My clinically diagnosed narcissistic adult son is an emotional abuser like his father was (my ex-husband). My adult son had appointed himself "my boss" after my divorce from his father and he like his father made my life an emotional misery until I decided to put a stop to his abuse. Sometimes we as parents want to be our children’s friends , and we try so hard to entertain them and make them happy. Your son was so used to it that he knew exactly what to say or do to put you on a guilt trip. Tell him you wish him well and let him live his own life, you have done your job. Keep your door open if he truly needs you but let him know that you are your own boss

Yes! Our intuition is everything. Every time I ignored my intuition because of people pleasing, fear, and just being told what to do, it ALWAYS blew up and made me go into a depression because i wasnt being my true, beautiful self. Last year, I decided to always be authentically myself again, stop people pleasing, and only do things that feel right to me in every area of my life. Being back to my true self completely changed my life and I ended the year off married to someone who makes my life feel like heaven on earth ❤ I feel like I did as a kid when I was always happy and doing things that made me happy aka playing! Jesus himself tells us not to worry in the bible. He says look at the birds in the air the father takes care of them . How much better do you think he will take care of you. He says he knows how many hairs are on your head and if you worry you will not add a single hair to your head. I'm in my late sixties and I finally learned to let go be happy and give everything to God. Why didn't I do this sooner? When the student is ready the teacher appears. Good morning from St. Catharines Ontario Canada Sandra, wow it was like you were reading my mind I woke this morning feeling this way, I really needed you to address this, I am retired and looking for a new purpose , my parents are gone and I have a grown son so ………now I find myself helping people just to be kind and I’m burning out , this living in the NOW is work for me so I hear you and will work on it, you would think by the time I got to this age I would have it worked out, but life is always changing, I just find I’m always running to catch up, even if I’m out gardening a neighbor will go by and ask for help or drive them somewhere , I drop my my gardening and help them, I just feel obligated, I think I’m like your Mother, we always want to be kind and needed and loved, so this chat with you came up at a perfect time, I think I’m OCD ???? Sandra thank you, going to listen and try to apply your tips, this is the best advice video , God bless, I will listen to it over and over!, I really appreciate you taking the time for each and everyone of us❤️🇨🇦🇺🇸💐💐💐

..... I am also older, and I understand what you meant.... we desire to be kind, helpful. However, I've drawn the line at " dropping everything " just to accommodate people. I'm not talking about life's little " Emergencies " or someone's car breaks down, etc. I'm speaking of the way that people think that " because I no longer go to work , I have all the time in the world "...with no thought to what I may be doing ,or how I'm occupying my time . So, yes, I will help others, when truly needed. But I am not dropping everything, as I once did. Others may see it as " selfish " ..but really.... if we are close to 70 years of age, who gets to decide...??? Who decides on how we use our time , if we are still kind and caring but don't want to feel imposed upon ,on a whim. We can say " No " in a kind way , and offer alternatives that work for our own Life. I like to putter.... I do. So if I want to spend my day " puttering " ..I will. Lol. Some days are " productive puttering " ....other times might not be. Lol. It's ok to give to yourself.... so we CAN give to others ,and not feel that all we do is " play catch up ".

I live in a retirement community of 55 plus and I have helped older people here too. I have found that if I'm not careful I will make myself sick worrying about them and not building a new life for myself. I have to pick and choose the situation. lines have to be drawn for our own health and sanity. I love my community and I feel very safe and warm here with all the nice people around but if people know you will help them they can ask you to do more and more and it is up to us to know where our limits are and also to make sure we are living our best life now. I also have had great neighbors who have helped me. I had a fall recently where I broke my shoulder out in the garden. and luckily I had my cell phone on me and was able to call my neighbor and ask them to help get me up and drive me to the hospital. luckily they were around and had no problem doing this for me. there are some circumstances where it is great to be needed and to be there to help. but we have to know what help is really needed and what other help is not so important and let it go and live our lives how we want to

I am 58, and I am now starting to learn all the points you have mentioned. I can not stress to those who are young, please please....do not let people tell you what to do with your life, listen to your gut instinct and think twice before making decisions (especially life changing ones) and live your own life, without envying someone else's. I am now having to learn painfully the hard way. I would also like to add is to set boundaries on what or what you will tolerate from others to never mistreat you. Things I wish I knew when I was younger.

