyville? Where is Canterlot? Who is the Princess in charge of Canterlot Palace now (after Celestia and then Twilight) and how did they become an alicorn? Where is Discord? It feels like so much continuity was thrown out the window. I wouldn't mind them changing up the art style and animation (even though FIM was already perfect in that regard) and changing the mane characters, if they just at least kept the same continuity, and the same tone. We could have our familiar characters as supporting characters. Twilight could be the mentor figure to the new protagonist. I just want to be back in this world.

i fully agree, they spent basically 10 years making such a strong foundation and fanbase and i feel like they couldve continued it through stories about how they ended up where they were in the finale

5:50 If I remember correctly, Big Mac lost his voice and Fluttershy drank something that made her voice deeper so she can do the singing for him.

To provide some context to the first (several) songs: Big Mac loses his voice right before a fundraiser. Fluttershy loves the Ponytones but is uncomfortable with performing, so she agrees to use a magic flower (a callback to a season one episode) to artificially lower her voice and perform from behind a curtain while Big Mac mouths the words on stage.

i still remember when the last ep came out, me and my best friend at the time were literally on the same second it came out, watching it. and the way in the end we were crying our hearts out ong u cant believe how much we cried, we had been big fans for an such an long time and absolutely loved the series and it was so heartbreaking when the last season came out cuz it felt like the whole series just vanished. And it has been a while but in the first song, if i remember correct, big mack lost his voice and something i dont even remember what happened w fluttershy but then fluttershy had that voice and was big fan of their group and knew all the lyrics and stuff but had bad stage anxiety or what is it called so they agreed to do the shows with big mack (btw idk am i writing his name correct) lipsynking and fluttershy somewhere hiding and singing. :D

Short backstory: the little fillies who rejected the girl with the broken horn were actually scared bc of how dangerous her magic turned out to be after broken (also her dream was to study in Celestia's school for talented unicorns, it's in a book with her backstory)

2:01 The reason She’s singing in a low voice is because she “Spoilers” purposely drank a potion made by Zecora the local Shaman who lives in the Everfree forest which contains the poison joke plant. That’s a call back to the episode “Bridle Gossip” when the Mane Six get to know Zecora for the first time. The plant played little jokes on everyone that walked through the field of blue flowers. Poor Fluttershy’s voice became very deep making her sound like a guy instead of a girl. Point being that in order to Help Big Mac who lost his voice Fluttershy decided to help by drinking the potion and singing from behind the curtain while the “Ponytones” the Acapella singing group led by Rarity performing in town at various functions. Eventually the truth is found out that Fluttershy was the one singing instead of Big Mac and Fluttershy’s friends try comforting her and helping her to slowly work on conquering her stage fright and sing in front of other ponies. A really heart warming episode overall.

Yes as the French of Magic Rose it does flashback to everyone's old age and when Twilight actually has a pupil And she explains to her at the end that friendship is important and it's so beautiful and it's much needed. But Matthew if we really want a really good upbeat oh man I can do anything songs you should try and listen and make a video of you listening to pokémon theme songs. They are the bomb.

Very much enjoyed the video, as always! I have some suggestions, Genshin Impact fansongs are REALLY good and I don't see people reacting to them, my personal favorites are Live in Life - Will Stetson, The Diagnosis (Genshin Impact Fan Musical), Bubblegum Party by Shmolo, and We are not alone - Project Mons, but there are plenty of other good ones! Either way, I hope life is treating you well :)

Interesting how the songs you picked showcase 2 different pony "disabilities": Scootaloo's wings (little orange pony, she cannot fly but can propel her scooter with her wings) and Tempest's horn (movie pony villian, her broken horn is more suited to explosions) (Icould say several other things but others seem to have done so :)

There are 4 types of ponnies, earth ponnies (like Apple Jack) they have super strength, Pegasus ponnies (Like Rainbow Dash) have- well, wings, Unicorns (like Rarity) and finally… Alicorn ponnies (like twilight and the other princesses) have the combined powers of all other ponnies. Also, in the end, it’s like- 20 years later so every one has grown up/old. Except Twlight, and Spike cus Alicorns and Dragons have much longer life span. Ex. Princess Luna and Celestia were well over 2000 years old and they don’t look older than twilight does now. They Retired to the paradise island in the last few episodes, they’re still pretty young for Alicorns and Dragons can live incredibly long as well.
