When my 17-yr-old son was battling cancer, I kept getting phone calls from our insurance company threatening to send CPS after me for not getting my child scheduled for a “well-child” visit. I kept trying to explain that he’s NOT a well child, in fact he was in and out of the hospital for weeks as they tried to determine what was wrong with him (it was a rare cancer and took 19 days and three hospital visits to diagnose). They literally called me half a dozen times and were threatening me. How can he go for a “well child” visit with his pediatrician when he’s in the HOSPITAL??? And our insurance should KNOW that since they are being billed, and he’s being seen by THEIR own pediatricians on hospital rotations. But truancy officers? Of course they are resisting... You're basically attacking them and instincts kick in with a fight or flight response. Officers should be forced to warn people that they're about to go hands-on and allow people to submit to the officers authority peacefully before officers are allowed to go hands-on. Some don't use or wear anything to distinguish them as cops so they can get close to the kids. Their task is basically to force kids to go to school, but they make FREQUENT mistakes and are still protected for it. He then said he sent his 15 year old to get the 13 year old, which would mean the 13 year old wasn't in eye sight to where he could wave for him to come on, and he then went to his truck..... So a police truancy officer saw a 13 year old with no adult around him..... His job is to deal with truancy issues..... Including kids skipping school. He thought the kid was skipping school and was about to take him back...... There was literally no adult around him..... See in this area we have a lot of kids that skip school and go to mcdonalds..... The cop done his rounds aside mcdonalds and seen and there was literally no adult inside the McDonald's..... All the cop saw was a kid playing and another kid walking around and he thought both were skipping. Pretty simple. Dude literally said the plain clothes cop tried putting his kids in an unmarked police car...... Your trying to make it seem like the guy was just looking to abduct kids for a sick reason and he waited until the adult was gone to try and abduct the kids. Should the cop have done more to figure out why the kids were there? Yes. Was he in the wrong for trying to take kids he thought was skipping back to school? No. It's part of his job. And if you think him being a cop magically makes it impossible that he had nefarious motives then I’d first ask, why he was in plainclothes and an unmarked car. And then I’d ask you to look up domestic abuse statistics among police officers and studies on the mentality behind why some people seek positions of power and authority over others. The truancy officer has a legitimate purpose. It's dealing with the kids who are sent to school by their parents in good order but fail to attend anyway. But those kids are aware that they're misbehaving, and they make it hard to find them. So, it's much easier to go after the kids who aren't misbehaving. Kind of like the IRS audits the people with nothing to take over a thousand dollars rather than the people who are hiding millions and can afford lawyers and accountants to make it difficult to prove it.

@@natestewart8649 with any self defense situation that involves bang sticks ... Being taken into custody is a given ... What happens after that ... Who knows. But to protect my kids ... I would be willing to pay the price.

It’s tricky using firearms and having children. You have to level the chance of going to prison, and by extension effectively removing yourself from their lives for X amount of time, against the threat. The guy wasn’t using a weapon so the chances of the court battle going poorly is high. He probably assessed that it was better to use the good ol’ fisticuffs. He was probably significantly bulkier than the cop anyways. Much easier to fight plain assault than it is assault with a deadly. That being said, if my kids have their mother still and I’m in a situation like this, the bang stick is definitely amongst my first 2 options. It being much easier to contemplate leaving someone behind if you’re not leaving them alone and all.

BRAVO! Unmarked officers need to understand that when they grabbed children, and put them in the back of an unmarked vehicle it looks more than suspect!!! Surely hope this guy does not get anything less other than immediate fired with no access to any of the benefits of being a cop.

Love that you can see the little injury on Boss' hand from the "face to the rear light" incident with the officer. Also, those are some very reasonable demands.

They are, but depending on the state and if there's a union involved, the department/school district may not be able to acquiesce to the non-eligibility for disability/pension demands from Boss.

Reminds me of a time a plain clothes truancy officer tried to force entry into our house when I was a kid. Said person decided it was in their best interest to stop, after my mother had me get her the shotgun. The responding uniformed police officer had a very verbal instructional moment with the plain clothes person about the illegalities of forced entry and right of protection of one's family. Being a member of a legal defense organization and being able to call a lawyer to talk with the police also helped

He's lucky he was able to receive such verbal instruction. The 💀 hear nothing.

A lot of the dads i know wouldn't have gone the conversation route. It would've gone in the forever box direction. Also any time a badge or suit wants to handle things quietly it means they have something to hide. So either take them for everything right down to their souls before signing, or scream it to local news and sns as soon as possible... dealers choice depending on alignment.

Are you dumb? Handling things quietly means they have something to hide? You do realize it's pretty much standard practice to try and settle law suits because lawsuits get exorbitantly expensive and take a lot of time whether your wrong or right.

i'd recommend screaming it to the news just because this does not seem like a one time thing if his confidence in just shoving a kid into the unmarked car is anything to go buy. good god

An excellent accounting from an exemplary man and an excellent father. Some people really just need to learn the hard way, well played sir, a lesson so pertinent that an entire department hopefully learned from it. 😂😂😂😂