Oh Sandra… How I love these chats. They sooo resonate with me at 68. This is …. AGAIN, very timely, as I have had to reset and rethink things myself with acceptance, not people pleasing and mostly “ the lessons to LEARN”. I actually love this part. The worrying, is an interesting subject for me. It has been the thorn in my side fir as long as I can also remember. And do you know Sandra….(?) That just a few days ago I said the most simple sentence to my brain. It was if I’ve NEVER heard these words before; Eileen… I’m not going to worry about that. What a new concept for me🤗. So.. indeed, letting things go is a process that I am falling in love with. One very great thing that has happened recently , ( a wish come true for me) is my ex sister-in-law ( my non family sister❤️) is moving here to Az. 10 minutes away from me. She has been a mentor and a loving human to me these last years of difficulty for me. I’ve been praying for some like minded women friends and now she will be here end of June. My heart is HAPPY and who knows what it will all bring. I still keep an eye out for opportunities in housing for me…. But I am not feeling stressed or urgent. Every thing you shared here today is on my own list and promises to myself. Thank you my dear friend for your continued channel. I love you too Sandra. You also look very darling today as usual . Hi Sandra. I am 64 and recently developed heart disease so was browsing you tube trying to get some dietry advice. I came across you and was completely impressed. Not only with your diet and how amazingly healthy you look but the way you talk so much sense. I immediately became a Sandra fan. Anyway you look so good and talk so much sense that I've decided I don't need any trendy diets or so called experts I'm just listening to you. So keep up the good work

dear Sandra, thank you, how I wish I had a wise feminine figure (come to think of it even a masculine one would have been helpful) growing up...I am in a really rough place and have been for years, feeling like quicksand, each move I make to try and change things only seems to make me go down further...it feels healing to listen to this simple and straightforward advice, although often the most simple and wise things are the hardest to do..I feel I have taken all the wrong turns, wasted my life and feel to exhausted and disoriented to know how to switch things around...but I am a seeker deep at heart and soul, and will not give up...much Light and Love to you and all

@@lifewithsandrahart oh Sandra that is so sweet, thank you...I just feel so drained, exhausted that I wish I had the energy to be able to change things, I feel I lack the energy....I watched your video on the law of attraction and I do write my gratitudes every day, and I am aware i have too much negativity in fear and lack of hope...I am working consciously on trying to change that but it's not easy....not easy to surrender and trust the process...take care, be well 🌷

Thank you so much for the wonderful advice. Decades ago, I used to be a people pleaser and wants everybody to be happy. Even on time when I don’t have something to give, I’ll make a way just to help them, sometimes I barrow money just to give it to them when they ask me and they need it and I don’t know why I can’t say no. Until one day I woke up where in my problems were bigger than I am, maybe that is what I attracted in my life for being a people pleaser in more than decade. Now I realized I need to think and love myself first, because no matter how good you think you are to other people, it will never be enough for them.

Sandra, as always, I love the thoughts you share. So many people fail to realize that people-pleasing is an impossible task. Happiness and the state of being pleased are choices each of us make for ourselves. Therefore, it is not possible to please anyone else solely through our own efforts, however well-meaning we may be.

My beloved husband of 38 years died on January 3, 2024 from an operation to repair his fractured femur at a French hospital in France. We lead a life of solidarity, love and loyalty. His body was shipped back to the USA for burial. I had engraved on his tombstone “Your heart was my home”. That sums it up. In a transition now hoping to recreate a wonderful life once again.

I do not sweat the small stuff anymore; my mind‘s not occupied what everyone else has or whatever else else is doing or thinking what is best for me; I just want to live a simple life with me and my dog and my family of course. My faith in my God has taught me to do this and turn everything over to Him, He is the only one that can take my fears away and knows everything. The long-standing joke is “Do you want to make God laugh”? make a plan😂😂 yesterday is gone tomorrow hasn’t come yet, today is the Present, which is a “Gift”..

Been an Anais Nin scholar since the late 1960s in my hometown Los Angeles. She emphasized the emergence of an individual. Anais is more than her erotica writings. Her partner Rupert Pole was my friend and employer. I typed the manuscript for one of her books that was published by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich.

I met her husband once in the 90’s in Silver Lake ( LA) My son first moved to LA and lived in Silver Lake. One day when I was walking the hills I met a man in his yard. We talked and I found out it was Anais’ husband. We talked about her, her work and their lives together. I have always felt no chance encounters are ‘accidental.’
