As an artistic swimmer here, I am begging you not to do this for fun. As a competitive artistic swimmer on an elite team, most swimmers/parents/coaches hate the application, smell, and the removing of knox. If it gets super hard/dry, you could be in the shower for more than an hour, and you baby hairs are in denial 😅 But, the effects do make your hair healthier, until my swimmers 25+ hour weekly practice schedule comes along 💀Do as you please, but as a swimmer with lots of experience, its not the most pleasant thing 😅 I only meant for this comment to benefit the popularity of Artistic Swimming and to build the number of amazing artistic swimmers, not the number of fearful ppl. Despite the knox, artistic swimming is an amazing sport to try 🫶🏼

I did artistic swimming for a long time and I still can't get over how bad it smelled and how applying it felt like a giant dog was liking my hair, but you seemed to enjoy it somewhat and im happy you found it fun. Also heres some tips for if you ever want to do this again. Buy disposable paint brushes to apply the Knox and have a towel around your neck for incase there's runoff and have someone else around who can help you with knowing. Also this is optional but if you want you can add glitter to the Knox to make it pretty.

For anyone wondering: Gelatine is just protein, and pineapple juice contains proteolytic(breaks down proteins) enzymes. That's why it works. That's also why your tongue feels prickly after eating pineapple, because it's ''eating'' the flesh on your tongue.

As an artistic swimmer, I can say this is the worst part of playing the sport. It’s even worse when you have to put in a big headpiece AND sleep with it in. The things we do for sports. And for some people wondering what it smells like, it kind of smells like rotten milk. It also does work on curly hair, and to get it out, I use the hottest water I can handle and dish soap.

Quick explanation from a former synchronized swimmer: we do this for competitions. Yes I know it’s horrible and there “has to be a better way” but this is how it’s done. You mix knox gelatin with water and use a rubber barbecue brush to lather on a huge layer so it hardens like a swim cap and your hair stays in place. I remember after swimming my team and I would each have brought one bottle of conditioner each just for that post swim shower to take off the gelatin from our hair. Oh and also it stinks like wet dog and drips down your body and re-dries and pulls all your peach fuzz. It’s gross 🤡 Edit: we don’t use swim caps for competitions because it looks more uniform to just have a bun cap and gelled scalp. Synchro performances are all about the aesthetics and also swim caps can fall off! That’s the last thing you want during your routine (judges take points off for everything)
She really have to be showing off how much better her hair is than mine in every vid
