Hi everyone! Thanks so much for watching! 💜 I've been getting quite a few repetitive comments on this video so I'm addressing them here: 1. The mirror has been moved up since posting. In the moment of trying to get the video done, it looked fine. Thanks to everyone who pointed it out. 2. There's been concerns about the purse by the door. That was for styling purposes (the purse was actually stuffed full of paper lol)! We don't keep our wallets by the door. 3. I love the idea of creating more separation by adding a shelf or console table. I already have plans to do that the future living room makeover! I appreciate all the love and helpful comments I've received on this video & my channel! Thanks everyone for your support! 💜✨

Beautiful entryway. I suggest to separate the living room to the foyer/entryway- use a bookcase (like a billy from IKEA) right beside your side table. That way you have cubbies for bags and it provides a slight divide (for drafts, feng shui, etc.). Nothing longer than 3ft.

4:39 This was extremely helpful! Unfortunately for me, my hardware store couldn't match my white paint to my apartment about 7 or 8 years ago. What they came up with ended up being more gray when tested on the wall than the paint actually was. I went back to the same Hardware store, tried again, and still didn't end up with the correct shade of white. 🥴 Does anyone know if hardware stores (specifically Home Depot) are better at matching shades of white paint now? Has anyone else successfully matched white paint from HD or Lowe's?
@ActuallyAlli
10 ай бұрын
I think probably your best bet would be Sherwin Williams since that's usually where businesses go for paint! But I got a near-perfect match on mine from Home Depot. They did say the tech has improved a lot, but it still doesn't work every time.
@scootermom1791
10 ай бұрын
@@ActuallyAlli I didn't even think to try Sherwin Williams, but that's a really good idea! The funny thing is that the maintenance guy for our apartments said he and our former manager didn't have any records of what paint, specifically, they'd used for our places. The people a few managers before them were terrible at keeping records. Anyway, they tried "like crazy" to find the match but never could. They ended up going with something entirely different for repainting when people move out. I think they only tried the hardware stores and didn't try Sherwin Williams. It will be funny if Sherwin Williams can match the paint after all the attempts to find it. Lol Anyway, thanks for the tip!

Before they put your sample in the spectrometer- you can get a piece of solid white poster board or paint a paint stick with 2-3 coats of white paint. Attach your sample to it. That keeps the spectrometer from shooting the light through yiur sample and picking up the black stopper that holds your chip in place. A thin swipe of white caulk of clear glue will work for that.

Nice additions. Although I would have a added light coloured bookcase to the right when entering your room. Placing books, plants, ornaments etc. will hide your lovely lounge from the outside world looking in when the front door is open. Or I would pay to have the front door reversed to open the opposite way. Therefore nobody will see into your room only your hallway.

4:12 "It's voiceover Alli here".....lol hilarious! 😅 The hack where you applied hot glue to the command strip was exactly what I've been searching for and "accidentally" found in this video! I have a couple of heavy picture frames I've been wanting to hang up. I purchased the heavy duty command strips which should be able to hold the frames up, but I've still been hesitant about trying them. The frames are irreplaceable, so I have been concerned the strips won't hold the weight, and the pictures would fall and break - glass and all. Using your hot glue hack, I think I can finally create the photo wall I've been wanting to do. Thank you! 😃

Hi Ali, Happy New Year! Had a long day out to church early, met 3 friends for lunch, went to a new consignmrnt shop of all high end odds and ends and home at 5. Have PJs on and went to youtube to try to find a friends decorating channel and saw this video. I am in the sane tiny apartment i moved to since leaving my Mom's house in 2022 but it is so tiny and still haven't made it totally work in some areas. Its the first place where I do have a foyer with a tiny coat closet but still lacking a better piece of furniture for keys, books to take back yo tge library odds and ends needing a home. Under the vintage desk i have now there in its place i have a cookie sheet under it gor my wer boots and shoes. My foyer is functional but i still watched this as I loved what you did in your former apt too. On this video when you mentioned your coats I thought you might get one of those bench trees with cubbies underneith for 2 baskets and hooks anove gor coats but, that still doesn't give you a basket for keys. I read yiur comments you had noted since all your work. I know read those first before I reply with remarks. Your shoe organizer i have to say adding your own touch to it is the nicest one I have ever seen. I like it being white too which keeps that area more open looking than a dark wood or a gray or blue etc. You have the knack for accessorising perfect too. I hope you had a great Christmas! Love, Rebekah

The entryway is really very pretty now. I see that others have suggested creating a pony wall on the other side of the door with a Kallax unit (a 2x2 would work well, size-wise). I did have a couple of concerns though. First, I'm trying to understand how this is "renter friendly" when you literally put at least 8 holes into the wall, along with 8 drywall anchors. Command strips are one thing, and the boards should remove fairly easily but that wall is going to require a lot of repair and then repainting on move out, due to the holes. As well, one of the hooks is behind the opening door and I'm wondering if there is enough clearance for the door to open fully when there is a jacket on the hook, and for it to open without hitting the hook when there *isn't* a jacket there. Finally, hanging hooks (even with anchors) without finding a stud and screwing the hook into solid wood, increases the chance that the hooks will pull out of the wall over time, from the weight of the coats or bags. (This is what happened with the hooks a previous renter installed in my entryway.) It does look much more functional and intentional now though and IKEA shoe cupboards are amazing!
