My scalp after I turned 30 could never. Now I wear weekly protective styles and shampoo weekly. At one point it was so bad I was thinking of shaving my head and scratching my scalp raw. But in my twenties and teenage years I could go 12 weeks no problem without washing my hair. All kinds of weird and wonderful things start happening as you get old. Lol! Glad it worked for you.

Lol. Yeah I don’t know how long this will be sustainable. Even though there weren’t any issues, I think I’m only gonna go 8 weeks in the future. I missed touching my hair.I actually enjoy the washing hair process even though it takes all day. 😂

Same here. After going 18 months of of not washing my hair due to suffering from unknown illnesses (at the time not knowing I was suffering from pneumonia for 2 months because doctors took so long to figure it out so I ended up with permanent nerve damage. I also unknowingly was suffering from endometriosis but that didn’t cause nerve damage). I can never go more than 2 weeks of not washing my scalp nor can forgo a wash day without using the Nizoral shampoo, nor without shampooing my scalp twice, nor without using a shampoo scrub tool gently, nor using the original Gold Listerine mouthwash on my scalp only during the deep condition process and wash it out along with the deep conditioner, nor can I put nothing else but my clove oil and my almond oil mixture on my scalp lol. Am convinced the scalps be its own homo Saipan🤷🏾♀️🤣😂😅. Lol cause like yea it is own category.

@@soundreign2319 yeah now my scalp is as high maintenance as my hair. I didn't have time to wash my hair today so all I did was shampoo and when I get home from work I will finish the deep conditioner and styling. I just could not go another day with my itchy scalp.

This is an awesome video. I keep my hair in cornrows for protective style. But I must take it out, the most 3 months. I am going to try the conditioner before taking them out. There were times when it was such a struggle and stressful when I leave the braids in too long. I am doing better with that now. I see the thickness and growth. Your hair looks healthy. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤💗❤💗💗❤❤

Your hair seem to be coily not kinky. When coily hair is healthy it coils up tighter and tighter every time it gets wet. The healthier it is the coilier it becomes. That’s why your ends are so tightly coiled that they won’t straighten. You are cutting off healthy ends😲. Would be nice if it was possible to braid it with those ends. Yes you can’t comb or brush through it but do you really need to, since you are braiding it up anyway? Just wondering.

I haven’t had my ends clipped in over 2 years . And I have always been able to get my ends completely blown out with the rest of my hair in the past. So that’s why I clipped them.

I was worried for you! 4 months is way too long to go without cleansing your scalp! But your hair does look healthy. If you find you're still struggling to retain length, you can try reducing your use of heat and hair tools like combs and brushes. Good luck on you journey! New subscriber! :)

@@zurihawkins219 hair grows better from a clean healthy scalp. I wash my hair every fortnight. Not touching your hair doesn't mean not washing. Not washing your scalp will encourage infections, sebum build up and clogged up follicles which slow down growth.

@@zurihawkins219 hun I'm Nigerian.. I have type 4B mid back length hair. I've found that removing product build up and dead skin cells from the scalp is the basis for healthy hair growth. This hair grows in dirt thing is a myth love.. Low manipulation grows hair, not a dirty scalp.

@@zurihawkins219 We only used those methods because as slaves we were forced to sleep in horrible conditions where bugs were free to roam around our hair. We also weren't given the luxury of bathing often so we had no choice but to let our hair (and bodies) stay soiled for weeks on end. Now that we are in the 21st century we can bathe and practice self care regularly. Shampoo is not bad for the hair, in fact its the only way your hair can get moisturized! Shampoo not only removes the debris that is coating the hair, it also raises the cuticle of your hair so that it can accept water (i.e. moisture). After you shampoo and allow your hair to accept water you are supposed to then seal the cuticle with conditioner. When you don't cleanse your hair you are actually drying it out.

Correction: August to October is 3 months. I waited to 2.5 months to wash mines but my hair is a pixie cut. It sheds half the time regardless of what I do to it. I did try to keep it moisturized and cover it with a turban. (I personally hate wigs), but they look nice on different people.
